Gender Equity Strategy of LGED


Goal:

To ensure gender equity in all its operations including project activities through the participation of an empowered workforce and communities in a sustainable way
To ensure equitable participation and employment of women and men To prioritize benefit of poor and contribute to Governments poverty reduction and gender mainstreaming goals

Gender Monitoring System

Gender concerned staff (field level) responsible for collection of sex- disaggregated data and reporting at field level (district, sub-district, municipality) Central level Gender personnel responsible for collection of sex- disaggregated data, reporting, analysis and operations of software at central level Project gender concerned personnel responsible for collection of data, reporting and analysis at project level Gender operational data shared with LGED management through the Gender Forum Feed back shared with field level for future updating

Overall Achievement of LGED (2011)


Employment generation of 631,015 women Self employment of 195,650 poor women

73,340 women got micro-credit through income generating activities


249,069 poor women got training on different issues e.g. IGA and social awareness 14 womens market sections constructed where 112 shops are being operated by women

Overall Achievement of LGED (2011) cont. 194 infrastructures (bus terminal, community centre, union parishad complex building) constructed where support facilities for women ensured (toilet, rest room, day care etc.)

6,029 women beneficiaries included in different committees and participated in discussion Celebrate international womens day at different level
