Job Summary
Employee conducts regular patrols and inspections of buildings and facilities to identify and report damage and potential security risks. Employee also makes sure the activities of University students within the area. Work involves monitoring people who visit the campus, checking student ID cards in order to prevent outsiders. Work also involves ensuring that buildings are secure.

Reporting Relationships
Employee reports to the Supervisor.

Work Environment and Special Conditions

East West University, Mohakhali Campus, delivers first class higher education to its students. It is also considered as one of the best private universities of Bangladesh. Sleeping & smoking are prohibited in university during working hours. This position may require the duty to undertake lifting, work across campuses or after hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Patrol campus grounds to identify security risks, and ensure buildings, unoccupied rooms, external doors, car parks and security systems are safe and secured.

Undertake escort duties for staff, students and visitors. Monitor campus visitors to ensure safety and access in accordance with campus policies. Attend all responses to alarms, medical emergencies, fires and other similar matters, evacuating premises and contacting appropriate emergency services if required.

Job Description for Security Guard

Skill, Effort, Competencies, and other Specifications
Education: School level education is required but college level is mostly preferred (e.g. H.S.C). Experience: Previous working experience is required. The security guard must at least have 1 year of working experience. Communication: The security guard should be able to speak and write Bengali. Understanding English is highly desirable. Physical demands: Long periods of standing may be required in some cases. Should be able to carry heavy bags and computer equipments. Extensive training is required in order to prepare the security guard physically. Physical strength, height, vision, hearing all factors are considered. Mental demands: Able to deal with students and parents in a gentle manner. Requires long term memory in order to remember present students in order to prevent outsiders to enter the university campus. Must be able to tolerate working pressure of 14 + hours. Other Competencies: Ability to handle situations like campus fire. I.e. must be trained in order to extinguish fire; must be able to cope with uncertainty.
