5.2 Description 5.2.1 Make preparation SA & DBA prepare the Redhat Enterprise Linux5.5 32bits installation disk, at ftp://196.28.237.212/it_dept/Iso_image/operative_system_image/rhel-server5.5-i386-dvd.iso SA & DBA prepare information of rhel-server that will be installed, according to the Redhat Installation Matrix 5.2.2 Installation 1) Pre-install requires: - The OS should be installed with the following software, with full packages in each: GNOME Desktop Environment Editors Graphical Internet Text-based Internet Development Libraries Development Tools Server Configuration Tools Administration Tools Base System Tools X Window System - The OS must have the following partition/or following the Server Instalation Matrix of (Server information that will be installed)1 / with at least 3GB free /usr with at least 4GB free /temp with at least 2GB free /opt with at least 1GB free /u01 with at least 3GB free /u02 with at least 3GB free swap with at least 4GB RAM with at least 2GB

1 Depending on the Server to be installed the Partitions should be diferente

2) Installation - Put the Redhat installation disk into the DVDROM or Download from ftp server. Load the CD/DVD from Boot. At the boot screen, press the Enter key Press the tab key to move focus to the skip key then press Enter

Step 9: highlight the free space then click new to add particion

Step 10: on the mount point fill/choose the name and fill the size in MB and clik ok

Step 11: at the next screen you can see all details about the partion you created. To add more do the same step

Step 12: note=the swap its a system file, and for the last partition make sure you choose fill to maximum allowable size After your create all partition click next

Step 15: choose manual configuration and then type your IP address, then click ok

Step 16: type the hostname according to your Server or leave the defalt then click next

Step 17: enter the Gateway IP, then click on next the error screen will be displayed press continue

Step 18: choose region on the list or point to the map, then click next
