HK Electric is committed to providing our customers with excellent services and a reliable and quality electricity supply. One of our missions is to help our customers and electrical contractors to prepare their electrical installations for receiving our electricity supply. It is with such objective that the Guide to Connection of Supply (GCS) is published. The GCS has come into its fifth edition and it consolidates the changes as a result of the mandatory implementation of the Code of Practice for the Electricity (Wiring) Regulations with effect from 31 March 2011 and the introduction of 22kV supply voltage. The GCS also elaborates the latest interface requirements and our new services. The first three chapters of the GCS explain the procedures of the application for electricity supply in detail and provide a concise and clear flow of various types of electricity applications. Chapters 4 to 7 disseminate the interface requirements between a customers installation and our installation such as protection requirements, metering requirements, new cable colour code, etc. Chapter 9 focuses on busduct work. To help our customers and electrical contractors to understand more about the power quality issues, we have therefore enriched the contents of Chapter 10, How to Enhance the Reliability & Power Quality of Electricity Supply, to reinforce the materials regarding the causes and mitigation measures for power quality issues for their reference. Apart from technical information, Chapter 8 also introduces our latest services such as Enterprise Advisor Service, Account Monitoring Service, SMS Notification Service, services for small and medium enterprises and advisory service on smart use of electricity etc. To make the GCS more interesting and easy to apprehend, extensive use of flow-charts and drawings is made in the presentation of its contents. However, it is necessary to note that the GCS is for reference only and does not replace any of the existing rules and regulations. The GCS may have to be updated as and when new methods or new installation techniques emerge.
