Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Criteria Summary Rocky Freda Memorial Award will be presented to an individual who exemplifies qualities reminiscent of Freda and is using these talents as a Maine guide. Criteria to be met are a sincere love for the outdoors and a demonstrated track record of stewardship of the forest and river assets. Henry H. Hastings Award for Citizenship Recipient should possess similar qualities to the gentleman who the award was named for -- someone who has shown sustained interest in serving the community, involved in a wide cross section of community life, and should be of highest ethics. Lifetime Achievement Award Formerly the Senior Citizen Award, this recognition should be presented to someone who is in the higher age category and has made significant contributions to his/her community during his/her lifetime whether it is in business, civic life, or a combination of both. Business of the Year Award Large or small, new or well-established businesses are all valid. Your reasons for nominating a business should be well documented. Forest Products Industry Award Formerly known as the Wood Products Employee of the Year, the chamber changed the award in recognition of the fact that many of the individuals who work in forest-related positions are self-employed. This award should go to someone who has done an exemplary job as a steward of the forest resource and has been a positive citizen of our area. Public Service Award Should be given to someone who (potentially) works for our communities in a public role, and, over a period of years has made substantial contributions in his/her area, i.e. town office staff, town volunteer committee members, fire department personnel, rescue squad members, etc. Bethel Area Non-Profit Leadership Award The individual nominated and receiving this award should have a record of exemplary service to one or more Bethel area non-profit organizations. Rising Star Entrepreneur Award The nominee for this award should be a promising young entrepreneur, preferably between the ages of 20 35 who has started his or her own business. It could be someone in the creative class who may not be operating out of a physical storefront location. Employee of the Year Awards These individuals, in four separate categories (see front page for categories), can only be nominated by their employers. Special Awards The Awards Committee has the authority to recognize key individuals/organizations for a Special Award outside the criteria of the above traditional awards.
