1. Research Brief Each and every state in India has its own musical forms.

Especially Kerala is known for a number of music forms and there is a wide acceptance for these in India as well as abroad. What if these widely accepted music forms of Kerala are taught at one place? This study is about the potential of starting a college of music under Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the research problem is to determine whether there is potential to start a music college in Amritapuri. The study in deep will help us to identify the factors that generate the need for a music college and also the benefits from starting a college of music. Scope & objective Scope(Benefits) o Providing an opportunity those who wish to study music. o To mould that career into a profession. o Gives another way to spirituality. o Act as a medicine for stress mgt o More focus to Arts and culture activities o Through that we may contribute something to arts fests. o Diversification of education.

Objective To understand whether there is any potential to start a music college in Amritapuri. A. Gathering and summarising secondary data From the secondary analysis we understood that the prevailing music colleges in Kerala were started due to the interests and rising demand of students who wished to learn music and start a career in music. Now those colleges are providing a number of music courses to students on the basis of their need and wish. We also understood that all tutorials sections and training was given by experts in music field. We found out that these schools are giving oppurtunities to participate for various events and fests to prove their talent. Last but not the least we also understood that the students who passed out after completing the course are having huge career oppurtunities like in films, reality shows, albums etc. B. Exploratory discussions with experts other than mentor From the discussions with the operations faculty Mr.Abhijath, we understood that music colleges in Kerala lacks enough facilities and infrastructure to provide courses on sound engineering, Hindustani music in which if one wish to learn those courses they have to seek admission in colleges located in the northern parts of India.

C. Group deliberations Starting a music college in South Kerala is very essential because only three colleges are there in the state. It is an opportunity for the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham to diversify its functions from academic to music. So those who are aware about Amrita institutions will have an urge to join the institution due to brand value of Amrita. Everyone is interested in Music, but due to the lack of opportunities and scope many of them dont prefer music as a career. So if Amrita launches a new college of music, It is a a huge opportunities for those people who are interested in taking music as a career. By launching a Music college, the result is employment oppurtunities. Other opportunities reality shows, gulf programs etc. D. Definition of the problem I. Market research problem What are the factors that support the launch of a college of music under Amrita Vishwa Vidyaapeetham? a) Broad informational problem By determing the demand and interest the interest we can give better music education than any others to prospective students. b) Major components of study Gain knowledge about the present top rated Music colleges. To determine their interests over a music school Study about other possible factor that influences the interests or need of a person to join a music college.

The qualitative research Survey method: A questionnaire will be circulated among the targeted groups inorder to find the potential and also the need of starting a music college. Content analysis: A sample is selected from students, faculty and industry experts. The specific questions we would like to ask the groups : 1. What do you think about a Music college? 2. How do prefer to learn in Amrita School of Music? c. The descriptive research Research Question (RQ) and Hypothesis: Is there any need of starting a music college in Amritapuri? Hypothesis: There is potential to launch a music college in Amritapuri under Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham . Method(s) used: Collection and analysis of secondary data and conduct a survey among the target groups by a questionnaire.
