With the proliferation of mobile users and their devices, within a campus or across continents, the challenges of operating and managing a network have fundamentally changed. IT has rapidly evolved from a world of fixed to a new world of mobility where everythingpeople, devices, machines, and applicationsare in constant motion. IT now has to support end users with smartphones, tablets, laptops and other wireless peripherals as well as their wired workstations. In addition, the once languid data center has become the IT beehive with server virtualization and the promised nirvana of public cloud services. And users are beginning to define the services that IT must offer as they adopt tablets and their applications, and work on the go. They know what they need to be productive, and they expect the network to deliver.
Our networks know when an application moves in the virtual data center and can follow it with a rich suite of network services. And they enable granular visibility and control, so traffic flows are continuous, mobile resources are more secure, and troubleshooting is a snap. With this new level of identity awareness, IT now has the capability to deliver an end-user experience with pervasive, high quality and uninterrupted access to content and applications. The tangible benefits may include end-user satisfaction and an increase in IT efficiency, both of which drive business agilitya top priority for CIOs today. Today, we enable the deployment of a network that adapts to the requirements of each individual within the enterprise, while recognizing that each enterprise is unique. As the intelligence of public services increases, the extensibility of an Extreme Networks infrastructure will enable the extension of this personalization from the edge of the mobile network to the hosted cloud, and on into the universe of physical and virtual machines.
Workforce mobility is on the rise. In 2011, the mobile workforce is expected to grow to 73 percent of the total U.S. workforce. In 2012, more employees will access corporate resources through smartphones and tablets than through laptops and desktops. In 2012, IT outsourcing and cloud services will reach $51 Billion. In 2015, virtualization will still be the highestimpact issue challenging infrastructure and operations. Extreme Networks is the Ethernet innovator: Turning conventional wisdom on its head for over 15 years.
Since our founding in 1996, we have built a reputation for staying a step ahead of the game. With a corporate ethos that demands vision and innovative thinking from every employee, from the inception of the company we helped set the standard for sophisticated Ethernet solutions that meet the toughest challenges of network connectivity and IP-based communications. With operations worldwide, we provide a selection of professional services and personalized service offerings, including network design, voice and security testing and network kit implementation, as well as 24/7 technical assistance around the world.
Business-Ready Networks for the Edge, Core, and Data Center Within the campus, we deliver new mobility for the converged edge, core and data center. This business-ready solution simplifies the network, converges services and automates operations so that building and managing the network is easier for IT. The network enables personalized and consistent network services and security so users have a seamless quality of experience. The business improves by providing employees the tools to better enable productivity, by allowing IT operations to become more agile, and by helping contain organizational costs. This places the CIO in a position of powerto negotiate with hosting providers to attract the best price for service, and to lead the discussion at the executive table through the ability to offer greater personalization and security of services. Meeting the Unique Needs of the Hosted Cloud We deliver high performance, offering cloud providers standardization and the advantages that come from a best-of-class, multi-vendor approach. Our vision is to extend our campus awareness to the cloud, offering seamless and standards-based handoff for applications and content from the IT data center into the hosted cloud without impacting the user experience. An easier sale, easier on-boarding and easier adoption of the services offered by the hosting provider translates into faster access to revenue, plain and simple. Preserving Investment for Mobile Operators We help address the operators dilemma, permitting them to grow their next- generation 4G networks while preserving existing investments. As we extend intelligence from the campus to the mobile network through standards-based interfaces, operators will be able to offer premium services to their enterprise customers (the modern-day equivalent of ATMs class-of-service, if you will), helping them to grow revenue through compelling new services.
Our network needs to act as one system to support a globally distributed workforce across multiple global branch locations. Building our own cloud with Extreme Networks has enabled our IT group to centralize our resources while maintaining excellent SLAs.
CIO Fortune 1000 financial services company
Our hosting company needs to move virtualized network resources from physical server to server, on the fly, as capacity and content demands from our customers can shift quite suddenly, on any given day. Extreme Networks helps keep all of our virtualized resources under control and simplified.
Director of IT managed hosting provider
To diagnose employee technical issues more quickly and boost productivity, we envisioned that our Help Desk personnel have data such as building location, IP address, switch and port number. The intelligence from Extreme Networks solution enables this new level of visibility, control and automation, allowing us to cut in half our support call times.
IT Support Manager Fortune 1000 pharmaceuticals firm
Data back-up and replication activities were taking far too long for the university as the volume of data had doubled over the past two years. We upgraded all of our server connections and network core to 10 Gigabit Ethernet with Extreme Networks. Instead of waiting all night for back-up to take place, it is accomplished in less than two hours.
