Purpose
This document includes important, late-breaking installation and configuration information about this release of Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System products. Note: See the individual product Readmes for other late-breaking product information. Review this information thoroughly before installing. It is our goal to make Oracle products, services, and supporting documentation accessible to the disabled community. Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System supports accessibility features, which are described in Appendix H of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. New Features
EPM System Installer now installs these items: o o WebLogic Server (replaces Apache Tomcat as the embedded Java container) Oracle HTTP Server (replaces Apache Web server as the embedded Web server)

Most EPM System products have adopted Oracle Diagnostic Logging (ODL) as the logging mechanism. The ODL framework provides uniform support for managing log files, including log file rotation, maximum log file size, and the maximum log directory size. For more information, see the Using EPM System Logs chapter of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Troubleshooting Guide. Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) integrates with My Oracle Support and provides configuration information for Oracle software. It assists in the troubleshooting, maintenance, and diagnostics of your EPM System deployment. For more information about Oracle Configuration Manager, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. This release allows the system administrator to reconfigure logical references to existing, deployed Web applications without redeploying them. With this release, many EPM System products support host names that resolve to IPv6 addresses. See the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Certification Matrix. IPv4 support (both host name and IP address) remains unchanged from earlier releases. EPM supports the following types of SSL configuration: o o o o Full SSL Deployment (including data access) SSL Terminating at the Web Server SSL Accelerators (off-loading) Two-way SSL

EPM System Configurator now requires the Shared Services admin password to be changed during system configuration. Once deployed, subsequent password changes are done through Shared Services. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. Essbase now supports active-passive failover without Oracle Clusterware. You can use EPM System Configurator to configure Essbase in an active-passive failover configuration with write-back capability. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide and the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System High Availability Guide. Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) Client Installers are now provided for Essbase Excel Add-in and Disclosure Management. Essbase Server supports Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN) Integration. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.

New Products
EPM System releases the following new products: Oracle Hyperion Financial Close Management-Helps companies define, execute, and report on the interdependent activities of a financial close period. It provides centralized monitoring of all close pg. 2

process tasks and provides a visible, automated, repeatable system of record for running close processes. Oracle Hyperion Disclosure Management-Allows you to assemble a reporting package for submission to a regulatory agency that includes financial statements, as well as supporting schedules and commentary which may exist in Excel, Word, or a Financial Reporting document. General Installation Information


This section includes important information about installing this release of EPM System products. See the remaining sections for product-specific installation information. This release is intended for new deployments only. Upgrading or migrating from previous EPM System releases is not supported. In addition, products from this release are not compatible with products and applications from previous releases. The manual deployment of Web applications is greatly simplified, using WebLogics Config Assistant. Instructions are now provided in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide; there is no longer a separate manual deployment guide. Relational Database as Native Directory-Replaces OpenLDAP as the central storage for native EPM System user accounts and provisioning information. Unlike previous releases, this release supports using only a relational database as Native Directory. Native Directory is created in the database that you configure as the Shared Services database while deploying EPM System components. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Security Administration Guide. By default, for most products, EPM System Installer installs 32bit products on 32bit operating systems and 64bit products on 64bit operating systems for the Web and Services tiers.

EPM System Installer installs 32bit client products on all operating systems. For Essbase Server and Essbase Client, EPM System Installer installs both 32-bit and 64-bit components on a 64-bit operating system. EPM System Configurator configures only 64-bit components on 64-bit operating systems. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. If you are using Oracle database 10.2.0.4+, you must use Oracle database client 10.2.0.2.21+. See the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. The EPM System directory structure has changed. The default directories are now Middleware Home and EPM Oracle Home: pg. 3

A Middleware home consists of the Oracle WebLogic Server home, and, optionally, one or more Oracle homes, including EPM Oracle home. A Middleware home can reside on a local file system or on a remote shared disk that is accessible through Network file system (NFS). The Middleware home location is defined during the first product installation on the computer. Subsequent installations on the computer use the previously defined location. The default installation directory is . The Middleware home location is referred to as throughout this document. o An Oracle home contains installed files necessary to host a specific product, and resides within the directory structure of the Middleware home. The EPM Oracle home contains files for EPM System products. Components of EPM System products are installed in the EPM Oracle home directory under the Middleware home. The default EPM Oracle home location is . In addition, common internal components used by the products are installed in EPM Oracle home. The EPM Oracle home location is defined in the system environment variable called EPM_ORACLE_HOME. The EPM Oracle home location is referred to as throughout this document. See the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. o EPM Workspace provides a consistent and interactive thin-client environment for working with EPM content. EPM Workspace is the Web client for the following products: o Reporting and Analysis o Planning o Profitability and Cost Management o Financial Management o EPM Architect o Performance Scorecard o Calculation Manager In addition, Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher and Oracle BI EE can be configured to integrate with EPM Workspace. The new Foundation Services Web application consolidates to one JVM and includes these Web applications: Shared Services and EPM Workspace. The Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide states that you can use an underscore during installation and configuration. However, using an underscore(_) in Shared Services Web application server machine name or in host names in EPM System Installer and EPM System Configurator is not supported. Using underscores in host names may cause errors when starting or connecting to services running on the improperly named hosts. The documentation will be updated to reflect this limitation. When you run EPM System Configurator for Planning and then Strategic Finance, the Planning options are displayed when you select Strategic Finance to configure. Workaround: Restart EPM System Configurator and proceed with the configuration. After you run EPM System Configurator successfully for several products, when you rerun EPM System Configurator again, the status check boxes of the configured parent products are still selected. Workaround: If parent products are selected for configuration and the subtasks pg. 5

EPM System Configurator fails when the WebLogic domain is created outside EPM System Configurator and EPM System Configurator is running on the same machine as the WebLogic Admin Server machine for the domain. Workaround: If you are deploying to an existing WebLogic domain and the domain WebLogic Admin Server is running on the same machine, shut down the WebLogic Admin Server before configuring EPM System products. If a product (for example, SOA) requires the WebLogic Admin Server to be running, run the EPM System Configurator a second time. On the EPM System Installer summary window, clicking the Configure button does not start EPM System Configurator. Workaround: From the Start menu, select Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Foundation Services, and then EPM System Configurator Repeating full installations on a system without proper cleanup between them can cause the system PATH to overflow (maximum length of 1024 characters), overriding the earliest entries in the variable. Workaround: After any uninstallation, remove unused entries from system PATH before the next installation. Otherwise, you may have to manually remove some unused entries from system PATH and restore other entries; for example: and When you run EPM System Configurator, the SSL listen ports are predefined for all deployed Web applications and then enabled. They should be in a disabled state because EPM System Configurator does not perform automatic SSL configuration. Workaround: Configure SSL separately. For instructions on SSL configuration, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Security Administration Guide. When you run EPM System Configurator and configure Financial Management Web session timeout, you are directed to specify time in seconds. The time increment is then set in minutes, not seconds. Workaround: Set the session timeout in minutes. UNIX: When you run EPM System Configurator and leave the user name blank for the database, click Next, and then go back to reenter the user name, the Shared Services Registry tables are not created. Workaround: Exit EPM System Configurator before reentering the user name. When you run EPM System Installer, on the language selection dialog box, the default selection for the language is wrong. Workaround: Manually select the correct language. AIX: When you install EPM System as the first Oracle product on a machine, you must run , located in the extracted assembly folder as a root user to create the central inventory for Oracle products.

In a distributed environment, for an automatic or a manual deployment, the necessary files between the WebLogic Admin Server and the managed server do not synchronize. Workaround: Just after the configuration and before any server startup on the managed server box, copy from the WebLogic Admin Server machine (for example ) to the folder where is the domain defined for the deployment in the managed server home Note: If you already started the server, replace the encrypted values in of the managed server with an unencrypted user name and password and then restart the server. When you run EPM System Configurator and enable SSL listen port on the Common Settings window and deploy Shared Services, the HTTPS listen port does not populate the Shared Services server. Workaround: Use the ( on UNIX) utility to add values to the Shared Services node in the Shared Services Registry. For more information, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide. When you run EPM System Configurator and choose the database configuration option, EPM System Configurator fails if the database name has double-byte characters. Workaround: Change the database name to non-double-byte characters. EPM System Configurator displays the wrong error message during SSL support for JDBC verification. Workaround: Restart EPM System Configurator.

In EPM System Configurator, the Web server task is listed when no Web applications or Web servers are installed. Workaround: Ignore the listing because you do not have to configure the Web server on the services tier. After a configured Shared Services database is deleted and then recreated, EPM System Configurator stops when you attempt to configure the new database. Workaround: Do not delete the database in the middle of configuration. If you have already deleted the database, stop and restart EPM System Configurator. When EPM System Installer installs files, the progress bar stalls at 99% for over a half hour. Workaround: EPM System Installer appears to freeze while copying over large amounts of help files. It will complete the task, but on some slow systems, it might take an hour. Know that if you cancel the installation, help files for EPM System Uninstaller may not be available. After the IIS listen port is changed, the Web server configuration task displays the default port. Workaround: Disregard the port displayed in the Web server configuration task. Workaround: Either shut down the command line window or open the Windows Task Manager and end the Java process. EPM System Configurator does not prompt for database information if the database is not running. Workaround: Verify that your database is running before you start EPM System Configurator. On non-Windows systems, when installing in console mode, you can select to install Windows-only components and proceed, but the components are not installed because they are not supported on non-Windows platforms. Windows (64-bit): The following error message is displayed during installation and configuration: The value for the attribute is not valid: progid. Workaround: You can ignore this error message, click OK, and continue. If there is not enough free disk space for an installation, EPM System Installer displays an error message, , at the bottom of the Summary window. Workaround: Ensure that there is twice as much space as the amount shown in Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation Start Here. 64-bit: When installing in console mode, when Typical mode is selected, the screen has both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the components selected. Workaround: Select only one type (32-bit or 64-bit). When you use EPM System Configurator to reconfigure a database, the Advanced Options window is not displayed. Workaround: Use the Shared Services Registry editor to edit the database connection properties: 1. On a machine hosting the 11.1.x EPM System software, go to and run the following command: 2. Workaround: Shut down EPM System Configurator. Restart EPM System Configurator, choose the database configuration option, and enter the correct server name. For all supported databases, EPM System Configurator does not correctly process the parameter on the Advanced Options window. Workaround: Enter the name (case-sensitive) as . Linux: When you configure products in console mode, all products are not selected by default. Workaround: Manually select all products needed for configuration. If a system is not completely cleared of files, performing an overinstall causes EPM System Configurator to not show database configuration panels for all products. Workaround: If using Oracle database 10.2.0.4+, you must use Oracle database client 10.2.0.2.21+. EPM System Installer cannot install Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) on a machine having 1015 MB total physical memory. Workaround: Ensure that you have 1024 MB total physical memory. If WebLogic Server is installed outside of EPM System and folder is missing under Middleware Home (For example: Java Required Files (JRF) is not installed on the machine) the folder does not get installed with EPM System Installer. Workaround: Install Oracle HTTP Server on another system and copy the folder / over.

If EPM System Installer fails to install Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), the Oracle HTTP Server reinstall option is not available. Workaround: Review the Oracle HTTP Server and EPM System Installer log files to determine why Oracle HTTP Server failed to install. When you are using EPM products on a Turkish machine, set your Web browser language to Turkish (tr). See 9436054 in the Planning section. When you run EPM System Configurator and select the custom configuration option to configure Essbase on a cluster of the first server, the Essbase custom configuration task fails.
