in the organisations in which the projects are conducted. From an operations perspective,
students are expected to put project management tools and methods into practice that
contribute to the design, planning, execution and assessment of projects. The practical work
shouldenablestudentstohonetheirmanagementskills.
B.METHOLODOGY.Thestudentshouldfindatutorfortheentiredurationoftheinternship.
ThetutorwillprovidesupportforandassessmentofworkcoveringtheTHEPARTIAL
SUBMISSIONSANDTHEfinalProjectReport.Thishelp/supervisionmaybetenderedinthe
formofremoteand/orfacetofacesessions.
C.SPECIFICOBJECTIVES.ThespecificICPobjectivesareto:
C1.ImproveTechnicalSkills:Throughoutthecourse,participantswillhavethe
opportunitytoanalyseandpracticetoolsandtechniquesforhelpingthemreachthe
projectsobjectiveswithintheagreedtimeandbudget.Certainactivitiesarecommon
toallprojects(suchasthosecoveringprojectdefinition,planning,time&budget
management).
C2.ImproveSoftSkills.Projectsuccessisachievedonlyifinterpersonalrelationships
aretakenintoaccountandaccordedtherightimportanceandpriority.TheSoftSkills
(interpersonalcompetencies)ofthevariousplayers(especiallytheprojectmanager)
arekeytofosteringmoraleandteamwork.
Negotiation,communicationandpresentationskillsarealsoofkeyimportancein
managingprojects.Theyparticularlycomeintoplayinidentifyingcustomerneedsand
toassessandmanagestakeholders.
C3.IntellectualSkills:Projectmanagementisextremelychallengingbecauseit
requirestheapplicationofawiderangeofintellectualskills.Throughoutthe
internship,participantshavetoanalyseandassesscomplexproblems,takedecisions
andcomeupwithactionplansandrealisticprojects.Alloftheforegoingrequirements
meanthatstudentsnotonlyhavetoreadandstudywhatothershavedoneinthepast
butalsodeveloptheirownthoughtprocessestofindcreative,innovativewaysof
makingtheirprojectasuccess.

timespentontheprojectandinwritingitup.
