Staffing Rotation – Delivery Room
Week #1 Nov. 13 – 15, 2008

REFLECTION

This week is the beginning of our rotation in staffing. I was nervous

because I honestly lack exposure in the delivery room, particularly in the hospital,
because we had more time of duty in the lying-in. It seems that I really do not
know what to do; in addition, I am very anxious of our seminar since we are the
first group. However, during the first day, which is the orientation, everything went
smoothly and I felt better realizing how kind our head nurse is. I am grateful to be
in the area because, aside from the fact that I still do not have any case in my
DR, the area seems to be a very good place for learning.
Being in the staffing rotation is tough, especially in my area of assignee
because I do not have any friends with me and I do not have my CI to go along
with me. This rotation made me realize that in just a few months time, we will be
entering in the real world of independence. I am still very afraid to go on duty at
times. Then I realized that I am still a student, and that I am there to learn and
gain experience that would help me in my future.
No matter how anxious you are, we still must go on in whatever we ought
to do. Fear is good, it means there is something we are afraid to loose. We must
always keep ourselves strong in whatever challenges we face. Now that I am few
steps away from graduating, I should make the most of this rotation and be able
to accomplish all my goals.
