Members at Mr. Heart Throb, a philanthropy event for heart health

Hello Alpha Phi Parents! One of the scariest and exciting moments in my life was leaving for college. I felt I was jumping into an ocean with a deflated life preserver to keep me afloat. For me, joining a sorority was like being pulled up onto a boat filled with dozens of other girls like me, who were willing to dry me off and help me weather the storms. Alpha Phi is one of the most amazing opportunities Ive been lucky enough to partake in. Being a founding member of what is sure to be a powerful figure on Greek Row makes me so proud. Its so hard to believe this school year will be coming to a close in a few short weeks and that we will be saying goodbye to several of our sisters as they graduate. I feel like a few days ago I was receiving my invitation to preference day and being offered a bid to become an Alpha Phi, yet Im writing this after just being initiated into the wonderful sisterhood Alpha Phi provides. I do not believe that anyone could have expected that after only a few short months on campus, Alpha Phi would be turning heads as our new members show what our sisterhood is made of. I am proud to say I am part of this group of intelligent and beautiful women who are active on campus and in the community around the University of Utah. I feel that every member embodies the values that both Alpha Phi and society praise: Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Loyalty, and Strong Character. Thank you for lending us your daughters for these years in their lives. --Anna Ferguson Parent Relations Officer

I joined Alpha Phi on September 16, 2011 and have never looked back. In the beginning Alpha Phi was a group of women with similar interests and goals. We all were anxious to start a new sorority on campus and bring the best of ourselves to the Greek community and the University Utah. ...Handwe all handofandThroughthe to heart out the months to worked so hard to ensure success of Alpha Phi. We exceeded the expectations of so many by winning major competitions on campus, recruiting amazing leaders to our organization, and raising a significant amount of money for our philanthropy. Over the course of the school year Alpha Phi has become more than a group of women wanting to make a difference. Alpha Phi has become an unspoken bond, a true sisterhood. When we were told that we would be initiated in the spring of 2012 we all felt an immense amount of joy. On March 23, 2012 I became an initiated member of Alpha Phi Fraternity. Initiation was a safe, friendly, and unforgettable experience. Through the experience I could feel the love and sisterhood that beamed through out the room. We had finally reached our goal, together, as sisters. Even though Alpha Phi does not have a physical place on campus, it is an intangible place in our hearts. No matter where I am I know that my sisters have my back and will support me through out my life. I love being apart of an organization that means more than shopping, boys, and gossip. Alpha Phi means family, love, and loyalty. I am so grateful to be a founding member of the Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi.

This year has been so amazing and I'd like to thank all of the girl's and their parents for making everything that we do possible. Without the support of each member we wouldn't be able to do the things we've been able to so far.

and to be honest I didn't know what to expect. However, here we were fresh with a new budget, new girls, new ideas, and new memories to be made. Much of December our Spring Life Greek formal was planned; I'd like to thank everyone who helped make our first formal such a success, and Formals and Exchanges with Alpha Phi I'm so proud of how it turned out. Girls returning from the fall By Sierra Gonzales who had recently accepted and all of the new members bids had such a great time and everyone looked phenomenal! Planning exchanges is no easy task, during the planning process I sit down with the fraternities social chair and we discuss interests of our members along with what we think would bring the biggest turn out. Our first exchange of the spring semester was with the gentleman of Delta Sigma; we put together a live action "Where's Waldo?" game played downtown throughout the Gateway. It was a chance for our girls to meet the Delta Sig's because it was our first ever exchange with them. The turn out from Alpha Phi wasn't as big as I had planned, but I know that the girls who were there along with myself had a great time. During winter break Jon Nielson, Director of Social Events from Beta Theta Pi contacted me and we were eager to plan a date for Alpha Phi and Beta to get together. This exchange was one of the funnest activities I've gotten to be apart of so far. I'm sure it was the thrill that I had never met any Beta boys and we had in common that it was each of our first years back to the U. Jon and I really wanted to plan something that would get the biggest turn out, allow for all of us to mingle, try something new, and us Alpha Phi's wanted to show we weren't typical sorority girls. So we went paintballing! Paintballing has been by far the most successful exchange, it was also so different from anything we did last semester as well, and it got such great reviews from all members of each. Jon and I have discussed possibly making it a Beta and Alpha Phi tradition. We've also had an exchange with the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon, Arash and I were eager to plan another exchange between our two houses. Last fall Alpha Phi's married Sig Eps which was fun and this semester we did a date dash. This was well-timed, considering we're partnered up with Sig Ep for Greek Week. It was nice being able to meet most of their house and have short conversations that have actually sparked a few new friendships! I have two more exchanges to end the semester, both of which I'm really excited about! One with Sigma Chi, the other with Phi Delta Theta; the social chairs from each house contacted me early in the semester eager to plan something. I'm really excited about what we've discussed and our potential plans. Along with exchanges, I'm really excited about our upcoming date night which will be held mid April. Date night last semester was a hit and I've got

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support this last semester. I wasn't quite sure of where to start, but the further we go the better it all gets. I'm thrilled to be returning next fall when I'll be able to plan so much more activities and have this spring as background to make sure that next fall is an even bigger success. Thank you all Alpha Phi's and supporters!
