Senior Fact Sheet

1) Which courses have interested you the most? Please explain. The courses that interest me the most is Biology, and Chemistry. Science related jobs revolve around my family; my mother being an RN, my godfather/uncle being a PA (Physician Assistant), my godmother/aunt also being an RN, etc. In biology, it is the study of biotic and abiotic factors, interactions between among organisms. However you want to define, but Biology is the study of life, or living organisms. I believe Biology grasps my attention because I love learning about other living organism and applying them to everyday life. Examining everything at a micro level is extremely interesting, which allows me to visualize what an actual plant looks like at the perspective of the naked-eye and the micro level of viewing plants. What makes Chemistry interesting to me is a good question. Chemistry integrates with Biology, having a great understanding of chemicals or even the periodic table, gives you great knowledge to apply to Biology Scenarios. For example, in a salt lab (Biology lab), you will most likely need to know what salt actually is first, and how its properties play into the lab. Both Chemistry and Biology are two of my courses that I would say I value the most. 2) What is your intended college major/career goal? My intensions are to major in either Biology or Chemistry. In doing so, I would love to pursue a medical career in Cardiology, Orthopedics, or Pediatrics. There are also other careers that I am also very interested in, such as Nursing, PA and Nurse Anesthetist. These are all well paying jobs, and many people may be there for the money. I am not saying most people do not go into the field just for the money, but there are people that do. I would love to pursue in the medical field, because I absolutely love helping other. Giving to the community in any type of way, which can be from helping someone from the health stand point or even helping a lady cross the street. These actions of being a great help, or actions of small kindness, change the world in large ways. In my opinion, getting involved in the community and helping others makes me content and satisfied, because I love seeing others happy around me. Following my dream and actually accomplishing the goal of being a Doctor would allow me to do other things. I can actually do something I love doing. I love the study of medicine; it is extremely interesting to me. 3) Have you ever been suspended from Arlington High School? Please explain. No.

4) What are you enthusiastic about? I am enthusiastic about almost anything when I am around people who I love. This includes, friends, family, and even teachers that I love. When it comes to science or labs, I am usually enthusiastic about it with my lab partners. In many social aspects, I am usually optimistic and enthusiastic. I feel that the tone of enthusiasm can create a sense of ease for others. For example, when others are upset or have emotions of depression for any reason, the tone of enthusiasm will always help in some way. It will create ease. Generally, I try to be enthusiastic in every way possible. 5) Which of your personal and/or academic qualities do you feel are most important to bring to the attention of college admissions officials, including special talents (art, drama, music, sports, etc) or unique characteristics? The major personal qualities that I value of me are humbleness and self-confidence. I feel with humbleness comes great reward. My self-confidence is what drives to accomplish many of my goals. I have never given up on anything I have ever done. One of my academic qualities that I value is my social studies and my sciences. I strive more in my social studies, but I feel my heart and motivation is in science. I dedicate more of my time in sciences. Other colleges should also be aware that I have other talents. I play basketball and I have participated on the JV basketball team. Unfortunately, due to injuries, it has limited my potential to pursue furthermore into the basketball program. I play two instruments. I play the piano and the violin. I have been playing Piano since I was five and I have received 3 NYSSMA medals and two of which were perfect scores out of 28. I have been playing the violin since I was in 3rd grade, and I have participated in the symphony orchestra for my three years of high school of high school (Symphonia Freshman Year). 6) Are there any unusual circumstances that have had an impact on your academic performance in high school? Please explain. Yes, during the beginning of my freshman year of high school, my parents have considered divorcement of each other. That has impacted me greatly because I was always involved in their disputes, and currently they are still settling amongst themselves. I can gladly say that it has gradually gotten better over the course of the four years of high school. It has been a rough four years of high school, and I wish that this unfortunate event had not occurred. I believe I would have done much better academically. I am honestly extremely disappointed in myself of how I did poorly my freshman year of high school. But it has come a long way. I have realized that it isnt the end of the world; I have progressively gotten better in my academic grades. Finally, in my junior year I strived to achieve my highest grades in out of all my years, and now I have gone through the transition of regents courses to AP courses. I can honestly say I am proud of myself that I have gone through a whole lot, but I have came a long way, and I plan on carrying out a strong grade through my graduation of Arlington High School.
