EOM5000 Ethernet Port Support Tagged VLAN
Since 1-Jan-2008, the Ethernet interface is upgraded to support Tag VLAN (tagged) and Port VLAN (untagged) setting. The corresponding A-Terminal software version of V.3.3 or later is required. For any further queries, please contact our technical support term by email to:- tech-support@aisaicom.com. If malfunction of the system is found, it is not recommended to change any electronic component on any module. Please contact Aisai sale representative or our RMA department (rma@aisaicom.com) for maintenance request. No authorized modification of the circuit board will void the warranty agreement with Aisai and we have no responsibility for such unauthorized action.
Remark: The previous VLAN setting support local side VLAN only and the VLAN setting cannot pass through the fiber network. The upgraded Tag VLAN is used to solve this issue, and that can partition and group the local and remote ports freely.
1 Preface
1.1 General
Aisai design and produce the new generation of EtherOptic multiplexer EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) system, which enhances the system flexibility and reliability to cater for various market demands. By using the TDM technology, EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) carries ensured 100 Mbps bandwidth Ethernet data with E1 signal together over the fiber network. Two additional expansion slots adopt different kinds of data or voice module depends on demand. The EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) maintains the adoption of FPGA and large scale ASIC technologies, which make the EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) function rich, reliable and more cost effective. The EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) has two base models; EOM-5000-M (MARK-II)-A provides built-in 4 x E1 channels; and EOM-5000-M (MARK-II)-B provides built-in 4 x E1 plus 4 x 10/100BT switching Ethernet ports. It is field upgradeable from EOM-5000-M (MARK-II)-A to EOM-5000-M (MARK-II)-B. With the additional expansions slots, customer can select to install different kinds of E1 / V.35 / V.11 / V.24 data module or FXS / FXO voice module. Enhancement of modular hot swappable fiber interface with optional optical link protection (1+1); customer can add the feature later on when service is required. Dual core fiber or single core fiber with built-in WDM is also available for customer selection. The E1 interface of EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) conforms to ITU-T G.703, G.742 and G.823. The Ethernet switching ports support learning bridge and IEEE 802.1q VLAN. The EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) EtherOptic mux has the comprehensive self diagnostic and supports different kinds of channel and aggregate link loopback. The built-in sound buzzer and LED indicators for audible and visible alarm of optical link and tributary channel. Alarm dry contact relay also supported for the external alarm facility connection. All these simplify the fault isolation and the system diagnosis becomes easier. Optional redundancy power supply is available, and can be any combination of AC+DC or DC+DC power redundancy. The EOM design is highly compact, reliable and environmental hardened. Standard SNMP agent, an external management unit, NMS-ETH-S is provided for cost saving to management a volume of EOM links. Internal management module, NMS-ETH-M is an optional module, also supported for individual link management. The management unit and module supports standard SNMP agent, web management, telnet and VT100 console access. SNMP agent is SNMP v1 / v2 compliant. The most cost effective solution for system management today, "A-Web Manager", the web browser management that provides the GUI monitoring and control.
19 rack mountable, 1U height compact size; Multi-services with voice / data and IP over optical link; Guaranty 100Mbps bandwidth through for Ethernet transport; Learning bridge and IEEE 802.1q VLAN supported on the Ethernet switching ports;

2.1.3
Loopback Control
The loopback control is accomplished with the combination of dip switch setting. "SW1-3" defines the loopback position on the aggregate link or individual E1 channel. "SW1-1" defines the loopback location on local or remote unit, and then "SW1-2" is used to activate or deactivate the loopback function. Once the tributary E1 channel loopback is required ("SW1-3" set "OFF"), "SW1-4 ~ 7" defines which channel is in-looped. 2.1.4
When 1+1 optical link module is equipped, the "SW2-2" is used to define the switching mode of the APS.
l
Force Mode ("SW2-2" "OFF") The Primary Optic Link is set with higher priority and forced to be used. When Primary Link fails, the APS will function and switch to Secondary Link as usual. But it will switch back automatically once the Primary Link is resumed.
Auto Mode ("SW2-2" "ON") When optical signal loss detected on either Primary or Secondary Optic Link, switch over is occurred automatically and stay on. Fall back will not action even the faulty optic link is back to normal. Such action is used to maintain the system stability and prevent interruption of intermittent link fault.
2.1.5
Device Address
When multiple units are controlled via the RS485 management port located on the rear panel, each unit must be assigned with an unique address to avoid command conflict. The device address is defined by "SW2-5 ~ 8", and using the binary coding address scheme. "SW2-5" is the MSB and "SW2-8" is the LSB. 2) Sound alarm condition indicates that any of the following conditions: (a) fiber optic disconnection, 'MOL' lit 'RED'; (b) system sync loss, 'SSL' lit 'RED'; (c) remote site alarm detected; (d) tributary E1 signal loss. 3) Use the dip switch MASK to mask the unused tributary E1 alarm, but it will not affect the monitoring of the system. The buzzer will sound up when new tributary alarm on the existing channel appeared.
3.4 Maintenance
1) EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) was adjusted in best working status before shipping, all switch and interface located on both the front and rear panels. No need to open the enclosure for further adjustment. Please dont open it without permit. 2) If device is not working properly, loop back at either one side for fault isolation and troubleshooting.

5.2 Connection
All EOM5000 product supports console control via the RS485 port equipped on the rear panel of the unit. The RS485 port is a parallel bus structure, so maximum of 15 links of EOM5000 can be daisy chained for just only one single console access. The unit connected with the RS485 bus should assign an unique bus address. Please refer to the User Guide for device address setting.

For the daisy chain several EOM5000, special attaching cable is needed and the cable is not supplied mandatory. As the RS485 parallel bus communication distance reach can be extended up to 100 meters. It is recommended to add a terminator resistor (120 ohm, 1/4 W) over the transmit bus at the end device when distance reach more than 10 meters or above.
