Goal Vs Leadership A fish rots from the head & a goal rots inside leadership if not the leadership

itself is rotten Little hard to understand but when I see it practically happening around mediocre companies I know how true it is. The leadership & goal runs hand in hand along the organizational hierarchy. If a leadership hierarchy can be divided among lower level to higher level and the goal is divided from short term to long term then their relationship goes in the following way. Short term goal --------------------> Long term goal

Small leader

<---------------------

Big leader

In other words Goal runs from left to right whereas leadership runs from right to left. Small leaders are to look after the short term goals and as the leader becomes bigger along the leadership level ,he is to look into the long or the longer term goals. Big leaders look into the future and brings out the deep rooted benefit from there. He is as if holding a telescope in his hand , scaling the deep horizon for finding out future benefits. While on the other hand the small leader is holding a microscope in his hand to observe the object very minutely looking it from inside out. The big leader on the other hand looks at it from outside in. Of course both these types of goals are necessary for achieving a healthy progress of the organization. If a short term goal is set for a suitable leadership he will always try to execute it will full efficiency & efficacy whereas on the other hand his leader who has a long term outlook of the same job would decide whether the job to be done at all or not. But many a times I see the leadership is turned into a commotion or a confluence where every kinds of leaders get involved in every kinds of goals. The big or small all wraps their hands to do all kinds of jobs. But when the scene is analyzed under scanner it actually turns out to be the big leader usurps the roles of the small leaders and the small leaders despite utmost efforts gives up his role and usurps the roles of levels below his ranks. Now the big leader is in role playing small leaders but that does not mean that besides this role he is playing his roles

too. Not at all ! He is actually giving up his own roles and instead took up this new role. It's like being a class-XII student you are writing class-X papers it's so easy , he gets full marks !. Since a few roles are now just evaporated so are a few goals are not there any more ! For quite a handful reasons now the quality of the job suffers to a great extent besides hampering the growth of the leadership chains. Neither the leaders develop nor the subordinate develops in the process. Also the organization blindly pampers these leaders for achieving a 'great' goal while they don't see that he is writing the wrong paper ! The process goes into auto encouragement and the leadership chain further goes into turmoil. And the goal rots... S. Bera
