ORDER OF WORSHIP

Hymn of Praise & Unison Scriptures

WE WONT LEAVE HERE LIKE WE CAME
We wont leave here like we came, In Jesus Name. Bound, oppressed, Aicted, sick or lame; For the spirit Of the Lord is s ll the same, We wont leave here like we came, In Jesus Name. 7:30 A.M.
GENESIS 28:18-22; GENESIS 35:1-3 (NRSV) So Jacob rose early in the morning, and he took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it. 19He called that place Bethel; but the name of the city was Luz at the rst. 20Then Jacob made a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, 21so that I come again to my fathers house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God, 22and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be Gods house; and of all that you give me I will surely give one-tenth to you. God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and se le there. Make an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you ed from your brother Esau. 2So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, Put away the foreign gods that are among you, and purify yourselves, and change your clothes; 3then come, let us go up to Bethel, that I may make an altar there to the God who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me wherever I have gone.

GENESIS 28:18-22; GENESIS 35:1-3 (THE MESSAGE) Jacob was up rst thing in the morning. He took the stone he had used for his pillow and stood it up as a memorial pillar and poured oil over it. He christened the place Bethel (God's House). The name of the town had been Luz un l then.
18-19

6:00 P .M.
GENESIS 28:18-22; GENESIS 35:1-3 (CEV) When Jacob got up early the next morning, he took the rock that he had used for a pillow and stood it up for a place of worship. Then he poured olive oil on the rock to dedicate it to God, 19and he named the place Bethel. Before that it had been named Luz. 20Jacob solemnly promised God, If you go with me and watch over me as I travel, and if you give me food and clothes 21 and bring me safely home again, you will be my God. 22 This rock will be your house, and I will give back to you a tenth of everything you give me.
1 18

God told Jacob, Return to Bethel, where I appeared to you when you were running from your brother Esau. Make your home there and build an altar for me. 2 Jacob said to his family and to everyone else who was traveling with him: Get rid of your foreign gods! Then 1 God spoke to Jacob: "Go back to Bethel. Stay there make yourselves acceptable to worship God and put and build an altar to the God who revealed himself on clean clothes. 3A erwards, well go to Bethel. I will to you when you were running for your life from your build an altar there for God, who answered my prayers brother Esau." 2-3Jacob told his family and all those who when I was in trouble and who has always been at my lived with him, "Throw out all the alien gods which you side. have, take a good bath and put on clean clothes, we're going to Bethel. I'm going to build an altar there to the God who answered me when I was in trouble and has stuck with me everywhere I've gone since."

UNISON SCRIPTURES

Jacob vowed a vow: "If God stands by me and protects me on this journey on which I'm se ng out, keeps me in food and clothing, and brings me back in one piece to my father's house, this GOD will be my God. This stone that I have set up as a memorial pillar will mark this as a place where God lives. And everything you give me, I'll return a tenth to you."

Litany
Earth Day Litany
Minister: Father God of all crea on, we come to You on this Earth Day, taking a stand against the exploita on of Your earth, and confessing that we have not done enough to protect and preserve for future genera ons those things that we all share: Your air, water, and land. Lord, forgive us for our careless waste and pollu ng ways. Father God of all crea on, we confess that we o en forget that the earth is the LORDs, and everything in it; the world, and all who live in it. Lord, forgive us for our careless waste and pollu ng ways. Father God, we pray for the community of living creatures. Guide us in our works and ways, that every being may praise with its life and serve You all of its days. Lord, forgive us for our careless waste and pollu ng ways. Father God, repeatedly, we seek what is good and do what is bad. We stand in the rubble of many bad choices. We have been forge ul and willful tenants since You rst put us on this Earth. Lord, we join with the earth and with each other to bring new life to the land; to restore the water; to refresh the air; to renew the forests; to care for the plants; to protect the creatures; to celebrate the seas; to rejoice in the sunlight; to recreate the human community; to promote jus ce and peace; to remember our children. We join together as many and diverse expressions of one loving mystery: for the healing of the earth and the renewal of all life.

A Word from the Pastor

Family,
Last Sunday, we passed out a bulle n supplement encouraging you to support the Na onal CallIn Day to Say No to Prison Priva za on. As well, we called for support of this important advocacy eort in our weekly eNewsle er, and on the day of the Call-In, April 18, we reminded everyone through our social media outlets (Facebook and Twi er). For those of you who took the me to contact Governor Pat Quinns oce, thank you! While it may not seem like much, it can be cri cally important for our elected ocials to see that there are many of their cons tuents paying a en on.
A WORD FROM THE PASTOR

We are in a ght for our lives, our future, and the future of our children. As Professor Michelle Alexander so clearly points out in her book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarcera on in the Age of Color Blindness, there are structures and systems in place to grow the prison popula ons in America. That growth is of mostly black and brown people. Prisons have become jobs programs for rural communi es, and, adding insult to injury, there is a growing move to priva ze those prisons . . . adding a prot mo ve to our misery. The Call-In, called for by the Samuel DeWi Proctor Conference, in partnership with the United Methodist Church, was a response to the Correc ons Corpora on of Americas brazen a empt to purchase exis ng prisons as they sent out proposals to governors in 48 states. Their one key condi on is that prisons under their control maintain 90% occupancy for at least 20 years, to assure a return on their investment. Please remain prayerful that our governor and governors around the country reject this demonic proposal; please remain vigilant, as corporate greed seeks new avenues to prot with no ethical considera ons. Asking you to imaginea world where prisons are no longer needed,

Ephesians 1:11-12 and 4:1-2 (The Message)

Friday, April 27, 2012

7:00 p.m. - Sanctuary
Speaker: Rev. Dr. Steven Eugene Carter
Senior Pastor, Mount Ararat Baptist Church Brooklyn, New York

Its in Christ that we nd out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we rst heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone. In light of all this, heres what I want you to do. While Im locked up here, a prisoner for the Master, I want you to get out there and walk better yet, run! on the road God called you to travel. I dont want any of you sitting around on your hands. I dont want anyone strolling o, down some path that goes nowhere.

2012 Trinity UCC Theme Walking, Talking and Living Our Faith, Ephesians 4 (NLT)
January Ephesians 4:1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. February Ephesians 4:2 Always be humble and gentle. Be pa ent with each other, making allowance for each others faults because of your love. March Ephesians 4:3 Make every eort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. April Ephesians 4:4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. May Ephesians 4:5-6 There is one Lord, one faith, one bap sm, and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all. June Ephesians 4:7 However, he has given each one of us a special gi through the generosity of Christ. July Ephesians 4:11 Now these are the gi s Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. August Ephesians 4:12 Their responsibility is to equip Gods people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. September Ephesians 4:13 This will con nue un l we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of Gods Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. October Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We wont be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be inuenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. November Ephesians 4:15-16 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body t together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. December Ephesians 31-32 Get rid of all bi erness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
