Our mission is to utilize a multi-disciplinary program of film, music, art, workshops, an eco-fair and eco-tours to connect participants with green initiatives in business, government and organizations seeking to solve environmental problems. Our vision is to expand the reach of environmental information to inspire, educate and engage participants in sustainable business and lifestyle solutions.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL Our festival drew 3,000 participants in its first year with 18 screenings of a dozen films at a local arts theater, including feature-length environmental films, documentaries and a few locally produced but nationally distributed films. We also created an hour-long compilation of short films on environmental issues. As a multi-disciplinary festival, we engaged local government, sustainable businesses, environmental organizations and the public with parties, an eco-art show, eco-tours and an eco-fair.

We opened the festival with a VIP Reception, and held educational panels following selected films; discussions with film makers; a local foods pot luck and a water tasting contest; an eco-gallery plus cooperative art presentations at several local art galleries; a day-long Eco Fair with sustainable business and organizational booths, musical performances and a free outdoor film; ecotours led by local guides showcased the natural resources and green homes of the area.

The 2011 Festival expanded by doubling the number of films and screenings; adding multiple local venues for screenings; adding workshops on green film making, environmental issues and sustainable business; coordinating with local schools and organizations to engage diverse segments of the community; bringing in national speakers; and by expanding our Eco-Fair. We included film competitions including audience awards in various categories plus high-school and college competitions to produce shorts and PSAs about environmental issues and the organizations working toward solutions. With a year to plan, we are seeking grant funds and major sponsorships to help create a full festival for our region. We anticipate reaching upwards of 5,000 attendees in 2012.

We received a tremendous amount of community support and an amazing array of publicity in our first two years. Get in on the ground floor and come grow with us in 2012!
