Trusses and built up girders Mass of framing includes all components and fittings except different type/grade of material (SMM G10.M1). Items for fabrication measured by weight are deemed to include shop and site bla ck bolts, nuts and washers for structural framing to structural framing connections , which do not therefore require specific mention (SMM G10.C1). Fabrication of framing Structural steel members are usually entered on dimension papers in linear items , stating the depth and breadth. The overall lengths of the members are measured with no deductions for splayed cuts or mitred ends or for the mass of metal to form notches and holes each<0.10 m2 in are measured in the plane (SMM G10.M3). While calculating, no allowance to be made for the mass of weld fillets, black b olts, nuts , washers, rivets and protective coatings (SMM G10.M4). According to SMM7, followings shall be separately enumerated: SMM G10.1.11 & SMM G10.1.12 1. Holding down bolts / assemblies (Details to be stated - , length of bolts and drawing for assemblies) 2. Weighting up process usually takes place at the bill production stage. Total measured length or area of each member or component is multiplied by the weight per m or m2. The measurement should proceed in a logical sequence following the inclusion of a general description of the work which would include reference to location draw ings. 1.
