GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Indicate your qualifying examination passed, year of passing, register number, number of appearances
and the marks obtained in the qualifying examinations. Photocopies of the mark sheet should be enclosed.

Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances after the commencement of classes.
The candidate should pay the entire programme fee minus whatever has been already paid, if he/she
discontinues the programme any time after its commencement.

5.

SASTRA reserves its right not to conduct a programme, if the response to that particular programme
is not sufficient.

6.

SASTRA wishes that there be no dispute on any account. However, if there is any dispute the jurisdiction
will be Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu and only through appropriate Forum. No third party intervention will be
entertained under any circumstances.

7.

Ragging is a cognizable offence and any form of ragging either inside or outside the campus is totally
prohibited. Indulging in ragging will result in expulsion from the University and/or imprisonment up to
three years and/or fine up to Rs.25,000/-.

8.

Last date for submission of completed application form for all B.Tech. programmes is June 9, 2012,
(6.00 p.m.) Applicants are advised to see the website for the rank list and counselling dates which will
be available from 9.00 p.m. on 9.06.2012.

Eligibility for B.Tech. / Integrated M.Tech. programmes:

A pass in the +2 examination with Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry
/ Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology and recognized by any State Board / Central Board or
any other accepted by SASTRA as equivalent to 10+2 examination, with a minimum aggregate of 60%
marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Biology obtained
in a single sitting

Students with diploma in Engineering / Technology are eligible for direct admission to the second year of
the relevant B.Tech. Programme

The candidate should not have completed 19 years as on 1.7.2012. (21 years for Lateral Entry)

Admission Procedure:
Admissions to 70% of the seats will be based on the normalized +2 aggregate marks and remaining 30%
based on AIEEE 2012 rank.
Normalisation Stream:
Admissions to the I year B.Tech. Programme will be based on the marks secured in the +2 qualifying
examination following the normalization process. To bring all candidates from different examining
Authorities / Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2
aggregate marks will be normalized. A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained
100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board are normalized with reference to that
of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicants aggregate is 90% then
the applicants normalized percentage is 92.78 (90/97 x 100). A merit list is drawn based on the normalized
percentage for making admissions for the 70% of the total seats.

Out of the total seats, 70% of the seats will be filled in the following method. (i) 20% (10%+10%) of
intake will be offered to students from Trichy and Thanjavur Districts, provided the applicant has completed
both X and XII from any school located in Trichy or Thanjavur District; (ii) 50% of the intake will be
offered to those who complete X and XII standards in schools within Tamil Nadu (Puducherry included);
(iii) The remaining 30% will be for students who have completed X and XII outside Tamil Nadu.
AIEEE Stream:

The remaining 30% will be alloted by SASTRA based on ranks secured in AIEEE 2012. A separate
admission procedure will be intimated to the students and interested students have to apply online to be
considered under the AIEEE quota. This application form is only for the normalisation stream.
M.Tech ( 5 Years integrated) programme:

The 5-year integrated M.Tech. programme runs concurrently with B.Tech. programme (in paranthesis)
till the seventh semester, after which the student completes PG level courses in 8th & 9th semesters and
project work during the 10th semester. After successful completion the student will receive the relevant
B.Tech. degree along with the M.Tech. degree.
