Young practical Kenyan genius gets a medical cover from AAR and a scholarship thanks to FoNNaP
The Chairperson of FoNNaP, Dr. Paula Kahumbu is the catalyzer and has arranged a well disserved scholarship for a young brilliant Kenyan boy. The boys ingenious, local, cost effective and easy to install and maintain, invention can save millions in the human- wildlife conflict! Brookhouse School offers this genius an academic scholarship and AAR, thanks to the Group CEO, has offered Richard Turere an AAR full years medical cover.

Richards ingenious invention of keeping lions out of his fathers boma can be scaled up to save millions of shillings/dollars. Richards little device of four or five lamps, some wires and a battery costs less than ten dollars and has saved his father tens of cattle from the jaws of roaming Nairobi Park lions. The alternative that had been examined, was the possibility of building lion proof fences but at the cost of thousands of dollars each for materials, transport & labour and on top of this it was difficult to fundraise such quantities of money.
Many children suffer from respiratory and eye infections because of smoke from cooking stoves. Through its Trust AAR is keeping close watch on the positive initiatives taking place, in the development of more efficient, cleaner and therefore healthier cooking stoves. Reference to March 2011 & August 2011 bulletins, we encouraged readers to look at possibilities of upgrading their families cooking methods i.e. stoves especially in rural areas. Be environmentally friendly and healthy when cooking!
Plant your age campaign launched! on 30 April 2012 This annual tree planting campaign aims at getting every Kenyan to plant trees equivalent to their ages
Mary Echateya, General Assistant, is certainly being the change she wants to see. For months now Mary has been collecting AAR GWH empty plastic milk packets on a daily basis. These are now being used for planting tree seedlings by the AAR Beckmann Trust. Thank you Mary for taking the trouble to collect the packets! AARBT is saving thousands of shillings not having to buy plastic bags when propagating its tree seedlings!
