FOREWORD

all generations will call me blessed

-St Luke1:46-49 Canticle of Mary

The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God and our Mother, is the realization of God the Fathers promise that the gates of heaven will be reopened because from her blessed womb the Son of God was incarnated, she has become the Mediatrix of all graces. The Philippines has been so blessed in the whole of Asia that it serves as the light to the nations on this part of the world, as it is the only Christian and Catholic country in the Far East. God loves us. He sent the Blessed Virgin Mary, Ina Poon Bato prior to the arrival of the Missionary Priests from Spain. Our forefathers bent their knees to her, asked for her intercession and offered their love at her foot. I am admonishing all the blessed or sealed sons and daughters of our Beloved Ingkong, God the Holy Spirit, and members of the Apostolic Catholic Church, and every Christian to be a devotee of Ina Poon Bato, the Patron Saint of the Philippines, for the conversion of sinners and the peace of the whole world. May God shower us with His abundance through her, Ina Poon Bato.

Saint Maria Virginia

ACC Matriarch and Foundress of the International Block Rosary Convention

BRIEF HISTORY OF INA POON BATO

Before the arrival of the Spaniards in the Philippines, up on the mountains of Botolan, Zambales, in the island of Luzon, there was a well known and skilled hunter named Djadig who was a nomad and belonged to one of the tribal aborigines of the Filipinos, 3

the Aetas. One day, when there was a drought, together with his three sons, he went out to the forest to hunt for food. It was almost sunset, still empty-handed; they decided to rest for a while beside the Pastac River. Suddenly, Djadig heard a voice saying Tumindig ka Djadig, hanapin at dalhin mo ako sa inyo, (Stand up Djadig, bring me to your home). Immediately he stood up and looked around where the voice was coming from. He saw a very beautiful lady dressed in gold on top of a boulder (bato). When he got closer to the lady he found out that it was a statue made of shiny wood. Dalhin mo ako sa inyo (Bring me to your place), once again the voice said coming from the statue. He did bring the statue, as soon as they reached home, Djadigs wife was so mad when she learned that they were not able to bring anything for food except for the wooden image. Because of her fury, she took the wooden statue and tossed it on the furnace that led to a blazing fire in their home. After smothering the blaze, they were astonished to find out that the statue is still whole with no stray marks and the dress is shining as gold. The Aetas afterwards enshrined the statue on top of the boulder (bato) where Djadig first found it. The aborigines considered this statue to be the protectress of their tribe, calling her Apo Apang or Little Queen. Because of this, the drought has ended, rain came and the mountain was restored to its being green like in spring and soon the abundance of deer and wild boar was noticed. When the Spaniards came they heard of the story of the miraculous image. They went up to the mountain and found the statue on top of a boulder (bato) on its original place and confirmed that it is an image of the Virgin Mother of God. Thus, they called this statue Ina Poon Bato. The Spanish friars and soldiers who thought that they were the first Christians to set foot in the Philippines were so amazed and were thinking how this image of the Blessed Virgin Mary reached the Islands before their arrival. To date, the aforementioned original Image is with the Aglipayan 4

Church (the Philippine Independent Catholic Church) in Zambales. Devotion and veneration to this particular image have been propagated by prominent personalities. Pilgrim replicas are being introduced to the archipelago and the whole world. The Apostolic Catholic Church, ACC, under the leadership of Patriarch John Florentine, by the inspiration of Saint Maria Virginia, has proclaimed Ina Poon Bato to be the Patron Saint of the Philippines. The latter brought a replica of the pilgrim image of Ina Poon Bato to the United States, Canada, and Hong Kong in the early 1990s to further the devotion of Christians to the Theotokos, (the Mother of God) who has brought about innumerable miracles: petitions were granted, illnesses were cured etc., to those whom she have chosen to welcome her into their homes as a guest and anyone who pledges a particular devotion and veneration to her miraculous presence.

INTRODUCTION
To Jesus through Mary this simple teaching about the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, is unfathomable as we meditate on her important role in the Salvific mission of Our Lord Jesus Christ, i.e. Co-Redemptrix. Devotions to her grew at the foot of the Cross when She was given to us as our Mother - through His Apostle, St. John and since then has been inevitable. 5

In the early days of the Christian Church, the monks and other religious people recite 150 psalms daily. Problems arose when it was made public especially to those who could not read thereby prompting a new devotion, i.e. in place of the psalms, which is to recite 150 Our Fathers daily. Furthermore, in the 12th century, as the devotion to the Theotokos (Mother of God) intensified, the Our Father was replaced by 150 Hail Marys. The Rosary devotion was given to Saint Dominic by the Mother of God in the thirteenth century to overcome the heresy of the Albigensis, The Rosary Crusade of Dominic was successful and the Albigenses were defeated. As a result, devotion to the beads spread throughout the Christian world. This devotion was accorded the name Rosary from a vision of the Blessed Virgin that while a young man, Blessed Alain, was reciting his Ave Marias, on each utterance a rose issued from his lips. The Blessed Virgin with the Angels, in turn, gathered them and weaves them into a crown and was placed on top of his head. Likewise, one of Her titles on her Litany, Mystical Rose, is another reason for the beads of prayers being called the Holy Rosary. Besides Rosary from the Latin Rosarium we have Chaplet, Garland, and Crown, from the French Chaplete. Today, She is appealing to all Christian families on all Her apparitions worldwide, to pray the Holy Rosary for world peace, for the atonement of sins, and the unity of all families.

The family that prays together stays together.

THE FIFTEEN (15) PROMISES

OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY TO CHRISTIANS WHO RECITE THE HOLY ROSARY 1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces. 2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all who shall recite the Rosary. 6

3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies. 4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and it will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that soul would sanctify themselves by this means. 5. The soul, which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish. 6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying him to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice; he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life. 7. Whoever shall have true devotion of the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church. 8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His Graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in paradise. 9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary. 10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in heaven. 11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary. 12. I shall aid all those who propagate the Holy Rosary in their necessities. 7

13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death. 14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son Jesus Christ. 15. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

WHY WE NEED TO PRAY THE HOLY ROSARY

The Holy Rosary is the meditation of the chief mysteries of the life, death and glory of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother Mary. The whole Rosary is a compendium of the tenets of what every Catholic should know. It is a summary of Christian life. All that is contained in the Rosary are prayers and articles of the faith for guidance of every Christian. The Rosary is a priceless treasure, which is inspired by God Himself most especially on this present time of the reign of God the Holy Spirit, our Beloved Ingkong. Almighty God has given it to you because He wants you to use the Rosary as the most effective tool and weapon to convert even the most hardened sinners and the most obstinate heretics. He has 26

attached it to grace in this life and glory in the next. Let us crown ourselves with roses of the Most Holy Rosary. So by all means we should eagerly crown ourselves with these roses from heaven, and recite the entire Rosary everyday, that is to say the three Rosaries each of five decades which are like three little wreaths or crowns of flowers; the reasons for doing this: 1. To honor the three crowns of Jesus and Mary A. Jesus crown of grace at the time of His Incarnation. B. His crown of thorns during His passion and His crown of glory in heaven. C. The three-fold crown which the Most Blessed Trinity gave Mary in heaven. 2. We should do this so that we ourselves may receive three crowns from Jesus and Mary.

DEVOTION OR VENERATION TO MOTHER MARY

Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary must not be confused with the Adoration of God. Adoration is the supreme worship to Supreme Being - to know, to love and honor, to obey and serve and to thank Him, to repent for our misdeeds and to expect His rewards for our good deeds. The Blessed Mother Mary should not be accorded the Supreme worship of adoration to God. What is given Her is a middle worship, theologically termed HYPERDULIA, a form of veneration over and above that accorded to the Saints but immensely lower than the adoration accorded to God. The statues and icons or pictures of Mama Mary are attempts of man to perpetuate her memory so that her likeness and presence may remain as fresh and live as though she is still in person with and around us. It is not the intention for those images/statues to be 27

adored but simply VENERATED WITH DUE RESPECT AND HONOR. In the personal absence of Mama Mary, devotees find it fitting and proper the beholding of Her statue/image to project their minds and hearts to Her who is in heaven. MARIAN DEVOTION AND EVANGELIZATION Devotion means ardor to worship God and serve Him. It is the interior act of the will giving itself to God with generosity and fervor. Devotion is the joyous dedication of the whole self to God (and to others for the sake of God), in living response to the gift He makes of Himself. Devotion to Mary is the ardor to serve Her, the better to serve God. Mama Mary, the woman, the virgin, and the Mother most blessed of God, associated by Him in the work of the Son to an extra ordinary degree, and even now sharing in His risen glory - Mary says something about God, and something about ourselves. Throughout the history of the Church, it is Mary who has summoned all to give praise and to practice devotion. She is also the one who, at the foot of the Cross, shows her heights which fidelity must reach. Finally, she is the one who, in the Upper Room, indicates how prayer tends above all to ask for the Spirit and gather the community to believers. The Virgin in her own life lived an example of that maternal love by which all should be animated who cooperate in the Apostolic mission of the Church for the regeneration of human beings (Lumen Gentium 65). To evangelize is to announce the good news of the reign of God, the salvation manifested by the miracles and resurrection of Jesus, Son of God became man to make us adopted children of God, and offered in His name to all people. To evangelize is, to make us adopted children of God. We can therefore say that to evangelize is to continue the work of salvation for which the Father sent Jesus. Mama Mary, from the moment of the Annunciation, is the perfect 28

model of faith in the Good News of salvation through the Incarnation of the Son of God. And, as handmaid of the Lord, she devoted herself totally to the person and work of her Son (Lumen Gentium 56). Mary brought Jesus to St. Elizabeth and to St. John the Baptizer. She evangelized the shepherds and the Magi. At Cana, by her faith in Jesus and in union with Him; that its object is the mystery of Christ; and that it is cooperation with the very mission of Jesus.
