My child Samia. Her date of birth is 12th July 2006, in Birdem Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Following Caesarean section. Operative delivery of Samia was done one month earlier then the expected date, due to some complications. So she was borned Low weight (1.6kg) and immature. After delivery se was not able to cry. She was kept into in emulates immediately after delivery, where she developed respiratory distress .So she was transferred to intensive care unit, was on life support for 8(eight) days. In the mean time her platelet count was very Low for which reason 15 (fifteen) units of platelet concentrate were transfused. On the other hand during the period of pregnancy I was also suffering from Diabetes & stypestension . So both of us (Samia & myself) were hospitalized for a long period of 29 (twenty nine) days. As a result a lot of money, approximately 10 (ten) Lac had been spend. A great Part of this amount is Loan from relatives and well wishers. Realization of this Loan was not possible until now because my house land is continuously spending for Spending for Samia, but his income is very poor.

Since then till today, my child is under follow up of different specialist but the condition of the child is unsatisfactory. While Samia was 5 (five) months old we (myself and my husband) noticed some doubt regarding her sight. Without delay we took her to the child eye specialist surgeon, Dr. Manaf in Birdem Hospital. The surgeon advised for cataract operation. Operation alone accordingly by him & his team. During discharge pair of 20 (twenty) power eye glasses along with other medicines were prescribed. The child was under continuous follow up of the eye specialist but all our hope remained in vain that our Samia has now become a blind. She can not see the beauty of this beautiful world. Samias physical growth delays. At the age of one year she develop convulsion along with feuds ,was hospitalized hurriedly and treated. Since than very often she develop convulsion and respiratory distress with a compulsion to hospital admission. As a result we (parents) always remain in tension regarding the sudden hospitalisah or Samia. She is under regular follow up of Eye specialist , child specialist, child neurologist and speech therapist. All of them have advised to go abroad for improved treatment.

But our financial condition is so poor to spend more for the child. Even than we (parents) cannot allow our bellowed child to remain handicapped and to die unwanted . Now , at present Samia is 5(five) years old .But she can see nothing. Her sight has been lost. She cannot speak . she cannot walk so she cannot play like other children. She remains either in bed or is wheel chair. According to the medical advice Samias follow up should be as follows, Regular & continuous follow up by: 1. Child specialist (medicine) 2. Child neurologist. 3. Child eye specialist. 4. Speech therapist 5. 3-4 day in a week in the CRP centre. 6. To give physiotherapy daily 3-4 times in home by experience person. 7. Proper nursing with trained person.

But to maintain this schedule a lot is spending monthly for Samia which has become hardly possible for us. So we are very much worried with the future of our handicapped child. So we the parents of Samia request all generous first to extend their helping hand for this treatment of handicapped child.

Thanks Mrs Hasina
