Single Boiler System

Boiler System Run Conditions:


The boiler system is enabled to run whenever:

A definable number of hot water coils need heating.


AND outside air temperature is less than 65°F (adj.).

To prevent short cycling, the boiler system runs for and be off for minimum adjustable
times (both user definable), unless shutdown on safeties or outside air conditions.

The boiler runs subject to its own internal safeties and controls.

The boiler system also runs for freeze protection whenever outside air temperature is less
than 38°F (adj.).

Boiler Safeties:
The following safeties are monitored:

Boiler alarm.
Low Water Level.

Alarms are provided as follows:

Boiler alarm.
Low Water Level alarm.

Hot Water Pump:


The hot water pump runs anytime the boiler is called to run and has a user adjustable
delay on stop.

Alarms are provided as follows:

Hot Water Pump Failure: Commanded on, but the status is off.
Hot Water Pump Running in Hand: Commanded off, but the status is on.
Hot Water Pump Runtime Exceeded: Status runtime exceeds a user definable
limit.

Circulation Pump:
The circulation pump runs anytime the boiler is called to run and has a user definable
(adj.) delay on stop.

Alarms are provided as follows:

Circulation Pump Failure: Commanded on, but the status is off.


Circulation Pump Running in Hand: Commanded off, but the status is on.

Circulation Pump Runtime Exceeded: Status runtime exceeds a user definable
limit.

Boiler Enable:
The boiler is enabled when the boiler system is commanded on. The boiler is
enabled after pump status is proven on and runs subject to its own internal safeties and
controls.

Alarms are provided as follows:

Boiler Failure: Commanded on, but the status is off.


Boiler Running in Hand: Commanded off, but the status is on.
Boiler Runtime Exceeded: Status runtime exceeds a user definable limit.

Hot Water Supply Temperature Setpoint:


The boiler maintains a hot water supply temperature setpoint as determined by its own
internal controls (provided by others).

Primary Hot Water Temperature Monitoring:


The following temperatures are monitored:

Primary hot water supply.


Primary hot water return.

Alarms are provided as follows:

High Primary Hot Water Supply Temp: If greater than 200°F (adj.).
Low Primary Hot Water Supply Temp: If less than 100°F (adj.).

Fan Coil Unit

Run Conditions - Scheduled:


The unit runs according to a user definable time schedule in the following modes:

Occupied Mode: The unit maintains


o A 74°F (adj.) cooling setpoint
o A 70°F (adj.) heating setpoint.
Unoccupied Mode (night setback): The unit maintains
o A 85°F (adj.) cooling setpoint.
o A 55°F (adj.) heating setpoint.

Alarms are provided as follows:

High Zone Temp: If the zone temperature is greater than the cooling setpoint by a
user definable amount (adj.).
Low Zone Temp: If the zone temperature is less than the heating setpoint by a
user definable amount (adj.).

Demand Limiting - Zone Setpoint Optimization:


To lower power consumption, the zone setpoints automatically relax when the facility
power consumption exceeds user definable thresholds. The amount of relaxation is
individually configurable for each zone. The zone setpoints automatically return to their
previous settings when the facility power consumption drops below the thresholds.

Zone Setpoint Adjust:


The occupant is able to adjust the zone temperature heating and cooling setpoints at the
zone sensor.

Zone Optimal Start:


The unit uses an optimal start algorithm for morning start-up. This algorithm minimizes
the unoccupied warm-up or cool-down period while still achieving comfort conditions by
the start of scheduled occupied period.

Zone Unoccupied Override:


A timed local override control allows an occupant to override the schedule and place the
unit into an occupied mode for an adjustable period of time. At the expiration of this
time, control of the unit automatically returns to the schedule.

Smoke Detection:
The unit shuts down and generates an alarm upon receiving a smoke detector status.

Fan:
The fan runs anytime the unit is commanded to run, unless shutdown on safeties.

Cooling Coil Valve:
The controller measures the zone temperature and modulates the cooling coil valve to
maintain its cooling setpoint.

The cooling is enabled whenever:

Outside air temperature is greater than 60°F (adj.).


AND the zone temperature is above cooling setpoint.
AND the fan is on.

The cooling coil valve opens whenever the freezestat senses a low temp condition.

Heating Coil Valve:


The controller measures the zone temperature and modulates the heating coil valve to
maintain its heating setpoint.

The heating is enabled whenever:

Outside air temperature is less than 65°F (adj.).


AND the zone temperature is below heating setpoint.
AND the fan is on.

The heating coil valve opens whenever the freezestat senses a low temp condition.

Fan Status:
The controller monitors the fan status.

Alarms are provided as follows:

Reversing Variable Volume Terminal Unit - Flow Control:


The unit maintains zone setpoints by controlling the airflow through one of the following:

Occupied:

When zone temperature is greater than its cooling setpoint, the zone damper
modulates between the minimum occupied airflow (adj.) and the maximum
cooling airflow (adj.) until the zone is satisfied.
When the zone temperature is between the cooling setpoint and the heating
setpoint, the zone damper maintains the minimum required zone ventilation (adj.).
When zone temperature is less than its heating setpoint, the controller enables
heating to maintain the zone temperature at its heating setpoint. Additionally, if
warm air is available from the AHU, the zone damper modulates between the
minimum occupied airflow (adj.) and the maximum heating airflow (adj.) until
the zone is satisfied.

Unoccupied:

When the zone is unoccupied the zone damper controls to its minimum
unoccupied airflow (adj.).
When the zone temperature is greater than its cooling setpoint, the zone damper
modulates between the minimum unoccupied airflow (adj.) and the maximum
cooling airflow (adj.) until the zone is satisfied.
When zone temperature is less than its unoccupied heating setpoint, the controller
enables heating to maintain the zone temperature at the setpoint. Additionally, if
warm air is available from the AHU, the zone damper modulates between the
minimum unoccupied airflow (adj.) and the auxiliary heating airflow (adj.) until
the zone is satisfied.

Heating Coil Valve:


The controller measures the zone temperature and modulate the heating coil valve to
maintain its heating setpoint.

Discharge Air Temperature:


The controller monitors the discharge air temperature.

Please Read Instructions Carefully Before Installation!


 Safety
 This product is not intended to be used for Life or Safety applications.
!  This product is not intended for use in any hazardous or classified locations.
 Disconnect and lock out all power sources before installation as severe injury or death may result from electrical
shock due to contact with high voltage wires.

 Installation
Make sure that all installations are in compliance with all national and local electrical codes. Only qualified individuals that are
familiar with codes, standards, and proper safety procedures for high-voltage installations should attempt installation. The current
switches will not require external power, since the power for the current switch is induced from the conductor being monitored.
Warning: Never rely on the Red LED to determine whether power is present at the current switch. The Red LED will
indicate whether the current is above (LED On) or below (LED OFF) the fixed trip point.
The A/SCS Series Current Switches should be used on Insulated Conductors Only! The current switch may be mounted in any
position using the (2) #8 x 3/4” Tek screws and the mounting holes in the base or snapped directly on to the 35mm DIN rail (See
Figures 1 & 2 below). Leave a minimum distance of 1” (3 cm) between the current
switch and any other magnetic devices such as contactors and transformers.

 Latch Operation:
Pressing down on the two (2) side tabs and swinging the cover open opens the split core current switch as shown in Figure 3 below.
Lifting up on the latch with a flat-tip screwdriver as shown in Figure 4 below can also open the unit. Press down firmly on the
cover to close the current switch. An audible “click” will be heard as the tab slides over the tongue on the base.

! Caution: Mating surfaces of the magnetic core are exposed when the sensor is open. Silicone grease, present on the cores to
prevent rust, can capture grit and dirt if care is not exercised. Operation can be impaired if anything prevents good
contact between pole pieces. Visually check the mating parts of the core before closing the current sensor.

For applications in which the normal operating current is below the 2.5A trip point (See Figure 5 below), the conductor being
monitored may be looped through the sensor 10 times giving you a total operating current of 10X the original current.
Example: A small fan operating at 0.2A should be wrapped through the sensor 15 times to give you a total operating current of
3.0 Amps flowing through the A/SCS or another option is to use the A/SCS-L.

 Wiring
ACI recommends the use of a 2 conductor 16 to 22 AWG shielded cable or twisted pair copper wire only for all current switch
applications. A maximum wire length of less than 30 meters (98.4 feet) should be used between the A/CS Series current switches
and the Building Management System or controller. Note: When using a shielded cable, be sure to connect only (1) end of the
shield to ground at the controller. Connecting both ends of the shield to ground may cause a ground loop. When removing the
shield from the sensor end, make sure to properly trim the shield so as to prevent any chance of shorting. The current switch output
terminals represent a solid-state switch for controlling both AC and DC loads and is not polarity sensitive. The recommended
torque to be used on the terminal block connections is 0.67 Nm or 5.93 in-lbs. The aperture (hole) size of the current switch is
0.75” (1.90 cm) and will accept a maximum cable diameter of 350 MCM’s.

Problem Solution
LED is on but the current switch didn’t activate Disconnect the wires from the current switch output. Measure the resistance
across the contacts with an Ohmmeter. See Figure 9 below for the actual
resistance readings for an open or closed switch reading.

Application
For On/Off, fail-safe control of dampers in HVAC systems. Actuator sizing should
be done in accordance with the damper manufacturer’s specifications. Control is
On/Off from an auxiliary contact, or a manual switch.
The actuator is mounted directly to a damper shaft up to 1.05” in diameter by
means of its universal clamp. A crank arm and several mounting brackets are
available for applications where the actuator cannot be direct coupled to the
damper shaft.

Operation
The NF series actuators provide true spring return operation for reliable fail-safe
application and positive close off on air tight dampers. The spring return system
provides constant torque to the damper with, and without, power applied to the
actuator.
The NF series provides 95° of rotation and is provided with a graduated position
indicator showing 0° to 95°.
The actuator may be stalled anywhere in its normal rotation without the need of
mechanical end switches.
The NF24-S US version is provided with 1 built in auxiliary switch. This SPDT
switch is provided for safety interfacing or signaling, for example, for fan start-
up. The switching function is adjustable between 5° and 85°.

Installation

Installation
The valve can be installed vertically or horizontally, but not turned upside down.

– A 3-way valve cannot be transformed into a 2-way valve and


visa versa.

– The flow is from A to B (see diagram below) and must be


installed so the paddle closes against the direction of flow
as indicated in the following diagrams.

– The 2-way valves can be installed on the supply or on the (NO) B A (NC)
return; for correct installation it is necessary to respect the
direction of flow indicated from the arrow on the body valve.

– The NC versions have a override handle. AB

MODEL M230

DESCRIPTION
The Model M230 Wet/Wet Differential Pressure
Transmitter is a highly accurate differential pressure
transmitter that incorporates a capacitive technology to
produce a linear electronic signal proportional to the dif-
ferential pressure. It will measure differential pressure in
unidirectional applications as much as 100 psig and
bidirectional applications as much as 50 psig. The stain-
less steel wetted parts and elastomer seals make this
unit ideal for both liquids and gases. The NEMA 4 (IP65)
case keeps the internal electronics protected from the
environment.

Operation Wiring
The H723HC is a current transducer that senses current (amperage) in any of three DDC
field-selectable ranges: 0-50, 0-100, or 0-200 amperes. These ranges represent CONTROLLER
the maximum current that can be applied to the monitored conductor. The H723HC
AI
transforms the monitored current into a 0-10 VDC output suitable for connection to
building controllers or other appropriate data acquisition equipment. The H723HC COMM –
requires no 12-30VDC external power to generate its output. + Self-Powered Output
