WOMAN WITH GREAT FAITH "And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, a Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil" (Matt. 15 :22). This Lady Recognized Jesus as Lord, the Son of David She put Him in His right place. She recognized that He was born of a virgin, that He was divine. She recognized the Atonement. Anyone who believes in the Atonement believes in divine healing-healing and forgiveness of sin. You cannot separate them. " ... and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick; "That it might be fulfilled which was spoken ... Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses" (Matt. 8 :1617). This little lady knew more about Jesus, through faith, than most of the Jews, who were drilled in theology. She knew more than millions of church members and many preachers in the United States of America. She had a touch of faith. Members of seminaries today, who do not have a touch of faith, say it does not make any difference whether or not you believe that Jesus was born of a virgin. They are calling Jesus an illegitimate child, an imposter, and a false prophet. The wrath of God abides on them (John 3 :36). They are thieves and robbers (John 10 :1). They are antichrist (I John 4 :2). If we bid them God speed we are partakers of their evil deeds (II John 11). There is no other way to be saved; you must believe that Jesus was the begotten of God (John 3:16; Acts 4:12). On an airplane near Tokyo, Japan I was talking to a Japanese teacher from a university in the United States. He said that he believed that Jesus was a good man, but did not believe that He was the Son of God. "If He is a good man, He told the truth", I said. -1-

This teacher agreed that if Jesus were a good man and a prophet He would not lie. I showed him where Jesus ~laimed to be the Son of God. Before we landed the Buddhist confessed that Jesus was the Son of God. This little lady had great faith. She believed that Jesus was sent from God to forgive our sins and heal our diseases. She believed Psalms 103:3. No wonder she received healing for her daughter! Mercy is Healing She asked for mercy and received healing for her daughter. Healing is mercy; mercy is healing (Luke 18 :38). Bartimaeus cried, "Jesus thou son of David, have mercy on me". He received healing for his blind eyes. Recognize Jesus as the Messiah and cry out for mercy, 'and you will receive your healing. Mercy is healing. Healing is mercy ... His m~rcy endu~'eth forever; His mercy endureth to all generations. He IS just as merciful as He was in the days gone by. Jesus does not heal to show that He has power anymore than a mother feeds her baby to prove that she is able to do so. A mother feeds her baby because she is a mother. She is merciful. She loves the baby. "Can a mother forget her suckling child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee" (Isa, 49: 15) . God loves you more than you love your child. He will feed you when you are hungry. He will supply all your needs. The devil has no mercy. He comes only to kill (John 10: 10). Jesus comes not only to save men's souls ... He comes to save our lives (Luke 9 :56). If the devil heals people of sickness then he is converted and has more mercy than some preachers. The Moslems in Africa asked Brother Graham to heal some sick people to prove that he was sent of God. Jesus does not heal to prove He can. He heals because He is merciful. Jesus refused to perform a miracle on the Mount of Temptation to show that He could. He refused to perform a miracle in Herod's judgment hall to prove that He could. He said that if people will not believe the Bible, they

will not believe though (Luke 16:31).

a man would rise from the dead

Came For Her Daughter She told Jesus that her daughter was grievously vexed with a devil. In our day our educators would blame it on her personality. The psychiatrists would have had some big name for it, explaining away sin. But her mother knew that the devil was inspiring her daughter to act the way she did. She could discern spirits better than the religious leaders of that day. She did not call it a mistake or a fault. She recognized her actions as sin. This lady was ahead of many mothers today. She was concerned about her daughter. She wanted her set free from the evil power that had her bound. Many mothers know where their poodle dogs are; but they don't know where their girls are parked tonight. We need more mothers instead of "mammys", who will be interested in bringing their daughters to Jesus when they are in trouble. Millions of girls are vexed with an unclean spirit. Their mothers are grieved with their actions. They have no peace day or night. They have a high temper, or a sullen devil. They cause their mothers to have nervous break downs. They lie in the bed all day and run around at night. They are running around with married men or drunkards. The best remedy is to bring them to Jesus. I know a man who had a habit of beating his boy everytime he was in trouble. One day the Lord spoke to him, and said, "If you keep beating him you will lose him." He saw in a vision his son running away from home. The Lord told him to use faith and prayer and be led by the Spirit. He did. So God gave him a word of wisdom which solved each problem. Now he and his son are "buddies". They get along in one accord. "Send Her Away" The disciples said, "Send her away; for she crieth after us." I used to wonder why the disciples wanted to send the -3-

-2-

poor, sincere lady away. That was human nature. She was not a member of their church. She was not from their denomination. They did not want her to receive anything, because they felt they had a monopoly on the Lord. One pastor told me he did not want to advertise the meeting, because he did not want anyone coming except his own members. Another pastor told me that his members were of a higher class than the people of other churches. He did not want them mixing with other members. When you build a fence you fence out more people than you fence in. One preacher said, "The hospital is the place for people to be born. They are not supposed to be born out on the street." He said his church was the place for people to be saved, not out on the street. He finally succeeded in getting his young people to stop their street-meetings and begin skating parties. He was not interested in winning people on the street, in theaters, in auditoriums, or anywhere except in his own church. He did not want people to be saved unless they joined his church. One missionary said he was on the field to build a church for his denomination. Who must we teach doctrine? It's the babes that are weaned from the breast (Isa. 28:9). We are to teach sinners Christ. Philip went down to Samaria and preached Christ to them (Acts 8:5). That is why he had a revival. Peter opened his mouth and preached to them Jesus. That is why he saw people filled with the Spirit (Acts 10:38) . Too many churches want to send people away. They are isolated Christians. They are fenced in. We see teaming thousands of Catholics healed, while people of our own denominations have been seeking for many years and are still sick. They are depending on who they are. The Catholics are depending on who Jesus is. She Was Not of Their Race She was not from their nation. They did not realize that they had been following the tradition of the elders. They had been taught by their church that they were the only group that was right, that everyone else was wrong. Jesus -4-

had rebuked them time and time again for holding to tradition. They still were not cured. If your group is the only one that is right; if your little group is the only group that is going to heaven, then I am sure you will be lonesome up there. I don't want to go there if there is only a little group of mud-slingers and church haters. The disciples still put their race above all others; they looked down on all other races as inferior groups. Many Jews are still that way. I met a Jewish lady on the train that thought their group was the only group that was right. She compared the Christians to heathens and likened Jesus to Hitler. A Jewish lady in one town, who was supposed to be a Christian told me, "You Gentiles should be proud that Jesus came and died for your sins." What about you T", I asked. "Oh, we would have been saved anyway," she snapped. She felt like all the Jews would be saved because of their race. We are saved by grace and not by race. The Jews are not all that way. Some of the best people I have ever met are Jewish. The Jews are no worse than many of our church members, who have been taught that their church is right and all other churches are wrong. Holding to the tradition of the elders they make the Word of God of none effect. They don't realize they have denominational pride just as the Jews had national pride. Neither of them claim to believe in segregation, but both parties certainly practice it. They are continually building fences and drawing lines! I gave one man a book. He turned up his nose and was afraid to read it. He lets someone keep him in darkness and superstition; he is as bad as the Jews or any cult about his religion. He is afraid he will have to confess to a preacher whom he pays to do his praying, his reading, and his thinking. He should have horse sense. Even a horse eats the hay and leaves the briars. Suppose his preacher is wrong. If the blind lead the blind they will both fall into the ditch. He should have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide him and know God for himself. He should go directly to the Lord and have a personal contact with Him. Then he could be led by his actions on the judgment of his leader, who has never had the Holy Spirit.

Too many church members today want to turn people away if they don't belong to their organization. Recently I prayed for a fine Christian lady of another race. She was instantly healed of a totally blind eye, which had been blind for years. Were the people glad? A few were. Had it been the mayor's wife they would have been running over with joy. But God loves the minority group as well as He loves the mayor's wife. In my last meeting a fine little woman of another denomination was given one of my books. While she was reading that book she received the Holy Ghost! That was wonderful! She was a crippled lady. She was suddenly healed and walked without the aid of crutches. She came back night after night without those crutches. Were the people glad? Had it happened in their church the town would have known about it! A little Baptist lady had been in one church for eight years; she was healed instantly without laying hands on her. The people became angry! You see it did not take 'place in their church. Recently I was in a meeting. There was a state law that a certain race could not come in. They had to be barred from coming under the tent and receiving deliverance while the other race was there. Well, the disciples felt the same way about the poor Syrophenician woman who came to receive healing for her daughter. They wanted to send her away. The Children's Bread
If a little lady can receive healing for her daughter when she is not a child of God surely you can be healed, when you are His child. Jesus came and rent the veil. The middle wall of partition was broken down. (Eph. 2 :14). Now all people are equal in the sight of God. Jesus appeared in the presence of God for us all. All of God's people are one (John 17 :21). Just as you have one local church and many Sunday School classes, organized to carryon the work of the Lord more effectively, so Jesus has only one church. Although man may divide it into different organizations. They are only organized to carryon part of this great work. Of course, there are tares and

wheat in each organization. Don't try to separate them. Let God do that. That is one way Jesus caused the woman to hold on, and keep on. That made her exercise her faith. In this way Jesus saw her faith in action. He said healing was the children's bread. When Naomi told Ruth to go back she made a decision and had a greater determination than ever. She won the battle! When Elijah told Elisha to return from following him he braced himself for the battle and pressed on and won out by faith. His faith went to work and won over opposition. The Lord told Moses, "Leave me alone; let me destroy these people." Moses' faith went to work. The very fact that the Lord said, "Leave me alone" showed that there was a possibility for him to continue on in prayer and save the Children of Israel. This he did (Ex. 32 :32). The very fact that the Lord bargained with Abraham showed it was possible for him to hold back the judgment from Lot. The Lord did not condemn him for doing this; He commended him! He was called the father of the faithful! The Kingdom of Heaven is preached and every man may press into it. The violent takes it by force. The Lord commended this little woman who kept on. She kept on until she received healing for her daughter. In the face of discouragement; in the face of race discrimination, segregation, and denominational pride, she kept on. Jesus said, "Great is thy faith". Jesus likes people who will press past the props and go through to victory in the face of opposition!
As Humble As a Dog

That is another way that woman was made to keep on. She knew that a dog had some rights. She became as humble as a dog. Try to make a dog mad at you. You might succeed. But five minutes later he is laughing! He forgives you. Make some church members mad at you. In five years they are still talking about you all over town. This woman was not stuck up with race hatred and na-

-6-

tional pride. She was not bound by prejudice and denominational hatred. The church members of today will say, "Maybe God gives me this sickness to keep me humble." This little lady did not walk away with the excuse. She humbled herself. "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up" (James 4:10). Great Is Thy Faith When Jesus saw her faith He told her she could have whatever she wanted. He said that to a Gentile lady. He said that twice that we know. Both times He was speaking to Gentiles. The outsiders had more faith than the members. Both parties believed when it was not 'promised to them. In the last few years we have seen teaming thousands of people, of other churches, come in and receive healing while many of our people who claim to be full gospel make excuses for not being delivered. They have so much tradition, when some outsider has perfect faith. The other night when many of the members were prayed for, and came back the second time in the line for healing, it seemed discouraging. Then the next night several sinners came forward and were healed! God saved and healed them in the same minute. They seemed to have perfect faith. They were delivered from alcohol and filled with the Spirit. A few weeks ago in an auditorium meeting in New Orleans a young lady of another race came into the line to be healed. The Lord showed me that she was not saved. She confessed her sins. Then instantly the Lord completely healed her of a totally blind eye. Some of the members could not understand how that sinner could have such perfeet faith for instant healing when they stood back saying they had a thorn in the flesh. We have seen many bootleggers and harlots come and be set free by God's mighty miracle power. They were saved and healed the same night. The other night a lady came to be prayed for. I perceived that she was not saved. She was bound by sin. I laid my hand on her ear that had been totally deaf from birth. It was instantly healed! Then she gave her

heart to God. What wonderful faith some sinners have! It amazes me to think about such faith. This little lady was one that Jesus told she had great faith. The Centurion was the other. Both of them believed at a word. Both of them believed that God would heal at a distance (Matt. 8) Both of these people came for others. Both received answers to their prayers. Both of them were of other races and other denominations. In the New Testament times the disciples and Jesus saw greater miracles among people of other races, other countries and other religions. They won them by miracles. When we go near the border of this country where there are foreigners; when we go into other countries among the foreign speaking people we see greater miracles than ever! The Lord said that if we would carry the gospel to every creature that the signs would follow our ministry. He said that the disciples went EVERYWHERE, the Lord working with them confirming the Word with signs following (Mark 16 :20). Just before Jesus went away that was His last message. His last commendment, was that His people would go back and be endued with power, then carry the gospel to EVERY CREATURE. He promised that if we would do that, the signs would follow our ministry. Nothing pleases the Lord any better than for LIS to go to all people, the people of other races, other churches and other countries. He works with us confirming the Word. He has not made that promise to the people who are only interested in their own denomination, own race, and own relatives. Why do we see thousands of Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, and people of all faiths filled with the Holy Ghost instantly, while many people who are around the full gospel churches claim they have been seeking for years with no results? Answer: When we are interested in all groups, when we go to EVERY CREATURE God works with us confirming the word. If we stay with our own religion, own race, and own relatives, God has not promised to work with us. He does not work miracles for people who are so selfish they are not interested in anyone but their own group.

Even As Thou Wilt After you think it over, that is what God is actually telling us. He that believeth hath. Take whatever you will (Matt. 15 :28). At the Pool of Bethesda Jesus asked a man, "Wilt thou be made whole?" The man had to become willing before He could help him. God won't save, heal, or baptize us against our will. A young man made a vow to the Lord, "If you will bless my ministry I will never marry." The Lord will bless a man's ministry even if he does marry. After fourteen years the man is still working alone. He could have accepted a married life, a happy home, plus a blessed ministry. He only accepted what he was willing to take. His own will shut him off from the rest of God's blessings. I prayed for a lady to receive healing for her ear. She received a marvelous healing. I started to pray for the other ear. "Oh no," she said, "I only came for healing in this ear." She received what she came for. That explains why some folk are saved but don't have the Holy Ghost. They were given what they were willing to receive. Some come for prayer. Some come for healing. Some are prayed for and are not healed. Others are healed and not prayed for. Some are healed at a touch; some are healed at a. word. Others are not willing to accept their healing until they are marched through a line. Be it unto thee even as thou will. Some believe that sickness is a blessing; so they are not willing to lose their blessing. If you think it is God's will for you to be sick then you are not willing to be healed. For you are not willing to go against God's will. If you would rather have sympathy than healing then you are not willing to be healed. One man would not accept his healing until after he settled with the insurance company, for fear he would lose three thousand dollars. God would not force healing on him against his will. Be it unto you even as you will. The Lord Will Heal Sinners We find many places in the Bible that He healed sinners.

We have seen a great number of sinners instantly healed. I don't understand it, but it happens anyway. In the Bible times healing seemed to be a doorstep to salvation. After 'people experienced healing they then believed on the Lord for their salvation. (Act 9 :35, 42; John 5 :14). You say healing is not promised to sinners. Healing is the children's bread. Well, the Lord heals some sinners anyway. He can do anything He wants to do. His mercy, compassion and grace causes Him to relieve the suffering sinner. This lady came to Jesus. Her daughter was healed by proxy. She came in another's stead. We have seen many people come into a service for someone else. Many of them have come into the healing line for a relative or a friend. God would answer prayer and heal their friend at a distance. Not long ago a lady came in her daughter's stead. In another state her daughter was healed. A lady came in her friend's stead. Her friend in a hospital in another city was healed of paralysis. When five doctors came in the next morning to see her die she was completely well! Children's Bread Jesus made it very clear that healing is the children's bread. He says if we ask for a piece of bread He will not give us a stone (Luke 11 :11). Jesus is the Bread of Life. He is the Manna that came from heaven. The bread belongs to the children. Are you His child? Then put your feet under His table and eat! Feel at home! If your child asks for bread the wrong way you understand. You will not let it starve. God is more merciful to His children than you are to yours. Does your child worry all day, afraid that you are going to give it a stone instead of bread? We should put perfect confidence in the Lord. We should not worry, nor fear we will receive a cancer instead of perfect deliverance and healing. I used to think a child was a lot of trouble until one was born in our home. Then he was not the trouble I had thought. I did not mind waiting on him in the middle of the night. I really enjoyed it. I wanted to feed him. You don't worry the Lord when you come to Him. He listens all the day to hear His children pray.

"Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him" (Ps. 103:13). Our Example Jesus set us an example that we should follow His steps. As He is so are we in this world. The works that He did we are to do also. As His Father sent Him so He sends us. We go in His name. We represent Him. He went to all races and all denominations. He did not stand back because of racial pride or denominational prejudice. He ministered to all. Signs followed His ministry. He did not have only natural love that stops with our relatives or our race. He had divine love that reached to all churches and to all countries. The disciples followed His steps. They went into all the world and preached the gospel to every creature. How can you have a ministry with signs following? How can you have God work with you confirming the Word? Follow His example and minister to all. Have the love of God that reaches out to all people without respect to persons. "And they went forth, and preached EVERYWHERE, the Lord working with them, and CONF1RMING the word with signs following" (Mark 16 :20).

Chapter II A MUST IN THE MINISTRY One time Jesus left Judaea and started to Galilee. But He MUST go through Samaria. It was an urgent mission for something. It was every important. It was more important than a business trip, a real estate deal, an oil well, or a Summit conference. There was one hungry soul that needed His help. Jesus knew this by the word of knowledge. Had there been no one in that country in trouble but that one woman He would have gone to help her. It was not popular for Jesus to go through that country. Those people were looked down on as half-breeds, servants, an inferior class, off brands, and of the lower level. It was counted a reproach for a Jew to talk to a Samaritan. The Jews had no dealings with them. Would Jesus make Himself an object of criticism? Would He risk His reputation? Would He go against public opinion to win a women who would never be a popular member in a synagogue? Jesus must go! There was a compelling force, a crying need, a strong call, a clear leading of the Spirit. Jesus had come for all races; that WHOSOEVER believeth on Him should not perish. Jesus said that He MUST be about His Father's business. He said the Son of man MUST suffer many things. He said, "I MUST preach the Kingdom of God in other cities also". He said, "Ye MUST be born again". He said "so MUST the son of man be lifted up". He said, "They that worship him MUST worship him in Spirit and in truth." I-Ie said, "I MUST work the work of him that sent me while it is day." There were things that Jesus MUST DO. He MUST go through Samaria. There are a few things today that Jesus MUST DO, a few things that we MUST DO. He said we will hear of wars and rumors of wars, "For such things MUST BE." He also said, "And the gospel MUST first be published among all nations" (Mark 13 :10). This is a must. That is why the signs follow our ministry, because we are obeying His command to pub-13-

-12-

lish the gospel to ALL people, regardless of race, religion, or relatives. That is why signs followed His ministry. That is why the Lord works with us, confirming the Word. We love all people. You say, "Well, the signs will follow if you have faith". You won't have faith if you are only inter. ested in your own race, own color, and own church. Faith without works is dead being alone. If you love all races and denominations well enough to do something about it you will have faith that produces signs following. Faith works by love (Gal. 5 :6). If you have God's love you have God's faith. If you have the Spirit you have the fruit of the Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is both love and. faith. God is love. If you have God you will love, not just your own church and own color. You will love all countries, all churches, all colors and all classes. The Disciples Surprised They saw Jesus talking to a woman, a sinner, of another group, another race, another class, another denomination. "J esus, don't you know that woman is a street walke~'? She will never help your reputation?", I can hear one dISciple saying. "I am come to help all people. I have no respect to persons." "She is not wealthy, she is of a low class. People will criticize you. You will certainly be misunderstood," no doubt Peter was saying. "I am concerned about her problems, her burdens, her needs and her soul." Jesus wanted to help her, not for any earthly gain He was seeking; not for advancement or position, not for a higher salary, not to get His picture in the daily paper; but duty calls. He "MUST" respond! Many people don't understand why we go to street meetings, to theaters, tent campaigns, and other places. We have Jesus. The Holy Spirit reaches out to all classes and all colors. We MUST go to all people, even to the remote parts of the world, to people of another nationality or another denomination. If we will go EVERYWlIEHE preaching the gospel He will work with us confirming the Word.

Message of Deliverance Jesus brought the woman a message of deliverance. It was not a message about His race, but His grace. It was not a dead creed but a living Saviour; it was not a formal ritual but a living message; it was not a church doctrine but a present reality. The message was not about a dead Lord of Some by gone past, but a present help in time of need. It was not about a Christ of the Millenium, but about the Christ who is the same today as He will be then. It was not about "The Used to Be" but about "The Great I Am". It was not a message about an isolated church with a fence built around it, which shuts out other races and classes, but about a love that reaches to all classes and colors. He did not preach a dead sermon which He had practiced on twenty years; He brought a message that fitted the case; and went to the heart. Certain people in this nation, who claim to believe in equality of the races and integration, practice segregation. You can't get into some of their clubs, clicks and classes. Go into their homes and you will see they have servants to wait on them. Sure they have class distinction. Go to their motels, hotels, hospitals. You will see servants, maids, and porters who do the work; they do the dictation. You say, "My church doesn't believe in segregation". Maybe not. But I was in one full gospel church lately. The pastor told me he had several different classes. Neither class would mix with the other. That is the carnal nature. When you are full of the Spirit you will love all people. Some people will send millions of dollars abroad if they know that the public knows about it, but are they really interested in other races? Will they do like the good Samaritan, stop and help some man of another race out of the ditch, or will they walk by on the other side? How about the minor races and groups in this nation? Will they try to win them? If not then their mission money is not given in the right spirit; they have their reward. Some people can shout in their church but in another church they sit and look like a tree full of owls. A real Christian will pray anywhere! If vou try to get people

-14-

-15-

saved in your own church, and care nothing about helping them get saved in another ch urch, that proves you are not sincere, that you have a carnal, selfish spirit, and care nothing for souls. You don't have the love of God that reaches to all the world. No wonder the signs don't follow your ministry. You shout in your own church and sit and make fun in other churches. One minister said, "Only a low class of people go down to that tent meeting." Jesus came for all classes. Everyone who is really saved is in one family and in one class. In the Bible days there were no church houses. People went EVERYWHERE preaching. The signs followed. We have seen old cowboys come up and get saved in the auditoriums and tents, who were not allowed in some people's church, because they did not have anything but blue-jeans. to wear. They were saved and healed and went on to be with Jesus. God loves them as well as He loves you and your denomination! The Supernatural Wins Souls

today. She was a wicked woman, but at that she was not as wicked as the church leaders of that day who made the blasphemous accusation that Jesus was using mental telepathy. Jesus told them they were committing the unpardonable sin when they accused Him of using evil power to do his work (Matt. 12 :32). Living Water Jesus saw the woman's faith and gave her the living water, a well springing up that she did not need to draw. She had a foretaste of heaven and ran to tell others! She left the water pot and took the well back! Many people today need to meet the Master. They need the living water. They need to leave their water pots of church creeds and race -prejudice. They need to leave their racial pride and criticism. They need to forsake their water pots of sectarianism and narrow-mindedness. Then they will be willing to tell everyone; not only their own race and own denomination. They will make the campaign. city-wide and take the glad news to every race, creed, and color. The woman did not stay only with her own creed and own sect. She went beyond her nationality and her own denomination. She was not so narrow that she thought her own group was the only one that was right. She found the real Christ. She found the living water 1 She found instant deliverance from sin and bondage. She did not beg, plead, pull, tarry, and pray for ten years for that experience. She received instant deliverance. That is the kind of power that is in the revival where people are interested in all people. The woman did not do penance. She was delivered before she learned the catechism or joined the church. She was set free from sin before she was baptized. She did not have to go to school for years to learn how to be a Christian. She did not receive a religion; she received a living Saviour! When I married I did not receive a married religion. I received a real person, and a real companion. One minute the woman was a child of the devil; the next minute she was a child of God. One minute she was empty; the next minute she was full! Last Sunday night in Hartford a missionary who had

Jesus told the woman the secrets of her heart. This caused her to acknowledge that He was sent of God. He said, "Go call your husband". He told her that she was living with a man without being married. He told her just how many times she had been married. This was a word of knowledge in operation. People criticize this gift today; but the gifts of the Spirit in operation wins the lost. As far as the woman was concerned that was proof to her that He was a prophet. She did not say, "I perceive that you are a fortune-teller". She did not say, "You are using mental telepathy or mind over matter" .She was a wicked sinner, but she had more discerning of spirits than many preachers have today. While the high up church leaders of that day were saying that Jesus was of the devil, and doing His works with the devil's power, she perceived that He was sent from God. Jesus was not swayed by tradition. The woman did not let tradition keep her away from spiritual help as people

gone to the depth of sin came forward and was delivered instantly. One minute she was bound; the next minute she was free! During that same meeting two girls came to make fun. They thought we were false prophets. Then before long they perceived that we were sent of God. They both were delivered and set free! They were happy for their experience . .A:; low down in sin as they went they still had more discerning of spirits than many religious leaders in that city. How long did it take the woman to be converted? The moment she received Christ she was changed! She could have gone to school for years and not known the reality of Christ. She received Him instantly. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." City Wide Revival She did more than just testify at church on prayer meeting night. She went out and stirred the city for God. A city wide revival was the results. Many people came to God. They saw a change in the woman. All this took place out side the church house. That is why signs followed. Jesus was concerned about more than forty between four walls. He was interested in EVERY CREATURE. The woman was not ashamed of the Christ that saved her. She went against public opinion. She saw the light on deliverance. She did not confine herself to one group and one class. She did not confine herself to one church organization, meeting house, or denomination. She did not qualify for ordination, but preached Christ and won many people to God. She was not confined to the upper crust or the lower class; she carried the glad news to all. She went to the aristocrats and and the ally rats, to the in-laws and the out-laws, to the theaters and dance halls, to the road houses, prisons, jails and clubs. She was not backed by a formal church. She was sent and backed by Jesus. She went in His name. She did not go to only one church; she went into the city and told all men!

Not a Pull But a Push No one pulled strings and gave her a revival. She did not have a pull, but she had a push. He that has a push will catch up with him that has a pull. She was not advertised as a ball of fire; she was a flame of fire! She was not cut off from the source of supply. Some people burn out when they become a "ball of fire" evangelist. Christ worked with her confirming the Word. She did not wait to be sent; she felt an urge! She had God! She loved all people. She had the "go ye". She felt the well springing up within; she felt fire shut up in her bones! She could not have held a church office; she was a novice. But she won souls. She was not experienced. She was not elected a leader of a group; was not an official, but she had the anointing! She had not gone to Bible school and learned to preach Christ. She learned more in that one conversation than she could have learned at school in a life time. She learned that they that worship God must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. It worked! It brought results. The woman won souls to God because she worshipped God in the Spirit. She did not depend on words of man's wisdom, but the power and the demonstration of the Spirit. The Lord worked with her! If we would get the anointing; if we would get the burden and the compassion; if we would see all men alike; if we would go out into the highways and hedges; if we would go into the city and contact the unreached; if we would realize that there are untold millions untold; then God would work with us with signs following. Too many people pray like this, "Lord save me and my wife, my son and his wife; these four and no more." She Preached Christ Paul determined to know nothing but Christ. Peter opened his mouth and preached Jesus. Philip went to Samaria and preached Christ. This lady told people about Christ. The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy. She did not preach an organization, a creed, or a million

-18-

-19-

dollar church house, she preached John 3:16. She said, "Come see a man, who told me all things." She preached about the word of knowledge; she preached about the manifestation of a spiritual gift. She offered that as proof that the supernatural Christ was present. That won men! She did not say, "Come see my new pastor; come see our organization; come see my creed, ritual, or fast growing Bib1e School." She did not preach her race; she preached God's grace. She did not preach her family tree. She preached Jesus. That is why signs followed. She believed in Christ. Christ believed in the equality of all people. We are living in a time of revival when God-is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh (Acts 2:15-20) . Organization or Organism This little lady was part of a living organism, which had life. An organization may not always have life. She belonged to a spiritual fellowship. She had leaped across denominational barriers and racial distinction. A lady dreamed she died and went to heaven. To her surprise there were no Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, or any other denominations there. "Where is my denomination?" she inquired. "There are no denominations up here", she was told, "everyone belongs to the one family of God". This same lady dreamed that she died and went to hell. There she sawall denominations. Go to China and you will see people there with five hundred gods. Start preaching your denomination to them. They will say, "I thought you Americans only had one god. I see you have more gods than we have." Preach a resurrected Christ to them. When they see that He is- alive today they will surrender their lives to Jesus!

Chapter III CHRISTIANS ARE CHRISTLIKE

Jesus commended the Centurion and said that he had more faith than any of His people. The Centurion was not a Christian, yet he had more faith than God's people. He was not tied to one race or one denomination (Matt. 8) The Jews said, "You really should heal this man's servant because he is worthy; he built us a synagogue." Jesus ignored such reasoning. Jesus does not heal people for any goodness of their own. Our righteousness is as filthy rags in God's sight. It is not what we have done for Jesus that counts, but what He has done for us. It is not by our stripes, but by His stripes, that we are healed (I Peter 2 :24) . The Centurion came to the Lord and said, "I am not worthy". His servant was healed. His servant was healed by proxy. If you think you are worthy you are not (Matt. 8). The Pharisees thought they had a monopoly on Jesus. They were glad that they were not like other people. Modern Pharisees A millionnaire came into the healing line one night and stopped me. "Do you remember who I am?" he said. As I started to acknowledge him the anointing left me! He was not healed. He died a short time later. It is not who you are. It is who He is that counts. Jesus told the Centurion that he had great faith. The Pharisees missed the revival in Jesus' day because they were depending on who they were. They could not understand that Jesus came for all races and all people. Many people don't understand that God is pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh in this last day revival. They stand back, criticize and miss the blessing. Paul Learned His Lesson He was an orthodox Jew, a real strict Pharisee. He was willing to die for his religion and though t no other religion was right. He could not be changed except by judgment from God. lIe was struck to the earth and saw a light.

-20-

In a VISIOn,while he was blind, after he was knocked to the earth, while he was fasting, he was taught that God wanted him to go carry the gospel to all nations. He saw t~at God loved all people. He was appointed a life of persecution and suffering. Anyone who loves all people will suffer persecutions. Paul accepted the revelation that all races are equal. He p:acticed ,:hat he preached and carried Timothy along with him as his helper. The Jews were segregationists and wanted to kill Paul for doing so. (Acts 21 :28). Paul met persecutions by his own church because He loved all people. Acts 21 :21. The servant is not greater than his Lord. Jesus was persecuted and killed for helping all people of all races. Jesus was put to death by envious religious leaders who were full of prejudice. Paul was whipped by mobs because he did not believe in, or practice, segregation. Paul's brethren turned against and could not understand him. He had a message of love to all people and all races. Even kings thought that he had gone mad! (Acts 26 :23-24). Paul lost his audience sometimes when he mentioned other races (Acts 28 :28-29). But he well understood the plan of G.od.to :each all people (Col. 3: 11). Paul did much during hIS.h~etIme to breakdown hatred, prej udice and walls of opposition between races and denominations (Gal. 3 :28, Acts 10:12, Col. 3:11). Christians Are All In One Class Many people believe in Jesus and are baptized. But how about the rest of the verses "Go ye into ALL the world and preach the gospel to EVERY creature". They stop at their denomination and race. So the rest of the verse is not for them if they don't take all of it. The signs will not follow their ministry if they are not interested in all people. They are causing more infidels than the men who profess to be infidels. They by their actions, are teaching that part of the Scripture is right and part of it is wrong. If you really believe the Bible you will warn everyone regardless of race or religion. One church is singing, "Plunge out into the deep". Another one right across the street is singing, "You are drift-

ing too far from the shore." While one church is singing, "Will there be any stars in my Crown", the one on the next block is singing, "No not one". They sing, "Happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away." But they have not seen a happy day since. They sing "Everybody will be happy over there." But you must be happy down here. The Democrats say the Republicans are wrong. The Republicans say the Democrats are wrong. They are both right. Each church says the other is wrong. They are both right, because they fight each other. The sailor boys fought the soldier boys. The soldier boys fought the sailors. But when they found that the Japanese were their enemy they won the war! If the church of America will learn that the devil is their enemy, and fight him instead of each other, we can win the world for Christ. If a farmer takes some cotton to town, the company who buys the cotton does not ask him which road he came. The one thing the buyer is interested in is, "Do you have good cotton 7" God is not so interested which organization you belong to. The thing is this: Do you have Jesus in your heart 7 Are you born from above 7 Sectarian Spirit John saw another group casting out devils. Yet they did not belong to his church. He wanted to call fire down from heaven and destroy them. But he did not know what manner of spirit he was of (Mark 9 :38). Many preachers today have that same spirit. They want the other group to be under their jurisdiction, so they can legislate and censor them. John wanted the world to know he did not endorse or recommend the other group. Jesus said forbid them not. Jesus did not say, "Leave them alone." He did not say that you could not speak to them. He was not against them (v. 40). He had other sheep which were not of that fold. (John 10:16). The other group could not be wrong; for Satan does not cast out Satan (Luke 11 :18). This proved that Jesus does not force all Christians to belong to one group. Jesus is the

-22-23-

head. He wants us to follow the leading of the Spirit. God puts the members into the Church as it pleases Him (I Cor. 12 :28). Jesus is the door (John 10 :9). He opens and no man shuts. He shuts and no man opens (Rev. 3 :7). A man is born into the church. If he is ever out he sins out. You say, "There are so many ways I don't know which way to go". Jesus says, "I am the Way" (John 14 :6). If you find Jesus you have found the Way. The way is so plain that a fool does not need to err. (Isa, 35: 8) . Nine Blind Men The nine blind men examined an elephant. One felt of his ear and said that he was like a leaf. One felt of his tail and said he was like a rope. The man who felt of his side said he was like a wall. The men who felt of his snout was of the opinion he was like a root. But when they got their eyes open they all saw alike. All of them were honest! All Christians are honest. Each of them has part of the truth. Now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face (I Cor. 13: 12). We will then have our eyes opened and know as we are known! The Man in the Tombs One time Jesus said that they were going over to the other side of the lake. He did not say they were going to the bottom of the ocean. But the disciples thought they were going down. They became afraid when the waves and winds rose. Jesus stilled the waves and saw that the group crossed that stormy lake. He did all this for one man, as far as we can see; for a man that was put in fetters and chains, a man who could not be bound. He broke the fetters! He broke out of every prison and stayed in the graveyard. He was of a different race. He was of a different denomination, but Jesus made this dangerous journey to deliver him. (Mark 5) Jesus saw something in this man. The man fell and worshipped Him. The man was willing to be set free; but the devils in him cried, "Leave us alone". That is what the devil cries every time, "Go away and leave us alone." A legion of devils left the man and went into a herd of

swine. The swine committed suicide. The man had an unclean devil of suicide. The man had devils in him that would choke a hog. People today have unclean devils. They drink beer that is not fit for a hog. Soon the man was clothed and in his right mind. When you get your right mind you wil1 wear some clothes. The man went home and published the glad news all over his town. Many people are busy publishing what God "can't do." We must publish what God can do. Why did the signs follow Jesus' ministry? It was because He was willing to go into an unfriendly country, to the rescue of a man, even if he did not belong to His race 01' His church. That is the signs that will follow us if we are willing to GO EVERYWHERE and preach the gospel to EVERY CREATURE (Mark 16 :18). Jesus Receiveth Sinners

A very sinful woman came by where Jesus was visiting Simon the Pharisee. His very presence caused the woman to be under deep conviction (Luke 7 :50). Jesus, seeing the woman said unto her, "Thy sins be forgiven thee." The Pharisee said if Jesus had known what kind of woman she was He would have had nothing to do with her. He did not understand how Jesus could pay attention to a sinful woman, who did not even belong to his church. Although she was not of his race or his religion she was instantly saved. She did not say a word that we know. She was saved before she joined Simon's church, did penance, learned the catechism; before she was put under the water her sins were instantly forgiven! Recently I saw a lady of another color receive instant healing for her blind eyes. I saw a Baptist lady delivered instantly from crutches and filled with the Spirit. I saw two men delivered from alcohol. I saw a Mexican lady delivered from crutches. But the members of that church could not understand why God could do this to these "strangers" and "street walkers" and some of the members yet not healed and filled. God does not look at the church to which you belong. He takes note of your heart's attitude.

Mrs. Nobody A lady spent all she had on physicians. She grew worse. She was sent home to die. The Bible really does not say whether she was a little woman or big woman, Jewish or Gentile, brown or white, pretty or ugly. We don't know whether she was large or small, short or tall, bad or good. We don't know anything about her. She was a stranger, a Mrs. Nobody. (Mark 5) She pressed past the props. She passed all opposition. She reached through the crowd and touched the hem of His garment. She pressed past the denominational fence, the race barrier, and religious prejudice. She passed doubters and pouters, the Pharisees and the Sadducees, the mockers and scoffers. She felt that Jesus had no respect to presons. She believed in feelings. Jesus believed in feelings. He felt that virtue had gone out of His body. She felt that the plague was gone. Jesus said, "Somebody touched me". She was not a Mrs. Nobody anymore. She was a Mrs. Somebody. Regardless of who you are; regardless of what you belong to, if you have faith in Jesus; if you press past race prejudice and fences, and touch Him by faith you will have the virture of Christ. He is the divine nature in your mortal body! You will have royal blood flowing in your veins! Regardless of your religion and race you can come to Christ and receive His virtue and be made whole! You will be somebody. If we take the gospel-the glad news-to all people everywhere He will work with us CONFIRMING the Word. A Certain Man Went Down He went down from Jerusalem to Jerico and fell among thieves. They stripped him of his raiment and left him half dead. He was left naked, broke, and dying! (Luke 10) A preacher came by on one side and looked at him. He did not belong to his church, so he walked on by and left him. A deacon came by on the other side and looked. He was not of his class so he felt no responsibility. Maybe he was of a different race. He did not belong to his church. He had all the troubles he wanted of "his own." He was only

elected to help his own denomination. He was so busy helping "his own church". He did not believe in foreign missions. He felt his race was superior to others. A Samaritan came along. He looked at the man with compassion. He was not of his race or of his church. Yet he risked his life among the thieves to help the stranger. He bound up his wounds and poured in the oil. He carried him to an inn. He told the keeper to care for the man and he would pay the bill. Had he been like the deacon he would have said, "I have paid my tithes and supported my church; that is my part." The love of God does not stop at your own church or after you have paid tithes. Some matches won't strike anywhere but on their own box. I like a match that will strike anywhere. A real Christian will have compassion anywhere. A real Christian will give in the offering in a tent, auditorium or in another church. If you will obey Jesus' command to carry the gospel to every creature-s-even outside your own church-then the signs will follow your ministry. You can have compassion and bind up the wounds. The One Stranger Jesus told such stories as the one above, and worked such miracles as the following, in order to stress it to the proud Pharisee's mind that all people were equal in His sight. Ten lepers came to Jesus. Jesus told them something to do. As they obeyed Him they were cleansed. Nine of them thought that was no more than His duty. They felt like He owed it to them, that they were worthy. They were church members, you know. They were not thankful. One of the lepers returned and glorified the Lord. He poured out his heart with gratitude. He was a stranger. He did not feel he was worthy. He did not feel he was equal with Jesus. He was of another denomination, of another race. Jesus commended him. He used that as an object lesson to those church members, who thought they were better than others. This stranger was made whole! He had a whole eye, a whole hand, and a whole foot. The others were only cleansed. (Luke 17).

-26-

-27-

We have seen people who were cleansed from sin come back, humble themselves and pour out their hearts in gratitude to Jesus. They received the whole armor of God. Many times they were of another race or another denomination, while our own people felt that God owed it to them. They were not so thankful. You can see why the signs followed Jesus' ministry. He felt a compassion for EVERY CREATURE. He is our example. His Brethren The Bible school in one town taught that all the Jews would be saved because they are Christ's brethren. They said that Americans would be saved because they are friendly to Christ's brethren. Who are His brethren? Jesus said that whosoever does the will of His Father is His brother (Matt. 12 :46-50). He made it clear to those stiff, starchy church members that no one had any monopoly on Him. They are not ahead of anyone else. We are all equal. There is no other way to be saved except through Jesus. If you don't believe that He is the Christ the wrath of God abides on you. We must all come in the same way. He is a Jew that is a Jew inwardly. He that is a Jew outwardly is not a Jew. If we put everyone equal, as did Jesus, then the signs will follow (Mark 16:15-18). I've Seen Segregation When I was small I had an inferior complex. I crawled under the bed when someone came. I went barefooted. Other school children made fun of my mother's thirteen children because they went barefooted and did not have enough in their dinner pail. We went to the bushes to eat. Others would not associate with us because we could not dress like them. I was run away from church, kicked out of the altar, whipped, scratched, hit in the head with a pipe. I lost my girl friends, because I was from a different section of the woods and was of a different class. I was left out of the ball games, clubs, parties, and entertainments. In church I found splits, splinters, clicks, and clans. In

traveling I've seen people look out the window of planes, trains, and buses. They felt they were a high class; they would not talk. They were segregated into denominations, clubs, classes, nationalities politics and races. They were proud and haughty. Some church groups think they are the only ones who are right; that others are off brands. In some parts of the city you can't live unless you are able to build a hundred thousand dollar home. In some churches you can't be a member unless you can buy a long tail coat. After I see all this I want to be sure and treat all people alike and carry the gospel to every creature, regardless of their race, class, church, or color. Then God will confirm the Word. The Nationality of Jesus

Rachel was the great grandmother of Jesus. This within itself made Jesus half Jew, naturally speaking, for Rachel was a Gentile. Rebekah was a Gentile; she was the great grandmother of Jesus; this made Jesus only one-fourth Jew (naturally speaking). Bathsheba was a great grandmother of Jesus. This made Jesus only one-eighth Jews. Ruth was another Gentile lady, who became great grandmother of Jesus, which made Him one-sixteenth Jew. Jesus did not have any earthly father, which made Jesus only one-thirtysecond Jew. By the time we traced the natural linage of Jesus for four thousand years there would not be very much of the Jew, or another race, to boast about in the natural. Jesus came to die for all the people of the world. He did not love the Jew anymore than He loved any other race. He did not love any other race anymore than He did the Jew. With Him all men are born equal. In God's sight one race is as good as another. He that is a Jew outwardly is not a Jew (Rom. 2 :28). He is a Jew that is a Jew inwardly. He that is circumcised at heart is a Jew (Rom. 2 :29). The natural race of Israel boasted in the fact that they were Jews. Jesus detested such racial pride. Jesus was the true Jew. He was the seed of Abraham (Gal. 3:16). If you are a Christian then you are of the seed of Abraham; we are the only true Jew.

-28-

-29-

Now you can see how Jesus is interested in all the people of the earth. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16) . "And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to ALL PEOPLE" (Luke 2:10). Everyone That Asketh

Jesus said, "If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent"? Then Jesus said, "For EVERY ONE that asketh receiveth" He did not say, "Everyone that belongs to your church." He did not say "Everyone that belongs to your race." He did not say that you had to be a rich man, a poor man, a pretty man, or an ugly man. He did not say that you had to be large or small, free or bond, young or old; with black hair or brown hair; bald headed or with well groomed hair; a man or woman; boy or girl; Methodist or Baptist; Assembly of God or Catholic. Everyone that asketh receiveth! Jesus took in all denominations and people who do not belong to a church. He included Jews and Gentiles; Protestants and Catholics; Americans or Russians; Africans or Asians. EVERY ONE that asketh receiveth. Come to His terms. H~ that believeth hath! We are living in a day when the invitation is going out for people to put on the wedding garment and prepare for the marriage supper in the air. The people who have been invited all these years have refused the invitation. The Lord is making a quick work! He is telling us to go out into the highways and hedges and compel people to come in that His house will be full. Yet there is room. Come for all things are now ready (Luke 14:21). He is telling us to bring in the poor, the lame, the halt, the blind, and WHOSOEVER WILL. He is not sending the invitation to one group, one denomination, or one church. -30-

He is sending and telling all people of all churches, of all nations. Go and preach the gospel to every creature. Go and tell all nations. The gospel must first be published to all nations; then the end will come (Mark. 13 :10). The people could not understand why Jesus ate with "sinners" (Mark 2:16) That is the kind of people Jesus came to save and heal! That is the kind of people He sent you and me after. He did not say for us to sit in one place and expect people to come to us. He says, "Go ye into ALL the world, and preach the gospel to EVERY CREATURE . . . And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover" (Mark 16: 15-18) . Do you want the signs to follow your ministry? Do you want the Lord to work with you, confirming the Word with signs following? Then you work with the Lord and He will work with you. He will confirm the Word with signs following if you will do as the people of the early Church. Carry the gospel to every creature. Go into all the world. Go to every creature, regardless of race, color, creed, or church. The Lord is going to them. Go with Him and He will go with you. He will confirm the Word with signs followinz. (Mark 16:20).
