Keynote: Dr. Peggy Maki, Using Assessment for Teaching and Learning Dr. Peggy Maki is an international voice on Assessing Learning in Higher Education. She has conducted over 250 workshops on assessment both in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. Maki specializes in assisting institutions integrate assessment of student learning into educational practices, processes and structures. Her work also focuses on assessment within the context of accreditors' expectations for institutional effectiveness. She has recently been named to the Board of Contributors of About Campus, appointed to the Advisory Board of the Wabash Center for Critical Inquiry, appointed Assessment Field Editor for Stylus Publishing, and Department Editor of Assessment for About Campus, beginning Fall, 2004. Her most recent book is entitled Assessing for Learning: Building a Sustainable Commitment across the Institution" (Stylus, 2010). Session_1 and 2: 10:10-12:15 (2 hour session) Academic Majors Fitzpatrick Room Faculty will have the opportunity to work with their colleagues and Dr. Maki to connect results of their program assessment results to the enhancement of teaching and learning during this two hour session.

Science and Technology Core Murdock 202 Science and Technology domain faculty will be able to take this time for their end of semester review of their assessment results, and with Dr. Makis guidance, develop strategies to use them for the enhancement of teaching and learning. Films on Demand Murdock 213 Learn how to search through Films on Demands over 8,000 documentary films and 90,000 video clips and show them in the classroom. Create playlists for each course and post them in Canvas so students can view them 24/7.

Human Heritage Core Murdock 302 Human Heritage domain faculty will be able to take this time for their biannual review of their assessment results, and with Dr. Makis guidance, develop strategies to use them for the enhancement of teaching and learning. Come and take a tour of some of high value no cost online resources that can truly enhance your teaching and student learning.

Canvas Talkback: The First Wave Murdock 209 Get beyond the hype! This session is designed to encourage a frank discussion among faculty who have been using Canvas this academic year. Including both early adopters and more recent users, power-users and novices, the all-faculty panel will lead a conversation sharing what its really like to use Canvas at MCLA. Films on Demand Murdock 213 Learn how to search through Films on Demands over 8,000 documentary films and 90,000 video clips and show them in the classroom. Create playlists for each course and

What is New with ePortfolios? Murdock 209 MCLA has had ePortfolios for four years, with limited use. This year, however, there have been some fascinating signs of life around campus for the software platform. Find out what new initiatives are underway to use ePortfolios, and what role they will play in the Core Curriculum and beyond over the next couple of years.
