History
In 1982, Denis and Florence GERMAIN a French couple started their career as an NGO in Madurai (South India). In Six years, they created several small scale industries in villages and slums. The aim behind that was procuring employment in rural areas, and it was the first step of "Social Entrepreneurship" in the humanitarian world. Definitively in love with India, both decided to continue their life in India, keeping the same goal of creating employment but with different strategy and do business with a social mind. In 1994, they settled in Bangalore with their 3 children and since then, it was a growing process for all.

Organization Study
BEPL is France Based Textile exporting company currently located its head office in Yeshwanthpur, Bangalore North and Karnataka, India. BEPL has three manufacturing units i.e. BEPL 1 & Akshaya Apparels Pvt. Ltd and one sampling plus designing, sewing unit i.e. BEPL 3 and one finishing unit i.e. BEPL 2. In year 1998, Mr. Denis Germain was in India for social projects and found great potential business model. He started off venture with just 7 working staff in R T Nagar Bangalore with Sampling as its core operations. Mrs. Florence Germain also joined the company board as director.

Since then company has grown multiple times in terms of turnover, client based, brands, services it offers.

BEPLs one of its first client were Paul Boye , 2nd Studio Venture etc and firm is been best in retaining its client for longer time with its relationship policies. Few of the popular apparel brands it has been dealing with since its inception are Timber Land, DKNY Converse, Burberry, etc.

Current Status
Initially started as a buying house cum sampling Unit, Birdy expanded as a manufacturer too, through Akshaya. Today Birdy Exports group includes

1150 employees 660 stitching machines

This company has also installed sophisticated machineries in all processes (sewing, cutting, CAD and finishing) to ensure an efficient production, reduction of costs, and optimum utilization. Besides, independent exporters associated with Birdy manufacture orders from Birdy. The whole process is monitored by Birdy Merchandisers as a Buying House. With them, together, they export 2.5 million pieces/year 1500 references

To sustain globally acceptable work place practices/standards we have implemented SA 8000 successfully and we are certified for the same. Hygiene and security within the premises are regularly audited and Certified by external Third Party SA 8000 Auditors.

Workers and staff can leave their children in the Crche. We believe in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): A certified Psychologist meets regularly with workers within the factory premises. A Microcredit program from our Trust The Link is available for workers who want to save and borrow. Job opportunities : Several employees are selected from Prerana Resources center, a home for Challenged people, to be trained and employed in our Company. Free health check up camp: as a concern towards employees health and wellness, free health check up camps are conducted every year.
