COMPANY OVERVIEW
Overview:
India is one of the largest producers of oilseeds in the world and this sector occupies an important position in the agricultural economy. India contributes about 8-9% of the world oilseeds production. Kharif oilseeds production for 2005-2006 is estimated at 14.6 MT as per the first advance estimate. The Rabi oilseeds production may reach. Thetarget level of 10.4 MT with favorable weather. Per capital availability of oil In India is around five kilograms. Indian oilseeds cultivation has so far grown quantitatively but it needs to take qualitative leap forward. Edible oil industry is a high volume, medium growth sector characterized by excess capacities owing to inefficient operations. Imports have been influencing prospects; leading to domestic industry crisis. Edible oil consumption has been continuously increasing during the last one decade, owing to improvement in standard of living that facilitated increase in per capita consumption. Edible oil consumption in India is both income and price-elastic. Better availability of local oilseeds is expected as Gujarat had witnessed good rains for past few years and good prospects for the same can be legitimately assumed for the coming year.

Opportunities and Threats:

Oilseeds and edible oils are two of the most sensitive essential commodities. Edible oils, which provide vital proteins, are produced from oilseeds. However, the production of oilseeds is next in importance only to cultivation of food grains and cash crops in India and the rest of the world. Thus, oilseeds have to fight with other crops, such as rice and wheat, for land, soil, climate, water and fertilizers.

It is necessary to bring more area under cultivation of oilseeds to solve the problem of plenty on one hand and shortage on other. This would help to achieve self-sufficiency in oilseeds productions. India has different climatic and soil conditions in different regions. This gives it the ability to produce a large variety of oilseeds. Thus optimizing the regional resources available. Edible oil industry is primarily a commodity market and the same is price sensitive. The country's total edible oil supply is likely to increase in 2006-07 to 12.06 million tone (mt), up 3.77% from estimated 11.63 ml in 2005-06 on higher crush and increased imports. Imports are expected to be higher at 5.01 mt from 4.81 mt because of higher demand fueled by strong economic growth and increasing population. The edible oil production would increase to 6.6 mt from 6.3 ml in 2002-06, due to anticipated larger crush of higher oil content seeds like rapeseed. Domestic edible oil prices, in general, are expected to move in tune with international prices with India's increasing dependence on imported oils, which now accounts for almost 50% of total consumption.

Future outlook:
The future of edible oil industry is by and large dependent upon population growth, per capita income, purchasing power and the oilseed crop in the coming season. Other crucial factors are domestic/international prices and availability of oilseeds. The focus of the Company in forthcoming year would be on improving yields, getting better quality oilseeds at competitive price and ensuring regular supplies. The market for edible oils, in the next five years, will grow by around 8%.

Lower dependency on rains is expected, as Narmada Irrigation project will provide irrigation. Facilities to 17.93 lacs hector of land, covering 3112 villages of 73 talukas in 15 district of Gujarat. Assured water supply will soon made this area draught proof.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

The major edible oils processed in the plant are Soybean oil, Sunflower oil, Palm oil, Mustard oil, Ground-nut oil & Vanaspati oil. The process of refining starts with the crude oil first being Degummed- a process in which the stocky material is removed from the crude. The acidity in the oil is then removed by neutralizing it with caustic soda. To improve the aesthetics of the oil, it is bleached & then deodorized. Bleaching improves the color of the oil to acceptable levels & deodorization removes the objectionable Odour from the oil. The refined or hydrogenated oils are then packed in consumer packs, tins or sold loose in tanker.

RESEARCH PLAN ON THE VIMAL EDIBLE OIL

Marketing research requires developing the most efficient plan for gathering the required information. This involves decision on the data sources, research approaches, research instruments, sampling plan and contact methods.

1. Data sources:Data sources is first step for the developing the research plan. Data sources are the sources for collecting the data for the research plan. There are two types of data a source first is primary data sources and second is secondary data sources. Primary data sources:This type of data collected by the researcher directly from the respondent, fresh data researched etc.for the project. In my report I collected the data directly from respondents. Secondary data sources:This type of data collected by the researcher indirectly from the past researches, television, internet, radio, newspaper, annual reports, industrial reports, company reports etc. for the project. In secondary data I got the data from television and news paper.

2. Research approaches:-

Primary data can be collected in five ways: through Observational research Focus groups Surveys research Behavioral data and Experiments. From this research approaches I take three approaches in my survey.

Observational research:This type of research is useful for my research because I could get the data

through observing the consumer who buying the vimal oil. I could hold interview session of the consumer at the house, other places and collected the information of vimal oil. Experimental research:The most scientifically valid research is experimental research. The purpose of the experimental research is to capture cause and affect relationship by eliminating competing explanation of the observed findings. By this research I took the interview that user of the vimal oil and know the experience of them with vimal oil. Survey research:This is very useful for me to collect the primary data. In this survey I made questionnaire including the all type of question which was helpful for me for collected data. This questionnaire was filling up by the respondents of different age group and I collected the information by them.

3. Research instruments:Marketing researchers have a choice of three main research instruments in collecting primary data: questionnaires, qualitative measures and technological devices. Qualitative measures Technological Devices Questionnaires In the research instruments there are three types of instruments but I m including only the Questionnaires which are collecting from the primary data. Questionnaires:-

In the research instruments questionnaires is the most important part. The questionnaires consist of a set of questions presented in front of respondance because of its flexibility. In the questionnaires there are two types of questions. Open end questions:In open end questions there are respondance free to give answers in their own words. In the open end questions there are respondance is free to give multiple answers. Close end questions:In the close end questions respondent give the answers very specifically and possible answers that are easier to interrupt and tabulate. In this research I useed this instrument for collecting the data.

4. Sampling plan:After deciding on the research approach and instruments, the marketing researcher must design a sampling plan. This calls for three decisions:

Sampling unit:In the vimal oil survey, there is a more use by people, it involves, most of the lady

user . I included both male and female. Sampling size:My research target was the entire patan city it known as a sample size. My sample size was 100 people to whom I survey for product vimal oil.

Sampling procedure:Sampling procedure includes that from city which type of people survey in my

research. The respondents are ladies, male, housewife; they are above 18or beloved 35 these all includes in the sampling procedure.

5. Contact methods:-

Now the marketing researcher must decide how to contact the subjects: by mail, by telephone, interview, or online. Mail questionnaire Telephone interview Personal interview Online interview From this method I consider only 2 methods in survey which is Telephone interview and personal interview Telephone interview:This method is helpful for filling the questionnaires very quickly because respondents contact made directly with me and I can ask the question one by one and fill up the questionnaire so that I used these contact methods for filling my questionnaire and got the date regarding my survey. Personal interview:In this type of contact method I meet the respondents personally and fill the questionnaire by them this method was useful for me I can ask question to the respondents and collect all the data.
