VPN Connectivity

14

Tulip Telecom has won the Frost & Sullivan Growth Leadership Award for Enterprise Data Services (MPLS VPN) 2009, the 3rd time in a row. With an extensive domestic network that reaches almost every district in India, Tulip enables Corporate to extend their applications to the remotest part of the country. Tulip's IP/MPLS network is a carrier grade infrastructure built, using state-of-the-art networking equipment. It is the only network in the country offering MPLS VPN services to over 2000 locations in India. Tulip is geared to provide Bandwidth on demand, Video Conferencing, Voice Over IP (VoIP) and a host of other value added services that could revolutionize the way a corporate business works. The entire network is connected over high-speed fiber backbone and offers multiple access technology options including wireless to the last mile. This unique approach allows customers to get connected quickly and easily with very short time lead, eliminating many of the hindrances encountered in traditional copper-based last mile connectivity provided by incumbent service providers. Tulip network infrastructure is created using multiple technologies enabling customized connectivity solutions for its customers. Tulip Network Architecture: Tulip's IP/MPLS network is designed with 'no-single-points-of-failure' architecture. All critical equipment and links are deployed in redundant mode, offering network availability in excess of 99.95%. Our hierarchical follows a three-tier model with 3 layers ie Core, Aggregation and Access layers. The Core & Aggregation Network: The Core network of Tulip consists of high speed interconnects between the twelve major cities in India. All
15

these cities are dual-homed to high-capacity core routers at Delhi and Mumbai, each capable of processing up to 120 Gbps of data traffic. All core routers are carrier-class, fully redundant chassis configurations. To provide an additional level of redundancy, the core routers are deployed in two geographically dispersed POPs in both Delhi and Mumbai. This design provides unmatched levels of core network availability. Tulip network has twelve centers for traffic aggregation, each of which is dual-homed to the core routers over STM-1/DS3 capacity links. These links are not only in redundant mode, but also follow independent fiber routes between the POPs. All the remote aggregation points are connected to the core network over redundant paths allowing connectivity to be maintained even in times of link failures. The Customer Access Network: The most critical aspect of a network is the access link to the customer or what is called as the "last mile" connectivity. With the explosion in requirements for data connectivity the last mile invariably turns out to be weakest links in the entire network. To address this solution, Tulip has built infrastructure to address all types of customer locations and terrains. We have been innovatively using advanced wireless technologies to reach out to our customers from remote locations. Besides wireless, Tulip is also deploying a vast fiber network in major cities to provide last-mile fiber connectivity. Benefits of Tulip IP Backbone using MPLS Technology: Customers located in key business districts will be able to enjoy very high bandwidth (up to gigabit speeds) using dedicated fiber connectivity. The entire Tulip Network Infrastructure is designed to ensure the following:

Provide a diversified range of services (Layer 2, Layer 3) to meet

16

the requirements of the entire spectrum of customers from SMB's to Large businesses.

Highest redundancy levels to ensure no single point of failure. Highest levels of scalability to handle both geographic expansions and bandwidth growth. Flexibility in solution design, implementation and expansion through the use of multiple technologies. End-to-end assured network security. End-to-end assured quality of service making IT possible. Provide a reliable and amenable service, offering SLA to customers. Capable of meeting a wide range of customer requirements, ensuring quality of Service (QOS) and any-to-any connectivity.

Tulip understands that networks must be flexible, tailored to meet communication needs, compliant with regulation and also aligned with industry standards. Through a comprehensive range of services, adaptable scale, and in-depth networking expertise, we keep organizations connected and communicating through their networks. Global MPLS Connectivity: Tulip offers international MPLS VPN connectivity through its strategic tie-ups with international service providers. Tulip can provide customers with high availability of WAN links from India to most international locations.

OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH

62

As per the requirement of the project questionnaire established direct contact with the respondents for the purpose of my study, where the respondents were both the customer and non-customer of Data Connectivity Service provider, a leading Network Integrator and a Managed Service Player, TULIP, and as the objective was to study that which plan is more widely accepted out of connectivity service and traditional plan in the city of TULIP, I found out that the customers find connectivity service products a one-stop and hassle free solution for their needs of Enterprise Connectivity, Network Integration & Professional Services, Data Center Services, Managed Services, Value Added Services and Total Outsourcing Services. Because by way of these products they are also investing their money into the market, which was not available with the traditional products. The objective of the project is to Analyses the consumer behavior towards different data connectivity services. The research takes into consideration the view of the CIS of different businesses and the working executives.

Analyzing the various factors such as using of connectivity service.

63

NEED AND SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

The project is a very good chance of getting pragmatic approach of
64

Research Methodology. This gives the practical exposure to this field. Might understand all theories or concepts in the classroom coaching but this project has solved various queries that might have not been able to solve in the class. When did this project it suppose to develop a questionnaire and the thing which we thought is very easy job turned out a lot of questions like: Why will customer listen? Why will customers be interested to fill it? Etc. This has also made us approach various types of people and convince them for our purpose. The project in itself has a vast scope. This project has not only broadened our horizon of understanding the course but it has also cleared our vision as a Research student. We have segmented the customers depending upon their utility and we have clearly tried to bring out the factors that are making a brand successful. The project thus gives us a direct chance of performing a market research in the exact professional scenario.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The topic of the project is MARKET RESEARCH & INDUSTRY MAPPING. The study was carried out with the objective to get an insight
65

as to which of the plans out of Network Integrator and a Managed Services is more acceptable in the market of ABC city. DATA COLLECTION TECHNIQUES 1. PRIMARY RESEARCH Primary research included working with people and observing them. As the study was done with the Registered office of TULIP TELECOM, the observations were concerned with people working there, their work practices and ways of doing work. The method adopted for this survey was Exploratory Research since the main aim was to gain an insight in to the acceptance of the consumers for Connectivity Products, and what are the factors that lead to their decision while choosing a plan. A decision was taken to use the questionnaire method. The questionnaire was thought to be the most suitable because it allows structured, meaningful and uniform interaction with the respondent. The following steps enumerate the various stages of this project. Step1. Designing the questionnaire The first step in the research process was the formation of questionnaire, keeping in view the need for uniformity and specificity of information. A structured, non-disguised questionnaire was drafted keeping in mind that it will cover the objectives of the project. The questionnaire is drafted for the enterprises, which includes customers of lease line services as well as of other connectivity companies and also the general public. Step2. Deciding the sample size

66

The sample size for the number of persons to be surveyed was decided to be 350 so that sufficient information and variability can be obtained. As far as the companies are concerned, the number of connectivity companies does not matter for the purpose of this project. The place of study is ABC city only. Step3. Collection of data The questionnaires were directly filled by the respondents, or a communication was made through telephone or personal meetings. Some of the questionnaires were mailed to the respondents. Step4. Classification and tabulation of data The data obtained through the questionnaire was then fed in to the computer and tabulated. The data was obtained through objective questions and was put in graphical form. This was done to facilitate analysis about the various aspects such as awareness level, major factors influencing people while buying an insurance cover etc. Step5. Analysis and Findings The data, as it was put in the form of graphs was easier to analyze. Interpretations were done and major inferences were drawn. 2. SECONDARY RESEARCH The secondary source of information included the data provided by the company. This data was of utmost importance for understanding the problem. However desk research was also carried out to enhance theoretical knowledge. Desk research included consulting books and Internet searching.

67

3. DATA ANALYSIS The data provided and collected was processed, classified and fitted into charts and tables to make findings more meaningful. true picture of the customer behavior.

Since consumer survey was part of class project, we found it little bit difficult to convince the customer to give their time for the questionnaire and the feedbacks.

Main limitation was availability of less time as per the specification.

The geographical limitation was major constraint as we are unable to cover more area to get accurate picture.

Cost of going this research was another constraint as we were limited to few areas because of limited finance.

Sample size is also not appropriate as per census.

RECOMMENDATIONS In spite of all the good factors and rating, still the discrepancies remain either in the part of entire company or on the part of a particular office operating in the state of the country. TULIP Telecom ltd. Delhi has some problem in which top management should take corrective measures in order to become more effective and efficient in its operation. a) The biggest loophole in this service lies in the recruitment process of an agent advisor. The responsibility to recruit a potential agent advisor lies on Associate Partner and other people in hierarchy. But these people wont concentrate and wont give priority to this work. They wont give time to the activity of recruitment as their main target remains to sell a policy. The main reason behind this is the competitions among employees in the company and secondary is the monetary reward. b) So there must be another department or group under same head who can look after the entire recruitment process of the agent advisor in the company. They should be organize in a sense that they should remain in the company as on appointed time and appointed date rather than in the field work. If company will able to overcome this basic problem than the workforce will increase which will ultimately led to increase in more business and growth of the company. c) The company should also concentrate in its expenditure. They spend a huge amount of money on converting a person into an agent advisor. But the percentage of people who finally get converted as an agent is very less. So the expenditure involves in the recruitment process goes in waste. Therefore company should give effective concentration on both the activity that is selling of policies and recruitment of an agent advisor.

CONCLUSIONS
The combined effort of the training and the project undertaken has given me a better understanding of the connectivity market of my place of training, and therefore after the preparation of the project report certain conclusions can be drawn with respect to the acceptance level of connectivity products and traditional products and also to understand that to what extent the Data Connectivity Service, Network Integrator and a Managed Service are successful in the market.

More of the customers opt for Data Storage product because it gives the flexibility to save our data or information from the leakage.

It can be clearly seen that the todays age is totally connected with the IT instrument, so it helps to connect by Global Enterprise Connectivity Service.

Full suite of managed services including monitoring and management of the IT infrastructure including network, desktops, database, applications, server and OS. Onsite and Offsite facility management services.

Managed Video and voice, Management Messaging an Managed CE(customer equipments).

Therefore I reach to this conclusion that Connectivity Products of any company are attracting the customers more than Traditional Products because it gives complete outsourcing of the IT Infrastructure.
