 St. Andrew:

        Thank you so very much for all your hard work and encouragement in what we are
 calling "Operation Elmo"! Your encouragement and prayers are so appreciated,

especially as the distance to home seems to grow further every day. However,

the country of Iraq, particularly our province of influence, is turning around rapidly

 
after 3 decades of war, and is starting to come alive in an amazing way that we
 are privileged to witness. Unfortunately, because there are still some bad guys
 out there popping up from time to time, and because we are really trying to get the
 Iraqi's to be able to govern themselves, our activities "outside the wire" of our

camp are greatly restricted. Yet one of the great joys we are still able to partake in
     
is training their doctors and nurses, particularly at the children's hospital in town.

The kids are numerous, as the standard of living here is so low, and they will enjoy

 knowing that your students cared enough to send them some enduring love in the
 form of stuffed animals! The victory here will not be won in the streets but in the

hearts of those we encounter; thanks for the "ammo"! :)
       
