The awareness of the problem varied according to the persons degree of awareness. The Science teacher was fully aware of the problem so only a bit of discussion was needed with her. For the persons that were not aware on only a few topics, I only talked about those particular topics with them. I decided to show them the graphic documentary, The Age of Stupid (translating whenever required), and then had an in depth discussion from the start, about what is global warming and how it can relate to their lives.
REACTION
The reaction was good from all the persons, with many going home thinking about the problem and how they could contribute to removing this menace from the face of Earth.
ALTERNATE RESOURCE
There was a lot of discussion on this topic as everybody wanted to do their bit for the environment that was feasible within the limits of their daily lives. Some examples were using gas geezers instead of electric geezers, incorporating some solar panels within homes, reusing dirty water used for washing clothes to wash the courtyard again, preventing wastage of gas while cooking, energy efficient machines etc.
OFFICIAL CONTRIBUTION
With the help of the member of RWA, we campaigned towards using energy got from solar panels to power on street lights and switching off the street lights during day time. We also asked the RWA to help in prevention of wastage of water during watering of plants in all parks.
