UA EARLY COLLEGE ACADEMIC PLANNING GUIDE INSTRUCTIONS

This worksheet will help you determine which Early College courses best complement your high school coursework, while balancing your extracurricular activities. You may need to obtain or have access to a working copy of your high school transcript to complete this worksheet.

1. Complete the Demographic Information Section.


o Enter all of the personal identification information required, including your official University of Alabama Campus-Wide ID (CWID) number.

2. Complete the Request for Early College Courses Section.


o Identify the term (Spring, Summer, Fall) for which you are seeking to enroll. o Then, enter the course number, such as HY 101, EN 101, or ANT 101, and the name of the course, such as Western Civilization to 1664, English Composition, or Introduction to Anthropology.

3. Complete the Extra-Curricular Activities Section.


o List each extra-curricular activity (i.e., football, dance, band, part-time job, school clubs, ACT/SAT prep, tutoring, volunteer, church group) in which you will be involved this year. o List the approximate time you anticipate spending each week per activity.
o These time commitments should factor into your UA Early College course decisions for the upcoming term.

4. List the High School Courses You Have Taken in the Past and the Classes You Are Currently Taking.
o Page two of the Academic Planning Guide contains a chart that is divided into four columns: Freshman Year, Sophomore Year, Junior Year, and Senior Year. o List the course that you have taken, or are taking currently, for each year that applies i.e., do not list course for which you will be enroll next school year. o Also, please note if you took the class as an International Baccalaureate course, or an Advanced Placement (AP)course.

o If you have taken the AP exam for that subject, please indicate your score in the column entitled AP Exam Score. o If you did take the course as an International Baccalaureate or AP course, please leave the IB/AP and AP Exam Score columns blank.

5. Complete the Curriculum Plan for the upcoming term and to email it to earlycollege-myplan@ua.edu 6. After receiving approval from UA Early College staff, go to the Registration Tools channel in myBama and select Add or Drop Classes. Enter the CRN you were provided and submit the schedule change.
Consult with others and seriously consider the workload that high school and extracurricular activities will entail. At UA Early College, we want you to succeed without being overwhelmed!
