ABOUT THE COLLEGE

On 11th August, 1947, V.H.N.Senthikumara Nadars College was brought into being. To run the new institution, a managing Board was formed with Thiru W.P.A.Soundrapandian as president, Thiru P.S.Chidambaram as Vice President, Thiru V.V. Ramasamy as Secretary and correspondent and Thiru M.S. Periasamy as Treasurer.

The successive Managing Boards of this college comprised energetic and enthusiastic men who were successful business magnates in their respective enterprises. They nurtured the nascent institution. Under their benevolent patronage, the college registered an astounding progress, blossoming into a Post- Graduate institution in 1967. To-day, after 63 years of its inception, VHNSN College has grown from strength to strength, scaling new heights and crossing many a milestone on the academic road.

The college which began its life is thatched tenements with a hundred students, and eleven teachers has grown into a premier institution at a rapid pace with spacious grounds of 150 acres and magnificent buildings with more than 190 teachers and 3,110 students. The college offers 17 degree courses at the under graduate level and 18 degree courses at the post graduate level. It is also a recognized institute for carrying out research work leading to M.Phil PhD degrees in several disciplines. Apart from these regular academic programmes, the college offers Diploma and certificate courses as additional courses. The college is an autonomous institution, and reaccredited with A Grade by NAAC.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The MBA Programme was launched in the year 1995 with the approval of AICTE, New Delhi, and is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. Every batch has produced university ranks, and the students are well placed in leading corporates.

The Department of Management Studies is committed to excellence and maintains consistently high academic standard. The students are given a depth exposure to all management areas, and close liason with renowned business houses. The course is geared to educate in the theory and practice of management, demanding active participation of both the teachers and the taught. The MBA Programme is rated A by Business India, B school Survey 2010, and is rated A4 by All India Management Association Sponsored Business Standard B School Survey 2010.

Above all, our MBA Programme has been greatly appreciated and supported AICTE, New Delhi- for instance, the AICTE awarded the emeritus fellowship (for a period of 3 years; i.e, 2007-08 to 2010-11) to Dr.R.Neelamegam, Professor & Advisor; the department got AICTES Seminar Grant for a national level seminar in July 2010, and currently has obtained financial assistance for conducting the much coveted Staff Development Programme for a week during April, 2012.
