Dear Potential Sponsor, I am writing to you on behalf of Muslim Inter Scholastic Tournament otherwise known as MIST.

MIST is a registered non-profit organization that began in Houston, Texas in 2001. It has since spread to over twelve regions across North America with Chicago being the newest region established in 2011. The Chicago region consists of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa and Wisconsin. This year MIST-Chicago will be held at College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, IL March 30th-April 1st. MIST is one of the fastest growing youth initiatives in North America, with exponential increases in tournament participation over the years. MIST has the ability to attract the youth that normally do not participate in Islamic events. MIST is fun, educational, and an interactive program of competitions and workshops geared towards bringing high school students together from around the nation to develop leadership, communication, and other creative skills, all while gaining a deeper understanding of Islam. The tournament is comprised of over 40 competitions that range from Mathematics, Art, Quranic Recitation, Islamic Knowledge, Debate, Nasheed, Basketball, and many more. Throughout the competitions there are many interactive workshops that teach us various lessons from Islam. The tournament takes place in spring of each year for three days on a college campus, and winners move on to the National Tournament which includes all the regions from across North America. This 2012 National Tournament will take place in Toronto, Canada. MIST is built on a theoretical and programmatic model of success. The resounding success of MIST in Houston, DC, Toronto, and many other cities can attest to the fact that MIST is growing exponentially. The success of MIST can be measured qualitatively, particularly in its ability to reach youth who feel indifferent or alienated by their broader Muslim communities or mosques in particular. The success of MIST is due to a timely and relevant theme which guides its interactive workshops, competitions and activities. The foundation of MIST is based upon the principles of the Quran and Sunnah and is implemented in such a way that youth do not feel overwhelmed. These principles provide structure and a means for greater success. The goals and objectives of MIST are to create an interscholastic tournament for high school students in the Chicago as well as the Midwest. It is to provide high school students with growth opportunities through internships, co-ops, and other tangible real-world experiences. It also helps students with engaging curricula that is relevant to their lives through MIST competitions, workshops, tournament experiences, as well as other events throughout the year. The most important goal is to maximize the number of Muslim Student Association members in our local high schools that will establish the foundation of future generations to come. It is our hope that your efforts will have considerable implications on the future of the MIST Chicago. Thank you for your consideration in this important initiative. Best Regards, MIST-Chicago Regional Board

Presently, we are looking for individuals, organizations, and businesses that are interested in being sponsors for MIST. Being a sponsor for MIST is a mutual benefit for the community. First and foremost, you are helping to support the next generation of our leaders. Secondly, it enables us to run an outstanding tournament that will provide everything we need without raising the registration costs for our participants. Thirdly, it is the best way to advertise your business. In fact, the more successful MIST is, the more successful the advertisement of your business will become. With every passing year, the cost of the MIST tournament has risen dramatically. The organizers of MIST are passionate volunteers and dedicate a large amount of their time to running this successful tournament. In addition to our tournament, MIST would also like to expand its activities to include a MIST Olympics, workshops, retreats, and other opportunities for its contestants. In order for us to do this, we need donations outside of the registration fees provided to us by our participants. Also, to ensure that MIST is affordable to everyone, we cannot consciously increase our registration fee anymore. The money you donate to MIST provides our young participants with high quality trophies, monetary scholarships, as well as financial aid for students who cannot afford the registration fees. We will also be able to pay for other expenses, including food, competition materials for our competitors, venue reservation costs, and other overhead costs such as printing and mailing. This year we are also trying to provide all of our winners with internships and opportunities within their chosen careers. Your donations will make our work possible, and they not only help us immediately, but also help our youth reap the benefits for years to come. Your contribution is one way to show that you believe in providing quality growth opportunities for our youth, that you recognize that youth need the opportunity to use creative and non-academic means to reflect on their understanding of Islam, and that you believe that youth can and should be given a chance to be leaders in our community, today and for years to come. Rest assured that your money directly benefits the youth and the participants of MIST.
