Project Coordinator

TPSE Relay (East Kent) Freelance contract Based at Stour Valley Arts, Ashford, Kent Contract: 30 days (approx 2 days May, 6 days June, 8 days July, 14 days Aug 2012) Fee: 4,500 Introduction The role will be to co-ordinate the preparation, production and performances of a new site specific dance performance Marks, Measures, Maps and Mind by Dog Kennel Hill Project (DKHP) at the unique woodland exhibition space at Stour Valley Arts. The purpose of the role is to support Stour Valley Arts, South East Dance, Turner Contemporary and DKHP to ensure a successful community engagement project and well attended performance events over August bank holiday 2012. Context This project forms part of the wider TPSE RELAY project for East Kent which consists of 2 new commissions for 2012 Cultural Olympiad: a site-specific Choreography Commission by Dog kennel Hill Project (DKHP) at Stour Valley Arts and a Visual Arts Commission by John Smith at Turner Contemporary. This project was developed to: - Deliver 2 commissions which explore movement of the body in space - Work across art form (visual arts and contemporary dance) and across the county of Kent to share knowledge, increase opportunities for artists and participants, and to mobilize audiences. - Reflect the values and ambitions of the Cultural Olympiad. Job Role Steering group To update the project steering group of key developments and contribute relevant data for steering group meetings . Project management To support the recruitment of 40 people from sporting groups

To work with DKHP to co-ordinate the taster weekend, rehearsal weekends and the 5 day intensive rehearsals in advance of the performance. To lead on liaison with the sporting groups. To work with DKHP to co-ordinate requirements for the performance, to include liaison with technical manager, participants and other contracted persons to host a performance in a woodland environment To be present for taster weekends, all rehearsals and performance dates and available to trouble shoot and problem solve with enthusiasm. To manage the production budget for the performances and provide regular budget updates To ensure the project runs to schedule to enable successful delivery To ensure that a clear monitoring and evaluation plan is developed and implemented including an exit strategy. To work within Stour Valley Arts regulatory, policy, systems and procedural framework at all times. To support the Creative Apprentices, providing schedule and information to facilitate a positive development experience.

Communications To work in partnership with project partners (Turner Contemporary, Stour Valley Arts and South East Dance) to support an appropriate media and communications campaign. To liaise with Turner Contemporary regarding regional marketing alignment with TPSE Relay Person specification Knowledge and skills Strong project and event management skills (outdoor events preferable). Knowledge of production requirements Good knowledge of office systems and a range of IT applications. Experience of managing budgets. Strong written communication skills. Experience of marketing and PR campaigns including social networking An awareness of requirements for site specific dance performance Ability to monitor and capture data to demonstrate the impact of the project A good understanding of the current diversity agenda and its relationship to the arts.
