Before attempting to set up any of the systems in this guide, the WIPZ executive board strongly recommends that you read through this manual. And as always in WIPZ, if you are uncertain about anything make sure to ask questions!

NOTICE: Before setting up the remote broadcasting system, confirm that all
equipment is in the black bag. This bag is located in the technical directors office (refer to page 13 for specific location). Please plan accordingly to ensure the technical director will be in his or her office when you pick the system up.

Diagrams
REMOTE BROADCAST FRONT VIEW

1. Display Screen. This where all information is displayed. It is touch sensitive. Content is navigated similarly to a computer browser. 2. Stylus. This tool acts as a pen for scrolling, selecting and navigating the touch screen. 3. Backlight Key. This controls the brightness of the display light. Press and hold this b button for one second to cause the backlight to dim after 10 seconds of non-use. 4. Directional Cursor. This is an alternative for the touch screen. The outer areas navigate t the screen, while the center button selects and enters commands. 5. Power Button. This turns on and off the system. 6. F1 and F2 Keys. The F1 button is an alternative button for selecting the top menu bar o on the on the display screen. The F2 button is a user-programmed button. For the s sake of this manual, you will not use these buttons. 7. Battery. This is the power source for the machine. Battery life levels can be checked in t the top right-hand corner of the display screen.

REMOTE BROADCAST TOP VIEW

1. Mono Input. Input for an external audio feed. This input connects the mixer with the r remote broadcast system. 2. Mic/Line Switch. Determines whether audio input is microphone level or line level. 3. Mono In level Control. Adjusts audio input levels. 4. Local Output. Adjusts locally-produced audio levels. 5. Return Output. Adjusts level of audio heard through the headphones. 6. Stereo Line. Input for stereo attachments. 7. Line Out. Output for unbalanced audio output. 8. Headphone Out. Output for stereo headphones. 9. Mobile In/Out. Input and Output for mobile devices.

REMOTE BROADCAST RIGHT SIDE VIEW

1. Power Outlet. Jack for power source. Only use the Comrex power cord in this jack. 2. Ethernet Input. Jack for Ethernet cord. Allows Internet connection. This is where you c cconnect the Ethernet cord to connect to the Internet. The LED lights to the left of t t the input indicate whether the system is connected.

MIXER FRONT VIEW

1. XLR Output. This is where the mixer connects with the remote broadcast system. 2. Mixer Levels. These determine output. They should be turned up to max at all times. 3. Stereo Input. This is where the headphones or splitter are plugged.

MIXER BACK VIEW

1. IEC Power Outlet. Jack for power source. 2. Power Switch. This turns on and off the system. 3. XLR Output. This is where you connect the mixer to the remote broadcast system.

Set Up Instructions
CONNECTING EVERYTHING TOGETHER

1. Insert the mixer board power cord (f.) into the mixer board power input and
an electrical outlet.

2. Insert the Comrex 5-Pin DIN cord (j.) into the Comrex power outlet and an
electrical outlet.

3.Plug XLR cable (c.) into XLR output on the remote broadcast system and the
upper left mic output on the mixer.

4. Select Line on the Mic/Line Switch. 5. Set the Mono In Level Control to 50%. This
looks like the graphic to the left.

7. Plug the wireless antenna (k.) into the wireless antennea port at the top left hand side of the remote broadcast system.

8. Plug the stereo splitter (h.) into the stereo input on the mixer board.

9. Plug each headphone (a.) into a seperate stereo input on the stereo splitter (h.).

8. Plug the XLR plug on the first set of headphones into microphone input channel 1. Plug the second set of headphones into channel 2.

PREPARING THE REMOTE BROADCAST SYSTEM AND MIXER NOTE: You should always use the stylus when navigating the touch screen.
1.Press the power button to turn on the remote broadcast system.

2.Once the system has loaded, select the Networks tab.

3.Once in the Networks menu, select the Manage Networks tab.

4. Once Manage Networks is selected, select WLAN Adapter.

5. Once WLAN Adapter is selected and highlighted, select the Configure button.

6. Go to the WIFI setting tab. 7. Select the Re-scan until you see the wireless network dropdown box. NOTE: If you do not see the drop down box, repeat this step until you see the dropdown bow. Sometimes the Re-scan takes several attempts to process. 8. Select Web Browser.

9. Select the keyboard tool. This will open up a keyboard as shown in the graphic to the right.

10. Select the browser. 11. Using the keyboard , type www.uwp.edu into the browser, then select enter on the keyboard.
NOTE: The system may have disconnected from the UWP server. If so, log on with UWP username as you would if you were on any UWP computer.

12. Once onto the UWP webpage, select the Remotes tab. This will open a drop down brx as shown in the graphic to the right.

13. Select Manage Connections.

14. Select WIPZ Studio A.

15. Select the green Connect button.

16. If the connection is successful, the screen should look like the graphic at right. NOTE: If the connection has failed, retry steps 14 & 15. If those fail, contact either the station manager or the technical director. 17. Once step 15 completed, contact a member in the studio (refer to page 12 for station phone number), and continue to the Studio Set Up section on page 10.

STUDIO SET UP
NOTE: The members using and setting up the remote broadcast system should contact the member setting up the studio section at least 24 hours ahead of the broadcast. NOTE: The member supervising the studio SHOULD NOT leave the statio at any point during the broadcast. 1.Using the left computer, log on using your UWP username and password. 2. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Type, comrex.wipz.uwp.edu into the browser, and click enter.


3.This will then bring up the name and password page as shown in the graphic to the right. The NAME is: WIPZ The PASSWORD is: comrex

4. Once the page opens, on the connections tab, you should see: 00.01:c0:0b:9f:05.

5. Select the Audio Metering tab. 6. Fill in the check boxes for analog, digital, status bar, and wave form as shown in the graphic to the right. 7. Once the check boxes are checked, you should see the levels bouncing on the board. NOTE: If the levels in step 7 do not move, the Local Output level on the remote broadcast system needs to be turned up. Turn up the the Local Output level until the levels on the board move. NOTE: If for some reason static comes through the broadcast, contact the members on site and notify them that their volume is too loud. They will need to turn down the Local Output levels until the static is gone.
