Part-Time (32 hrs/week) Job Summary: Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic (CMCC) is a state licensed holistic health clinic that provides free complementary alternative medicine treatments and social services to underserved women with cancer. Our services include acupuncture, Chinese and western herbs, homeopathy, massage therapy, guided imagery, plus social services advocacy, transportation, and organic foods. We provide these services in English, Spanish, Cantonese, and Mandarin. CMCC seeks a temporary, part-time Client Advocate/Asian Program Coordinator fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin and English to join our friendly Oakland office in this unique and rewarding work. This is a 32-hour per week position and reports directly to the Clinical Care Manager. While the majority of this time will be spent in our main Oakland clinic, some hours will be spent in our San Francisco location. The Client Advocate/Asian Program Coordinator will perform scheduling for clients; coordinate clinic shifts during clinical hours on Fridays and Sundays; and in general act as an advocate for our clients to obtain appropriate services within the scope of the clinic. As Client Advocate, they will provide oversight of all daily operations as well as interact with clients and manage clinic operations and inventory. The Client Advocate will work closely with the other Client Advocates as well as the Clinical Care Manager. The Asian Program Coordinator aspect of this position includes having Cantonese and Mandarin fluency to provide greater access to our services for monolingual Chinese-speaking clients. This person will perform some outreach to the Asian community and those healthcare providers who offer services to the Asian community as time permits. This person will also perform intakes and orientations to the clinic for prospective clients in Cantonese and Mandarin on behalf of our Social Services Resources department, and report to the Social Services Manager for this purpose. Clinic Operations Act as Shift Coordinator on Fridays and Sundays as assigned by the Clinical Care Manager, and perform administrative tasks as needed on the shifts to make them run smoothly. Physically set up rooms, assign rooms to practitioners, pull charts, file charts, set up food donations and snacks and clean up after the shift. Act as the liaison for food donations that come to the clinic for the weekend shifts and call to cancel the donations when the clinic is going to be closed.

Provide Cantonese and Mandarin language interpretation for clients, volunteers and staff during shift as needed. Schedule clients for appointments. Troubleshoot any and all last minute cancellations and transportation problems. Regularly make sure all rooms are standardized with the supplies needed for weekend shifts. Make sure the pharmacy is clean and that all the herbs and supplements that have come in are put away. Conduct case management/check-in sessions with volunteers at the close of each clinic shift. Perform shopping as required to maintain clinic food. Assign support staff projects to do on the weekends. Coordinate the refilling of supplements and herbal formulas when the clients practitioner is not available, noting in the shift notes. Provide inventory support to the Clinical Care Manager.

Client Advocacy/Asian Community Liaison Perform data entry, e.g. update client contact, demographic, and health status information. Perform intakes and orientations to prospective clients in Cantonese and Mandarin on behalf of and in collaboration with the Social Services Resources department. Provide reports on intakes and orientations for prospective clients to the Social Services Resources Manager. Help clients navigate through the clinic, educating them about our healthcare modalities and other services, and consulting with them to help them choose those modalities that will best serve their needs at the time. Communicate with volunteer practitioners, substitute shift coordinators, other Client Services Advocates and the Clinical Care Manager about any special client medical needs. Act as liaison for the CMCC monolingual Chinese-speaking community of clients to optimize delivery of complementary care: schedule appointments, provide interpretation during visits, and support case management efforts as determined appropriate by the Clinical Care Manager or the Medical Director. Collaboration Attend monthly case management meetings to review client medical issues, scheduling and modality choices. Attend bi-weekly staff and client services department meetings. Meet bi-weekly with Clinical Care Manager. Act as liaison between clients/practitioners/and shift-coordinators to facilitate communications about client needs and their experience here overall. Work directly with clients in regards to concerns about scheduling. Report to Clinical Care Manager and follow up as needed with the client. Work in conjunction with Client Services and Social Services staff to foster a supportive environment for the clients.

Work as a liaison between the clients and Clinical Care Manager and Medical Director when necessary. Work in conjunction with Volunteer Services staff to foster a supportive environment for the volunteers.

Outreach/Interpretation/Advocacy (as time permits) Conduct outreach in the Asian community and with community partners. Develop a schedule of direct outreach and communication with other agencies and organizations serving the Asian cancer community. Participate in organizational outreach when deemed appropriate by Clinical Care Manager and/or Medical Director and/or Executive Director. Translate documents, flyers and CMCC event materials. Provide interpretation support at CMCC events Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Speak, read and write fluently in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Clinic coordination experience/aptitude. Must be available to work weekends. Must have access to insured, reliable vehicle with a clean driving record and ability to work both sides of the Bay. Familiarity with and commitment to CMCCs philosophy and mission regarding women with cancer. Commitment to working as a team-player in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in interpersonal, group, and public settings, both in person and on the telephone. Computer proficiency in MS Office products, e-mail & database entry. Familiarity with alternative medicine. Warm, compassionate, caring demeanor.
