Communication with 123Scan Using a USB Cable

Scan the barcode below to enable communication between your scanner and the 123Scan configuration utility over USB. Before scanning, make sure your USB cable is properly connected between your scanner and computer. After scanning the barcode, communication should be established with your scanner within 60 seconds. The act of connecting a scanner to the PC via 123Scan may have changed the host setting from that which is desired. To ensure proper communication between your scanner and host when generating a configuration file, make sure to specify your desired communication mode in step 2 (Cable Connection) of the configuration wizard process.

Background Information Motorola scanners support the newest innovations in Remote Scanner Management (RSM) technology. For scanners with RSM 2.0 enabled firmware or newer, 123Scan automatically detects the scanner and initiates a two-way USB communication link between scanner and utility. This patent pending feature is an industry first. Three levels of RSM enabled firmware exist: RSM 2.0 or newer- Supports USB firmware upgrade, parameter loading and auto initiation of a two-way communication link RSM 1.0 - Supports USB firmware upgrade and parameter loading LEGACY - Supports parameter loading via bar code scanning only To determine if your scanners firmware is RSM 2.0 enabled: 1. Plug in your scanner using a USB cable. 2. Launch 123Scan. 3. Click Create new configuration file on the Start tab. 4. Click My scanner is connected via USB cable. If your scanner is RSM 2.0 enabled, 123Scan displays an image of your scanner and plug-in options. If 123Scan is unable to detect your scanner it lacks RSM 2.0 enabled firmware but may be RSM 1.0 enabled. If your scanner is RSM 1.0 enabled, scan the 123Scan USB Communication programming bar code above to manually enable the scanner to establish a two-way communication link with the utility. If an image of your scanner and plug-in options now appear, it is an RSM 1.0 enabled scanner. If after scanning the barcode above your scanner does not communicate with 123Scan, it is a LEGACY scanner. LEGACY scanners can be programmed via scanning programming bar codes. To generate programming bar codes launch 123Scan. The Start tab will appear, click on Create new configuration file then My scanner is NOT connected and select from the model scanners shown.
