DetailedRulesfortheImplementationof ShanghaiGovernmentScholarshipforInternationalStudents atDonghuaUniversityin2012

ThefollowingdetailedrulesareformulatedinaccordancewiththeimplementationofShanghaiGovernment Scholarship for International Students (SGS). The role of this program is to attract more outstanding prospectiveinternationalstudentstopursuedegreeprogramslearningatDonghuaUniversity(DHU).

I.CategoriesandQuotas
1. ClassA(FullScholarship):10quotas.Excellentprospectivestudentsapplyingformasterordoctoraldegree programs.ThosedonotneedtotakeremedialChinesecourseswillhavepriority. 2. ClassB(PartialScholarship):20quotas.Excellentprospectivestudentsapplyingforundergraduate,master, ordoctoraldegreeprograms.ThosedonotneedtotakeremedialChinesecourseswillhavepriority.

II.ScholarshipAwards
1. Class A (Full Scholarship): Exempt from tuition, fees associated with basic academic materials and accommodation.Insuranceforseriousdiseasesandmajoraccidentalinjuries.Doctoraldegreestudentscan enjoy this award for 3 years, with monthly living allowance of 2000RMB; Master degree students for 2.5 years,withmonthlylivingallowanceof1700RMB.IfthestudenthastohaveremedialChinesecourses,this scholarshipdurationwillextendonemoreacademicyear. 2. Class B (Partial Scholarship): Exempt from tuition and fees associated with basic academic materials. Insuranceforseriousdiseasesandmajoraccidentalinjuries.Doctoraldegreestudentscanenjoythisaward for 3 years, master students for 2.5 years, and undergraduate students for 4 years. If the student has to haveremedialChinesecourses,thescholarshipdurationwillextendonemoreacademicyear.

III.Eligibility
1. 2. ApplicantsmustbenonChinesenationalsingoodhealth. Educationbackgroundandagelimit: - Applicantsfordoctoraldegreestudiesmusthavemastersdegreeandbeundertheageof40; - Applicantsformasterdegreestudiesmusthavebachelorsdegreeandbeundertheageof35; - Applicantsforundergraduatestudiesmusthavecompletedseniorhighschoolandbeundertheageof25. 3. 4. Outstandinginacademicstudyanddailyperformance. NotbeenawardedanyotherChinesegovernmentscholarshipsatthesametime.

Notarized translated copies in Chinese or Englisharealsoacceptable. b) StudyplaninEnglishorChinesewithapplicantssignature.Informationsuchasbasicpersonalinformation,education background,workingexperience,andinterestedresearchprojectsandresearchplanifwereacceptedasthedoctoral studentshouldbeincluded. c) 2 recommendation letters in English or Chinese. 5 CopyofHSKCertificateLevel5(eitheroldornewgradingsystem)oraboveobtainedinthelast2years isrequiredifthecoursesareinstructedinChinese.

6 CopyofIELTSmarksheetofoverallband6.5(orabove)obtainedinthelast2years,TOFELmarksheet, result of equivalent English test (refer to the IELTS grade) is required if the courses are instructed in English. Native English speakers and applicants whose previous degree was taken in English are exemptedfromthelanguagerequirement. 7 ApplicantsformastersprogramofArtTheory,StudyofFineArtsandDesignStudiesshould submit2 recentworks,whichshouldbeoriginalworksoftheapplicantswithoneinpencilsketchandtheotherin watercolor. 8 Otherrelatedcertificateordocuments.
Note: IftheoriginalcopyofdiplomaisinEnglishorChinese,electroniccopyorphotocopyisacceptableinapplication. International Cultural Exchange School needs to check the original copy of HSK certificate, IELTS or equivalent English testsmarksheetanddiplomaatnewstudentsregistration.Iftheydoesnotconsistwiththephotocopyorelectroniccopy submittedintheapplication,DHUwillrefusetoenrollthestudent.

AdmittedstudentsofmastersprogramofArtTheory,StudyofFineArtsandDesignStudieshavetohavethepaining

V.ApplicationDeadlineandReview
1. Applicantsshouldsubmitthecompleteapplicationmaterialsmentionedaboveandpaytheapplicationfee toInternationalStudentAdmissionsDept.ofInternationalCulturalExchangeSchoolofDonghuaUniversity (ICESDHU)beforeMay31,2012. 2. The application package of qualified applicants will first be transferred to related schools or colleges for review, then to Donghua University Review Committee on Scholarship for International Students (RCSISDHU) for the final decision of the scholarship recipient. Interview (face to face or via telephone/ Skype)mayberequestedifitsnecessary. 3. TheselectedSGSrecipientsmustrespondtoDHUifhe/sheagreestoacceptthescholarshipresultbefore June.29,2012.Otherwise,ICESreservestherighttocancelhis/herscholarshipqualification. 4. ICESwillissuetheAdmissionNoticeandFormofVisaApplicationforStudy(JW202)tothefinalscholarship recipientbasedonthereviewandinterviewresultsaswellastherecipientsacceptance.Ifthescholarship recipient fails to register at ICES on time, he/she will be regarded as abandonment of the scholarship automatically. 5. Scholarship recipient should participate in the Scholarship Annual Review at the beginning of each July. RCSISDHU will perform a comprehensive review of scholarship recipients academic records, learning attitude,performance,rewardsorpunishmentreceived.Studentisqualifiedtoenjoythescholarshipinthe followingacademicyearifhe/shepassedtheannualreview.Thescholarshipwillbeterminatedifhe/she fails. 6. The review results will be reported to Shanghai Municipal Education Commission for archive after the annualreview.
