EOM5000 Ethernet Port Support Tagged VLAN

Since 1-Jan-2008, the Ethernet interface is upgraded to support Tag VLAN (tagged) and Port VLAN (untagged) setting. The corresponding A-Terminal software version of V.3.3 or later is required. For any further queries, please contact our technical support term by email to:- tech-support@aisaicom.com. If malfunction of the system is found, it is not recommended to change any electronic component on any module. Please contact Aisai sale representative or our RMA department (rma@aisaicom.com) for maintenance request. No authorized modification of the circuit board will void the warranty agreement with Aisai and we have no responsibility for such unauthorized action.

Remark: The previous VLAN setting support local side VLAN only and the VLAN setting cannot pass through the fiber network. The upgraded Tag VLAN is used to solve this issue, and that can partition and group the local and remote ports freely.

3 System Installation and Maintenance

3.1 Installation
1) The EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) can be mounted at any height of 19 rack or put it on a flat table as a desktop unit. 2) For the DC power supplied unit, check the input (+/-) voltage of power supply with power meter and ensure that is the right supply voltage, then make connection to power supply screw block of the unit. Normally the supply ground connects to the "+" terminal, the DC volt output to the "-" terminal and the protective ground to the "GND" terminal. For the AC power supplied unit, make connect the power cable to the AC supply source and ensure the protective ground is connected. The resistance between the protective ground and the power ground should less than 6 ohm. 3) Switch "ON" the power and 'PWR' indicator should be lit up that indicates the power supply to the unit is working normal. 4) Ensure the fiber optic cables are clean before making connection. Insert the fiber cable and screw on to the "IN" terminal (fiber optic curvature =>50mm) of the optic link connector. The 'MOL' indicator should be distinguished that indicates the optical signal is received if the remote unit have the transmit signal on the fiber. Insert the fiber cable to the "OUT" terminal and the 'MOL' indicator on the remote unit should be 'OFF'. 5) Enable the tributary alarm detection (dip switch of MASK is set to "ON"), make connection of the E1 data cables to the IN1 / OUT1, IN2 / OUT2, IN3 / OUT3, IN4 / OUT4 . IN8 / OUT8 with the external E1 devices. If the 'LOS1', ' LOS2', ' LOS3', ' LOS4' ' LOS8' goes 'OFF' accordingly, that indicates the E1 data send into the fiber multiplexer correctly. 6) Once finish the above procedures, the simple installation is completed and the device should be in normal operation. If management module is used for the device or network management, follows the step 7. 7) Make connection to the console port to the external management hub. Since the console port is using RS485 parallel bus, several devices can be managed. Each device must be assigned with a unique device address by using the dip switches of "ADDR".

3.2 System commissioning

1) Order-wire Phone: When optical link is in good working status, put a telephone handset into the RJ10 socket on the front panel and push the "CALL" button. Remote device should have ringing alert. Push the "CALL" button in remote device and voice communication can be started. Aisai Communication Technology Co., Ltd - P. 11-

EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) User Guide

2) Sound alarm condition indicates that any of the following conditions: (a) fiber optic disconnection, 'MOL' lit 'RED'; (b) system sync loss, 'SSL' lit 'RED'; (c) remote site alarm detected; (d) tributary E1 signal loss. 3) Use the dip switch MASK to mask the unused tributary E1 alarm, but it will not affect the monitoring of the system. The buzzer will sound up when new tributary alarm on the existing channel appeared.

3.3 Keynote of Installation

1) Properly laid out fiber optical cable, curvature must be at least 50 mm or more. 2) Carefully checks the values of power voltage, positive and negative whether or not match with rear panel indication. Otherwise, device could be damaged permanently. 3) Keep fiber optic connectors clean. We recommend clean the connectors with alcohol before connection. Otherwise, the transmission margin may be affected and ultimately affect the transmission distance. 4) Improperly fiber optic cable connection should cause transmit signal and receive signal margin lose. Align the fiber cable with the connector carefully.

3.4 Maintenance
1) EOM-5000-M (MARK-II) was adjusted in best working status before shipping, all switch and interface located on both the front and rear panels. No need to open the enclosure for further adjustment. Please dont open it without permit. 2) If device is not working properly, loop back at either one side for fault isolation and troubleshooting.

3.5 Environment and grounding requirement

1) Location should be easy for person entry and device handled. 2) Keep dry, clean and good ventilation. 3) To enhance anti-static electricity and lighting strike, enclosure should be grounding while installation. Rack mount connecting is as following:

5 A-Terminal Operation Guide

5.1 Introduction
EOM5000 enhance the network management capability, and several ways of control access are provided with and without network management module. When the unit has no management module equipped, console access by using the A-Terminal can be achieved via the RS485 port of every EOM5000 device. Remark: When the built-in management module (NMS-ETH-M) is equipped, the RS485 port of that device becomes a control output port and cannot be used for A-Terminal access (data conflict will appear). The NMS-ETH-M can manage up to 15 x EOM5000 links by using the parallel RS485 bus cable attach to that RS485 control output port associated with an unique device address defined.

5.2 Connection
All EOM5000 product supports console control via the RS485 port equipped on the rear panel of the unit. The RS485 port is a parallel bus structure, so maximum of 15 links of EOM5000 can be daisy chained for just only one single console access. The unit connected with the RS485 bus should assign an unique bus address. Please refer to the User Guide for device address setting.

Figure 5.1 Console Connection with FOM-M MK2 Most the PC provides RS232 com port; Aisai will provide a RS232/RS485 Converter with a RS485 Attaching Cable with the EOM5000 equipment. The access software A-Terminal is also provided for the console access.

For the daisy chain several EOM5000, special attaching cable is needed and the cable is not supplied mandatory. As the RS485 parallel bus communication distance reach can be extended up to 100 meters. It is recommended to add a terminator resistor (120 ohm, 1/4 W) over the transmit bus at the end device when distance reach more than 10 meters or above.
