LOGISTICS & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT Course code: 11MO41 Course Objective: The objective of the course is to: Expose the student to the scope of supply chain management in achieving overall business objective Familiarize about supply chain networks and current trends in logistics. Course Content: UNIT I: Supply Chain Fundamentals, Importance, Decision Phases, Process View. SupplierManufacturer-Customer chain. Drivers of Supply Chain Performance. Structuring Supply Chain Drivers. Overview of Supply Chain Models and Modeling Systems. Building blocks of a supply chain network, Business processes in supply chains, Types of supply chains and examples & Strategic, tactical, and operational decisions in supply chains. UNIT II: Definition and Scope of Logistics Functions & Objectives Modes of TransportationPackaging- Freight Management Route Planning Containerization-Modal Characteristics, Inter-modal Operators and Transport Economies-Packaging- Design considerations, Material and Cost-Packaging as Unitisation- Consumer and Industrial Packaging. UNIT III: Distribution strategies-Warehousing-Types & Operations-Warehouse Management Systems. Procurement Process Types of Purchasing Strategies. Supplier Evaluation, Selection and Measurement. Supplier Quality Management UNIT IV: Overview of Demand forecasting in the supply chain. Collaborative Planning Forecasting & Replenishment (CPFR)-Coordination in the Supply Chain. Supply chain performance metrics SCOR model-Supply chain inventory management and Bullwhip effect UNIT V: Documentation in Logistics Third Party Logistics 3PL Implementation & Operation- Supply Chain IT Implementation -Supply chain strategies.
