REPORT ON FIELD TRAINING FOR PASTORAL STUDENTS (YEAR 2011/2012) PRESENTED TO THE DIRECTOR OF STUDIES, REV. DR. C.F.W. AGBEKOR PRESENTED BY PASTOR AGBESHIE KWAME GERSHON INTRODUCTION I was glad when they said unto me let us go to the house of the Lord. Psalm 122:1 PREPARATION AND REPORTING AT STATION When I received my letter of attachment on 21st November, 2011 which was addressed to the sogakope presbytery chairman, I thanked the Lord for it. I fasted and prayed to the Lord for direction towards the work on the field. On 7 th of January, 2012, I arrived at Sogakope and met the absence of the presbytery chairman in the person of Rev. E.K. Dordzi, because he was at a meeting in Kumasi. RECEPTION AT STATION I was warmly welcomed by the children, since he gave instruction down for my arrival. I then called the chairman and informed him about my arrival. My itinerary for the six week was handed over to me. ACTIVITIES AT STATION I worked in two districts made up of eight congregations. They are as follows; Agokpo District Agokpo Congregation Avorvi Congregation Dendo Congregation Atsieve Congregation Statistics 152 125 130 107 Year Established 2008 1992 1951 1994

Sogakope District Akato Congregation Fievie Congregation Sondo Congregation Sogakope Congregation

My supervising pastor is Rev. E.K. Dordzi. I spent five days with each congregation in the Agokpo District holding revival programs with the theme KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST. Some of the scriptural text I used are, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 1 Peter 2:9, Jeremiah 29:11, Galatians 3:29. The Program always starts with a morning prayer and continuous in the evening. Usually on the first day of the program, the turn up is always poor but us the program progress turn up increases and on the last day the room gets filled. I always end the program with healing and deliverance and the Lord healed many and delivered many from the bondage of Satan. Glory be to His name. I visited some of the members in their homes and prayed for them. I also encourage them in the Lord. The second district was the Sogakope District. I spent five days with Akato

Congregation holding revival program with the same them KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST. At Akato we had only evening programs due to the distant from where I was staying to the church. We ended the program with healing and deliverance. I spent eight days each with the remaining three. In Fievie and sondo I held revival program with the same theme KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST. We ended the program with healing and deliverance and the Lord healed and delivered many from the bondage of Satan. Many people gave testimonies about what the Lord had done in their lives even after I have left to the next congregation.

I ended my last week at Sogakope Congregation. At Sogakope I did not hold revival program because the chairman wanted me to have some rest because continuously for one month one week I worked without having any day off. What I did at Sogakope was as follows; Monday, I met the Youths and taught them on the Topic: Supernatural Encounter from 7:00pm-8:30pm. The text I used was Luke 5:1-8. Tuesday I led in their miracle service from 9am-12 noon. Wednesday I taught on the Topic: Family Affairs, which is their main topic for the first half of the year. Friday I led in the Friday prayer meeting from 7pm-830pm and finally I ended my one week stay with a sermon on Sunday. They have two services, the English Service and the Ewe Service. The English Service starts from 7:30am 9:30 am and the Ewe Service starts from 10am 12 noon. I preached on the theme the power of the Holy Spirit. The text I used is Acts 8:14-20. DEBRIEFING On the evening of that day 19th February, 2012 I was debrief by the pastor rev. E.K. Dordzi and he handed over an envelope containing appreciable amount of money. CHALLENGES AT STATION The challenges that I faced at the station are as follows; 1) Lack of proper accommodation at some of the villages. 2) Lack of electricity in some of the villages. 3) Lack of potable water in some of the villages. EXPERIENCES GAINED AT STATION 1) I gained a lot of experiences on the field. Example I experienced how to work

continuously without break for more than one month.

2) I witnessed an induction service for Rev. Seth Agbeyome. 3) I experienced the hand of God in a dynamic way. PERSONAL STRENGTH I was able to work continuously without break for more than one month, ministering to people both day and night. PERSONAL WEAKNESS I was not able to read the Ewe fluently. PROJECTIONS I will like to plead with the Director of studies to send pastor students for field training there every year because there is more work to be done there. Conclusion I will like to use this opportunity to thank the Director of studies Rev. Dr. C.F.W. Gbekor for giving me the opportunity to go on field training at the Sogakope Presbytery. I say God Richly Bless You.
