MAKING A TEAM DECISION: The main cause of misunderstanding about the process that the team agreed to follow is that there is a lack of understanding among the team members. The major issue was related to the delivery of software and it was important to sort it quickly since it was raising questions on their ability to deliver software at the proper time. The team identified the problem but a team member, Sally objected to the solution as he was a new employee of the company and was unaware of the traditions and practices of the company. This lead to the loss of the valuable time of the team as the were involved in solving this issue for one whole week.

In order to avoid this type of misunderstanding in future, the project leader should take the consensus of all the team members as to whether they all agree to a decision or not and whether any modifications are needed. He should also be aware of the correctness of the decision and verify it before finalizing the decision.

DEALING WITH AN UNMET EXPECTATION AND INTERPERSONAL CONFLICT: Sallys expectation was not met by Billy as there was communication gap between them and there was a huge expectation from him. If Sally and Billy have to work effectively as a team they should sort out the misunderstandings between themselves and should be able to communicate freely with each other. The project manager should be responsible to take care of nay agreement between them. In the context Billy was found to be too emotional and not satisfied with Sallys behavior. Thereby Sally should correct his behavior to make her happy. The lesson learnt from this situation is that in the corporate world there will be varied kinds of people and one has to adjust with them and get the work done by following proper communication pattern and leadership .Women should not be too emotional but handle the situation in practical manner. Teams should take care when dealing with their team members. There should be a clarity about the commitment of the members towards work.

IMPROVING THE PRODUCTIVITY OF TEAM MEETINGS: The daily team meeting can be made more productive by analyzing the performance and effectiveness of the meetings and ensuring good attendance for the meetings. The team leader has the responsibility for making the meeting productive. When a team member is unable to participate in the meeting then it is the responsibility of the co-employees and the team leader to make important useful information available to that team member. When a participant finds out that he/she is not in a position to contribute value and not receiving value then they should understand and sort out the ways and means to be more adjusted in the group and upgrade themselves quickly to the performing stage to improve the effectiveness of team meetings. This corrective action will make give them a clarity about the organizational goals and they can follow methods to improve their work standards and efficiency.

HITTING TEAM MILESTONES: Teams understanding of the objectives is of utmost importance if the organization has to ensure success in its activities. Team leader should clarify and understand objectives and convey them to the team members. He should arrange for incentives and promotion programs for performing employees so that this motivates everyone to work better to attain the organizational goals. The meaningful breaks in the action can be done by providing them with cultural activities or employee training programmes in order to refill them with new energy and enthusiasm and start their work again with more confidence and efficiency. In order to increase the teams focus and energy expending on relationship, they should be allowed to interact freely among themselves so that they develop good understanding among them. Personal interactions should be more frequent among the members in the form of informal discussions and weekend get-together so that they can understand each other in a better way.

1.Describe the work of the manager. How is Management connected with communication ? Can one manage without communication, why? Ans: Manager is the backbone of an organization. He/She is responsible to a large extant about the success and efficiency of an organization. A successful manager has to be self disciplined, responsible and presentable. He/She must also be positive, enthusiastic and a good listener. A manager must be able to work well with people and execute leadership qualities effectively. He/She must persevere in helping the company to achieve its goals. The job (role) of a project manager is extremely challenging and thereby exciting. A manager is responsible to the subordinates. He/She makes decisions, allocate resources and direct the activities to attain goals effectively and efficiently. The manager discuss all the issues regarding the organisation for better development of the organisation. Managers also perform the managerial functions like planning, controlling, directing and organizing. They determine the future course of action or objectives and goals of the organisation. They assign the work to appropriate employee. Communication is a part and parcel of the management process and is a basic function of management. A manager's communication skills are an extremely important issue for effective organizational behavior. If a manager is able to communicate his/her ideas clearly, the employees will definitely know what is expected of them and they will consequently perform their jobs accordingly. For organizations, such a communication style creates effective performance of the staff, and, consequently improvises customer loyalty and profit. In todays corporate world it is very difficult to manage without communication. The efficiency of any organization completely depends upon the communication among the mangers and the employees. In any organization the direction of flow of communication is basically vertical or downward, upward and horizontal. The intention is to communicate to subordinates the current expectations of management regarding job performance. The feedback path takes the form of an upward flow of communication which informs the manager concerning the subordinates performance and any problems which have occurred during the execution of the activities. Then corrective measures can be taken to rectify the problem and apply the appropriate solution .So the success of organization depends upon the communication.

2. Organization in the world of communication. Share your views. Ans: Communication and organization are deeply interrelated. The success of any organization largely depends on the communication pattern followed within the organization. Communication in an organization includes all the means, both formal and informal, by which information is passed up, down, and across the network of managers and employees in a business. These various modes of communication may be used to distribute official information between employees and management. The challenge for businesses is to channelize these varied communication pattern so they serve to improve customer relations and employee satisfaction, build knowledge and resource-sharing throughout the organization and enhance the firm's competitiveness. The communication has become more important to ensuring effective conduct of work in modern organization. The communication system brings out the effectiveness in an organization. Communication ensures and brings out accurate results in an organization. Thus communication plays a vital role in all process of organization to achieve its goal. Communication in Organizations consists of basic three steps. Step I: Introduces basic communication skills, and make a distinction between listening, regulating and sender skills. Step II: Consider a number of different dialogues which take place within an organization: interactions which are used to gather information, performance evaluation, selection, discussing personal problems, handling complaints, breaking bad news, and improving the sales. Step III: This is dedicated to conversations in more complex group situations, discussing decision making, conflict management, negotiations and giving presentations which are used to communicate within and outside the organization.

3.Communication can be considered as a type of interface between the organization and the individual or the organization and its environment? Would you be willing to accept this statement? Why or why not? Ans: The above statement is very relevant in contributing to the effectiveness of the organization and I support the statement completely. The meaning of above definition is there is a link/network between the members of the organisation, and the members communicate according to that network. As we know, in an organisation communication occurs between the individuals in the network formed by the structure of the organisation itself, it means that the organisational communication takes place in Downward, Horizontal, and Upward direction and also the communication takes place continuously for the effectiveness of the organisation, due to this continuous flow of information every member of the organisation is aware of the advancement in work and their own role in real time and also their own contribution in achieving the goal.

Communication is basically a sequential process, in which a message is constructed and encoded by a sender, transmitted through some channel, then received and decoded by a receiver. Distortion represents the differences between the original and the received messages. This can be identified and reduced or eliminated.

4.Describe a real life situation where there is communication failure and which in form effected you personally? Ans: Communication is a very effective tool to convey ideas to a person or a group of persons. In my personal life, I was faced with a situation in which I was subjected to an interview during the final year of my engineering. In my resume I mentioned that I was involved in a science project by helping the team which had undertaken it. While facing the interview, the interviewers misunderstood the statement and believed that I was personally involved in the project and they started asking me questions related to the project which I could not sufficiently answer. In this way I was not selected for the job due to the communication gap created due to misinterpretation of idea.
