ABSTRACT: The goal of the visualization is to identify and analyze the urban patterns that attest to the exclusivity

of certain neighborhoods in mexico city. We would like to compare two neighborhoods in mexico city with active nightlife centers - one affluent and the other less so - in order to predict the next upcoming nightlife center. Polanco, a central area within the Hidalgo Colonia, and Cuauhctemoc have a highly active nightlife center. One that is encouraged by the official and commercial tourist information centers, directing large amounts of tourists as well as locals towards its many night time establishments. The bars, restaurants and clubs attract a significant high-income crowd, and in turn, this crowd contributes to the image of exclusivity projected from the neighborhoods. Analyzing and characterizing the cell phone data patterns of these affluent neighborhoods will allow us to find similar patterns in other areas in the city, and therefore to identify the next up and coming neighborhood in mexico city. PLAN: We will characterize the call patterns in Polanco and Cuauhctemoc (the affluent neighborhoods) during the hours designated to lunch (2-5pm) and the usual nightlife hours (9pm-2am) over the weekend, and compare the volume of calls between these neighborhoods and Benito Juarez in order to find similar patterns. GROUP MEMBERS: Kevin R. Cervantes Maya Porath The collection of information will be evenly split between the members of the group. This includes mining call data from Polanco and Cuauhctemoc. We will also split the color and layout responsibilities. -Collaborative exploration of Processing.
