When it all started he was one 15 years old. He and others where being moved to a different concentration camp. One kid father had a piece of bread and he killed his dad so he could get some food. This statement means people where starving and would do whatever to get some. This really supports the serious and violent tone Elis is going through and creates a violent mood. During another part Elie talk about how he feels while he is in the camps. At this point, he feels Deep inside me, I felt a great void opening (p.65 Elie). This means he feels very bad about what he is going through.
