Internship Handbook

For MBA Program, at Department of Management Sciences, Islamabad

All MBA students registered for Internships must follow the enclosed instructions/ required format for Internship Reports

Internship Program is offered as a regular 3 credits course to all MBA students. Students are required to work for an organization of their choice and interest for at least 6-8 weeks (minimum 42 working days excluding weekends) during summer break for experiential learning after the second semester of their studies. An internship experience gained after second semester is a must. If a student has done internship before second semester, it will not be considered. A provision has been made for those MBA students who are already currently working in an organization (after 2nd semester) and have some experience to submit a job/work experience report based on their work experience along with a letter job experience letter duly signed by the concerned designated authority at their organizations. Submission of an internship/job report and appearing in a viva-voce exam are the compulsory requirements of the Internship program. . The purpose is to demonstrate the skills, capabilities and attitudes learned during the work period. A secondary goal is to make students go through the process of organizational learning, go through an interview like process and demonstrate those skills and experiences to the examiners such as:

What skills and attitudes did you achieve through this internship and what evidence can you offer to demonstrate the achievement.

How did your learning objectives change over the course of the internship How did the internship contribute to your understanding of the practice of engineering and of the key skills and attitudes required to be successful.

HOW ARE INTERNS EVALUATED? A student does not automatically get a passing grade for an internship. An Internship Evaluation Panel evaluates the student's work based on the following:

all forms/reports from the student are received by stated deadlines a written professional report evaluating the internship from the student is turned in to the internship coordinator by the deadline announced in the appropriate semester. The report will be a typed report, that includes a cover page, an internship title page, sub-headings, and is free of all errors.

Evidence/evaluations from the students work site supervisor during and at the completion of the internship. The student is responsible for ensuring that these papers must be submitted along with the report in the appendices section.

Any other materials appropriate for the student to submit are based on the type of work done.

Highly critical or negative comments by employer or a grade of C or lower by the employer most often results in failing the course.
