PERSONAL PROFILE:

Accomplished field Engineer with expertise in microwave transmission, fibre optic transmission, GSM and 3G system installations and commissioning. I have in depth knowledge of the Ericsson and Huawei equipment both transmission and RF and I am looking to expand my experience with in a role that combines new installations as well as maintenance services.
EMPLOYMENT:

Position: FIELD OPPERATIONS ENGINEER. Company: TESLA SERVICES Ltd www.tesla.co.ke (Ericsson AB partner). Location: Uganda and Rwanda.
2011- 2012 (April 2011 to date).

Duties and responsibilities; Installation, testing and commissioning Ericsson Transmission, Mini link Traffic Node (PDH and SDH). Upgrade of Baseline software of modules, (LTU155 e/o, LTU155 e, NPU1, NPU3, NPU3B MMU2D, MMU2H and MMU2F), Ericsson equipment. Working in STM-1 such as LTU configuration at aggregation sites (e.g. Performing MSP 1+1 to interconnect E1s between microwave and Optical network). Performing Traffic Routing for E1 assignment and BER testing. Traffic migration from lower capacity Traffic nodes (TN) to higher capacity nodes. Propagation protection of microwave path through 1+1 HSB, 1+1 HSB XPIC, 1+1 SD XPIC. Installation, Testing, commissioning, Integration and Troubleshooting of the RBS2206 / RBS2106/ RBS6202 RUS/ RBS6102 RUS, 900MHz and 1800MHz, Ericsson Equipment. Installation, Testing and Commissioning of BBS2206 /BBS2106, Ericsson power system.

Office reporting, work planning, and studies. Material inspection and delivery to different sites. Key achievements: I have successfully executed Ericsson operations at more than 150 Airtel sites across Uganda. I was part of the team that recently rolled out Airtel Rwanda (Kigali metropolitan) [Ericsson project]. Our team at Tesla Ltd has successfully completed the 3G expansion project which has enhanced Airtel 3G which is one of the best in Uganda. Position: FIELD ENGINEER (SITE POWER AUDIT). Company: WARID TELECOM Ltd (Eastern region). Location: Uganda.
2011 (January to April).

Duties and responsibilities; Executing a site power audit at Warid telecom Uganda sites (Huawei technologies Ltd project) which involved; Switching off both the AC mains and the generator leaving the site to run on the backup batteries (BBS). Using a voltmeter to check the voltage of the backup batteries after intervals in comparison to a default value to determine how long a site can stay on air when running on the BBS. Making reports of the results after solving the calculations involved and thus drawing conclusions. Key achievements: I successfully completed the site power audit at Warid telecom sites in Eastern Uganda. I managed to interact with and learn more about the site power systems. I managed to make deductions and propose solutions to avoid revenue leakages that occur due to site power inconsistencies. Position: FIELD TECHNICIAN. Company: BUKASA TELECOM LTD www.bukasa.co.ug (MTN sub contractor). Location: Uganda.
2010 (May to December2010).

Duties and responsibilities: Installation of the Huawei OSN 1500 and 3500 series. Assembling and installations of Microwave dishes of all sizes, radios units and link alignment.

Installation of RF feeder cables (1/2, 7/8, & 15/8 cable), terminating connectors of feeder and jumper cables for panel antennas. Terminating and testing of both BTS external and internal alarms. RF cable sweep test and troubleshooting of VSWR and DTF using Anritsu site master. Conducting pre-acceptance testing of BTS by performing VSWR and DTF reading, return loss, checking RF parameters and BTS configuration based on approved channel loading plan (CLP), test calls, local/remote reset, alarms testing, review of As-built plans based on actual inspection & site inventory. Installation of the backup batteries. Key achievements: I successfully completed the installation of 28 MTN RF sites. I successfully completed the installation of Huawei OSN 1500 series at 4 sites.

KEY SKILLS. Technical skills:

Using Ericsson minilink craft software to log in to and execute operations on the traffic node. Using the OMT software to connect to and configure the RBS. Using pathloss 4.0 planning tool. Installation of computer operating system and application programs. Safety Tower climbing and rigging skills.
Personal skills:

High engineering sense i.e. great trouble shooting abilities, good communication skills, and great creativity. Hard working and committed to quality. Self-motivated dynamic team player.
