MERCURY This is the closest planet to the sun the surface can reach to 801*, but at night is a different

story because there is nothing around to trap the heat in and keep the planet warm mercury can get as cold as -173*c. In space that at 31 miles per second, the fastest planet, faster than any other one. Mercury has no atmosphere. This is also the second smallest planet in the solar system. There was one space craft that had landed on Mercury, which was in 1991 they discovered that it had water and ice at the north and south poles inside de ep craters. The distance from the sun is 35,983,095 miles, one year is 88 days a nd the length or a day is 1,407 hours and 30 minutes. The diameter is 3,032 mile s. Venus Venus is the sister planet to earth. The distance from the sun is 67,237 ,910 miles length of the year is 225 days long, and the length of the day is 5, 832 hours long, and the average temperature is 864*f. The diameter is 7,521 mile s. Earth and Venus is about the same size, mass, density, composition, and dista nce from the sun, that is the only similarities end though. Venus s atmosphere conta ins mainly of carbon dioxide with the clouds of sulfuric and acid droplets. Ther e has only been detected in the atmosphere. Because of the atmosphere is so thick it traps the heat from the sun on the planet. A probe that has been sent to the planet has not ever served more th an a few hours due to the high heat temperatures. About 90 percent of Venus s surfac e is solidified basalt lava. The planet seems to be completely resurfaced with v olcanic activity 300 million to 500 million years ago. The craters on the planet is smaller than 0.9 to 1.2 miles, due because by the time that the meteors burn up in the dense atmosphere before they can reach the surface of Venus. Earth The planet that we know, the planet that we live on is called the big bl ue marble known as earth, the only planet that is known to support life that has air that is breathable, water and land. Wrath is 92,955,820 miles from the sun the year is 365 days 6 hours and 16 minutes; length of a day is 63 hours and 56 minutes. The coldest it gets is -87.7*c to 136*f. the diameter of earth is 7,926 miles. The air that we breath is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen and 1% other ingredien ts envelope us. The atom here protects us from the harmful radiation from the su n. Mars Mars is known as the red planet a rocky surface has volcanoes, meteor im pacts the shifting tectonic plates and huge dust storms. The distance from the s un is, 141,633,260 miles from the sun, the length of the year is 687 days, and t he length of the day is 24 hours and 37 minutes. The temperatures get to -125*f to 23*f. mars diameter is 4,222 miles. Mars seems to have a seasonal change due to the orbit by regular change; the planets climate has changed more than once. The plates that shift on mars are not the same compared to earth. Earths spreads the sea floor apart while Mars seems to push out lava upwards through the crust to the surface. The dust storms that they have the can engulf the whole planet at times, the effects from this is including giant dunes, wind streaks, and wind-carved f eatures. Scientists believe that there could have been water on this planet 3.5 bil lion years ago that the planet was covered in water lakes, and oceans. Now days that planet is to cold and its atmosphere is too thin to allow any type of water

to exist at the surface of mars for long. Mars also has two small moons, no one knows how they got there but the names of the moons are Phobos and Deimos. JUPITER Jupiter is known as the giant, this planet is the largest of them all, t he planet resembles of the sun, as also the atmosphere made of hydrogen and heli um. this distance from the sun is 483,682,810 miles away, the length of a year t here is 4,331 days length of a day is 9 hours and 56 minutes, also the average t emperature is -148*c. the diameter is 88,846 miles. The planet is considered a s tar it is about eight times more massive. This one planet has four moons the siz e of planets the name of those are, Europa, Ganmede, and Callisto. He great red spot that you see on the pictures is a giant spinning storm ; compared to research this one storm has been going on for more than 300 years. The atmosphere is also similar to the sun. Deep in the atmosphere the pressure and temperature increase compressing the hydrogen becomes a metallic and electri cally conducting. Jupiter has a fast rotation. At the center the immense pressur e might support a solid core of ice-rock about the size of earth. The rings arou nd the planet are only visible when back by the sun. They have sent space crafts out towards the planet and made observations of the magnetosphere, solar winds, rings, and Jupiter s auroras. SATURN Saturn is known as the ring planet like the other das giants this planet is also made of hydrogen and helium, fast winds in the upper atmosphere running to each other causes heat to rise, and that causes the color or the yellow and gold banding. Te distance from the sun is 885,904,700 miles away, the length of a year there is 10,759 days and a length of a day is 10 hours and 39 min, the av erage temperature is -178*c, the diameter of Saturn in 74,898 miles. Saturn s ring system is the most extensive and complex in the solar system, hundred and thousands of miles from the planet, the rings are made of mainly ic e water. Te two moons that orbit Saturn is located in the gaps of the rings. Thi s one planet has 50 known moons and there might be more out there that we have n ot yet found. URANUS Uranus is known as the blue planet, this planet mainly spins on a axis t hat often points directly as the sun. The reason why the planet is blue is due t o the methane gas in the atmosphere. The distance from the sun us 1,783,939,400 miles away, the length of a year there is 30,687 days the length of a day is 17 hours and 15 minutes, the average temperature is -216*c. the diameter of Uranus is 31,764 miles. This planet has been revealed as a dynamic world with some of t he brightest clouds and 11 rings in the solar system. This is the 7th sun from the planet and so this would take 84 years to o rbit just one time. This one planet does not have any solid surface this is one of the gas giant s planets. This is the same atmosphere as Jupiter, Saturn, and Nept une, with some very small amount of methane and traces if weather and ammonia. T his planet gets a blue and green color just from the methane gases. The rotation axis is where the planet is nearly knocked on its side. This may be the cause o f the collision from another planet that had might of bumped in to it many of ye ars ago. NEPTUNE Neptune is known as the outermost planet as like Uranus and Neptune gets its bright colors from the methane gas in the atmosphere. This planet is also l ike Jupiter with huge storms that move across it like hurricane storms. Neptune

distance from the sun is 2,795,084,800 miles away, length of the year is 60,190 days, and the length of a day is 16 hours and 7 minutes. The average temperature is -214*c. the diameter is 30,776 miles. Neptune takes 165 years to orbit the sun once. The magnetic field of Neptune is 27 time s greater then the earths. The great storm that we have noticed on the planet mo ved almost 750 miles per hour. PLUTO Pluto is known as the celestial snowballs, this planet is about 30 times small t hen the earth s moon, Pluto is considered a dwarf planet. The distance from the sun is 3,670,050,000 miles from the sun. Length of a year is 90,553 days, and the le ngth of a day is 153 hours and 18 minutes the temperature is -233*c to -223*c. This is the last planet in our solar system that we know of and by far the colde st one. The diameter is 1,430 miles. There are two other dwarf planets called Er is and Ceres, this was currently recognized in 2006. Pluto s surface is composed of a mixture of a frozen nitrogen, methane and carbon monoxide ices.
