Introduction
A bank is a financial institution and a financial intermediary that accepts deposits and channels those deposits into lending activities, either directly or through capital markets. A bank connects customers with capital deficits to customers with capital surpluses. Banks' activities can be divided into retail banking, dealing directly with individuals and small businesses; business banking, providing services to mid-market business; corporate banking, directed at large business entities; private banking, providing wealth management services to high net worth individuals and families; and investment banking, relating to activities on the financial markets. Most banks are profit-making, private enterprises. However, some are owned by government, or are non-profit organizations. There are two types of bank, which are Public and Private Banks. Public banks are those which are nationalized and government controlled the public bank and Private Banks are those which are organized by the investors and shareholders but not fully controlled by government.

Objectives
Comparative study of banks is an attempt to assess the financial performance of banks. For that there are some objectives which are described as under.

1. To determine the initial investments in the initial stage. 2. To determine the fluctuation in decline period. 3. To provide fair, efficient & transparent report of total capital of banks. 4. To protect the interest of investors. 5. To promote the development of banking sector.

Hypothesis
Banking in India are increasing now a days and therefore it is necessary to know about the performance of banks and most of the banks are listed in stock exchange which gives the result of their market standing.

Secondary Data: Through internet, Books, Journals, Financial statements, Magazines. Tools: Questionnaire

Sample Size
Sampling is the selection of an appropriate sample from the population.
