Domestic violence:
Domestic Violence is defined as the abusive behavior against intimate relatives like wife, children, and other family members.

Domestic violence in Pakistan:


In domestic violence against women Pakistan ranks number third Most of the domestic violence in Pakistan is against woman. Most of the population of Pakistan is Females. This means most of the Pakistan is under domestic violence. In Pakistan 34% percent in health care facilities are physically abused and are in depression. Women are oppressed and are not allowed to go out of their homes for work or recreations. In Pakistan most common kind of abuses are Physical abuse, verbal abuse, education abuse, consanguineous marriage, acid throwing and harassment

Some facts about domestic violence:


o A woman is beaten every 12 seconds in the world. o One of four women in the Pakistan will be assaulted by a domestic partner in her lifetime. o 1/3 of pregnant women are severely beaten in Pakistan. o Domestic violence includes mental/emotional/verbal/physical including constant demeaning or humiliating remarks, threats, slapping, kicking, hitting, and economic deprivation. o Children in homes where domestic violence occurs are physically abused or seriously neglected. o More than 40% of murdered women are killed by a spouse or someone they have been intimate relationship. o Of all juvenile and adult criminals, 80% lived in domestically violent environments in Pakistan.

o Male children exposed to domestic violence have a 700% greater chance of beating their female partners later in life o Battered women are eight times more likely to hurt their children when they are being abused than when they are safe. o 25% of female suicides are preceded by a history of battering. Domestic violence occurs in all classes, races, income levels, and education levels. No one deserves to be abused. No one can provoke violence, the abuser chooses to abuse.

Suggestions for reducing domestic violence:


Some suggestions are as follows: When a child is born his education begins about the world and if his parents brought him right he will not be part of domestic violence or his children. People should be educated about this major problem. It doesnt affect the people in that home but the people they meet. The government can help those people who are under the heavy weight of dowry. There should be laws against the heavy dowry. Police and the people should see to it. Opportunities of employment for both the sex should be equal. Both the sex should have no problem in getting their education. Alcohol is one of the main reasons of violence. Its banned on Muslims in Pakistan but people drink it and come to their homes drunk and beat their family. Other religion people should be restricted on the consumption of alcohol.
