WHITTLE THE 15-20 LIST DOWN TO 10

Place your 5 utmost important in the red five and the remainder in the orange
If anything from the red area is missing from your relationship consider this red flag, danger zone, take action, must address immediately territory, not least because there is very likely to be some issues with boundaries. Anything that is in the orange area is still a primary value and very important and if anything is missing from this area, it can be a prelude to a red flag, or represent areas where your relationship will need more work to overcome the difference. Either way, if anything is absent on this list from your relationship, its a major signal to sit up and pay attention to your own actions and assess what it is that you actually want, because to continue would mean that you would not be living congruent with your values or being authentic. If you persist in the relationship, its time to ask yourself whether its really a primary value or whether you are compromising yourself, or whether you expect the other person to compromise their values or themselves.

Questions To Help You:

Is anything on that is potentially on this list, values that you have already sought and got in previous relationships but it hasnt made you happy or helped the success of the relationship? What are your plans? Do you hope to have family, children, marriage, commitment etc? What has been absent from your relationships that youve been looking for and still want? Think about when you have felt bad in a relationship? What values or lack of them contributed to these feelings? Examples absence of respect and trust. What do you believe in? If, for example, your religion is very important to you, this should be in your 10. What makes you happy and unhappy? What qualities and characteristics do you possess that youd like from others? Look out for cross overs with values where getting one value will give you the other. For example, if you can trust someone, you should expect commitment/fidelity. Also ask yourself, why you value something. This helps you make sense of its importance to you. Sometimes we have reasons that may originate from our childhood that may need to be challenged to ensure that we dont have unrealistic expectations.
