Assessment: During the discussions I will use the thumbs up thumbs down assessment. I will point to states and ask, If this is a state give me a thumbs up if it is a city gives me a thumbs down. I will reverse this question when I point to a city. This assessment follows the standard used to create this lesson. Reflection: What skills do students need in order to be successful with this lesson? They will need to be able to use an encyclopedia or the internet. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I will have students create a simple map of their city using the street names and pictures they found during their research.
