1. About School
The School of Commerce and
management is one of the eight schools of
studies located at the headquarters of the

medium) Programme through The School Of
Commerce & Management.
2. About Programme
2.1 Features of the Programme
The course is developed for the students
wishing to improve their professional
and management expertise.
The students would work in the actual
work situations to complete the
programme. This academic programme
is designed for non-working and
working students. With some time
management and determination, the
student can easily complete this
programme while continuing his/her
job, profession or other education.
Well-Qualified counsellors at study
centre will solve student's difficulties,
during the counseling sessions.
Activities at the study centres are
organized specially on holidays;
normally the study centre is situated
nearer to student' s place for his
convenience.
Students will be continuously assessed
throughout the year and will have to
submit assignments four times in an
academic year.
The university will conduct the end
examination after the end of each
academic year.
2.2 Programme Structure
(a) The minimum attendance of 50% is
compulsory for the counseling sessions.
(b) The programme consists of 8 courses
(including the project work) which are
covered in TWO academic years.

3. Admission Procedure
3.1 Eligibility
Admission to the M.com programme is
open to all citizens of India who satisfy the
following conditions :
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce
In case a candidate has completed
a course from a statutory board or
University, which has, content
similar to that offered in the
courses in the programme, he/she
might appeal to the Director of
school of commerce for getting
exemption to a course through a
written application supported by
necessary documents (syllabi of
the courses completed by him/
her). The decision of the Director
of the School will be final and
binding on the student in this
respect.
3.2 Programme Fee
The fee structure for M.Com. is as
follows :
(1) Total Programme fee
The total Programme fees consists of 2
(Two) independent parts:
(a) University Programme fees (UPF) :
The university Programme fees is
inclusive of examination fees. Each
student has to pay UPF directly in

Bank of Maharashtra through
challan. University accepts no
other form of payment.
(b) Study Centre Fees (SCF) : Each
student has to pay the SCF directly
to the respective study centre.

Please do not pay any additional fees
to the study centre. The programme fees
will be as given above. If your admission is
cancelled due to some reason, the
programme admission fees will not be
returned.
Please note that if the number of
students at a particular study centre is less
than 20 students, then the registered
students of such study centres will be
transferred to the nearest study centre.
Final Examination & Marksheet fees
were taken with the admission form. So
regular students do not fill any seperate
Examination Form for final exam.
The Programme fees includes
Registration fee, Course fee, Evaluation Fee
(Internal & End), Marksheet, Postage
Charges, Student Welfare Fund, Samwad
fee, University Development Fund,
Certificate fee, I.D. Card fee, etc.
(1) Please do not pay any additional fee to
the Study Centre. University will not
be responsible for the excess payment
of fees other than mentioned above. It
is non-refundable, if admission is
cancelled due to certain reasons.
(2) University fees to be deposited through
challan in the Bank of Maharashtra.
One part of the challan will be kept by
the bank, second part to be attached
with the application, third part to be
submitted to the study centre and one
part to be retained by the student.
Students will have to pay Bank Service
Charges to the bank if it is mentioned
in the challan.
(3) Study Centre fees to be deposited at
Study Centre only and take receipt of
the same.
(4) A Study Centre having enrollment less
than twenty may be discontinued.
Enrolled students of that Study Centre
will be shifted to nearby Study Centre.
Refund of Fees :
Following rules are applicable regarding
the refund of fees in case of cancellation of
admission.
From the Date of Admission (As per the
date on Challan)
(1) 15% reduction if application of
cancellation is received within 15 days.
(2) 50% reduction if application of
cancellation is received within 30 days.
(3) 75% reduction if application of
cancellation is received within 45 days.
There will not be any refund of fees if
application of cancellation is received after
45 days from the date of admission.
Student must inform about his/her
cancellation of admission through the
concern study centre.
Student must attach a copy of receipt
of submission of books to the study centre
with the the application of cancellation.

students are required to attach
attested copy of Gazzattee of
Maharashtra Govt. (In case change in
Name)
3.3 Duration
(a) Minimum duration of the programme
is 2 academic years including the
project work and the maximum
duration is 8 years.
(b) If a student is unable to complete the
programme or other requirements

within 8 years he/she shall have to
register again as a new student. Such
a person however shall be eligible to
course(s) exemption. Thus student
would not be required to study the
courses, which have been completed
earlier.
3.4 Medium
The medium of instruction used in
study materials, question Papers and other
mode of communication is English.
However, as per the convenience of
the counselor and students, counseling
and discussion could be held in any
other language(s), mostly in regional
Languages.
The medium of examination will be
in English only.
4. Evaluation Procedure
Evaluation
The pattern of evaluation used for the
M.Com. programme will consist of the
following components.
(1) Internal Assessment / Continuous
Assessment
This will be done through assignments.
For each course except (research
methodology) four sets of assignments will
be given. Each assignment will carry 20
marks. The total of 80 marks will be
converted into 20 marks.
Student will not be allowed to resubmit
the assignments.
(2) End Examination
The content of the programmes
are divided into theory course. Each course
is of 4-credit point. The duration of
the examination for 4 Credit Point shall be
180 minutes and maximum marks will
be 100, which will be converted into 80
marks.
(3) Project
The students are expected to choose a
Project topic under the guidance of teaching
staff of the Study centre. The project work
/ case study should be related to area of
specialized papers. The project is 50 marks
of which project work carries 30 marks and
Viva Voce will carry 20 marks.

(a) Question Paper Pattern except
Research Methodology
All the question papers will have two
sections. Total five questions have to be
attempted. Each section will have four
questions. Two questions from each section
are compulsory. Each question will be of 20
Marks. However as per subject need there
may be two or more sub questions in one
question.
(b) Question Paper Pattern For Research
Methodology
All the question Papers will have
two sections. Total five questions have to
be attempted. Each section will have
four questions. Two questions from each
section are compulsory. Each question will
be of 10 Marks. However as per subject need
there may be two or more sub questions in
one question.
Standard of Passing
1. A student must get at least 40% marks
in each head of the examination
scheme of each course. A student must
pass all the courses at all years of the
programme, to obtain the certification
by the university.
2. Successful completion of the project
component requires obtaining a
minimum 40 % marks combined in
Project as well as in viva-voce.
3. The total marks obtained in first year,
second year including project/ case

study component will be combined
while calculating the Aggregate Marks
for the M.com Programme. A student
must obtain an aggregate of 50% marks
for the entire programme in order to
qualify for the award of the M.com
degree.
4. The final result of the student after
considering the performance for all
academic years will be declared on the
basis of the following table :

Award of Degree
After Successful completion of all
courses at all years, the degree may be
awarded, in person or absentia, during next
prescribed procedure of filing the
convocation form and the payment of the
prescribed fees.

5. Registration Procedure
Admission process is simple. Most of
the admission process is completed at the
respective study centre only.
Following is the procedure for
admission :
1. The Applicant is expected to procure the
Admission Form and Bank Challan along
with the prospectus from the recognised
Study Centre.
2. The Applicant must study the prospectus,
familiarise himself/herself about the
programme rules and ensure that he/
she is eligible for the admission. He/
She must also see the video CD provided
with the prospectus.
3. If eligible, the Applicant interested in
admission to the programme should
carefully fill in the form in BOLD legible
(readable) letters, without overwriting,
in ENGLISH language. Care should be
taken to fill in the form perfectly and
accurately because a computerised
system will be used for data entry. The
Applicant will be solely responsible for
the correctness of information
submitted. He/she should attach the
attested photocopies of proofs of
qualification, date of birth and any other
important documents asked for.
4. The Applicant should obtain the
signature and seal of the Study Centre
after getting his/her eligibility checked
from the study centre.
5. The eligible Applicant shall pay the
amount of the TOTAL fee (i.e. Study
Centre fee + University Programme fee)
to the branch of Bank of Maharashtra
and obtain two parts/ copies of the
challan. The Applicant must not pay cash
to the Study Centre Coordinator/Staff
under any circumstances. If any amount
is paid in cash to any person from the
Study Centre, the responsibility for the

same will entirely rest with the
Applicant.
6. The Applicant shall submit the part of
challan meant for the Study Centre to
the Study Centre and retain one part
with himself/herself. He/She should
also retain a photocopy of the application
form (Admission Form) for himself/
herself. He/she shall take
acknowledgement of having given the
Study Centre part of the challan to the
Study Centre.
7. The Admission Forms must be filled in
and the above process should be
completed before the stipulated time
limit. No admission form shall be
accepted at the Study Centre after the
stipulated time frame mentioned in the
prospectus. All admission forms along
with challan must be submitted only to
a branch of the Bank of Maharashtra.
No form should be submitted to any other
Bank. Likewise, no admission form will
be received /accepted at the university
headquarters under any circumstances.
Forms should also not be sent by post or
courier in any case.
8. The admission fee receipt will not be
issued by the Study Centre. The Bank
challan will itself serve as the fee
receipt.
9. Applicants should submit their admission
form through the Study Centre selected
by them to the nearest branch of the
Bank of Maharashtra within the same
region.
10.The Applicant must keep in touch with
the Study Centre about the learning
programme, laboratory schedule, class
test and the examination schedule. The
confirmation of admission should be
checked with the Study Centre by the
last week of October. Applicants shall
not be allowed to appear for any
examination without confirmation of
admission.
11.The university reserves the right to
reject admission wrongly granted by the
Study Centre to ineligible applicants if
ineligibilty is discovered at any stage
during the registration process.

Student aid
YCMOU offers financial aid for students
from low-income strata on merit basis.
YCMOU has made a pooled annual provision
of Rs. 15 lakh for this purpose. YCMOU offers
a 50% fee waiver in various programmes
for students in low-income sections of the
society. Students need to apply in specified
format with suitable documents for
eligibility.
Sports events
Annual events are organised to offer
sports-opportunities for students at regional
and university levels. This will enable them
to qualify for sports events at intervarsity
Ashwamedha (intervarsity event started by
Hon Chancellor), state and national levels
including AIU events.
Youth festival
Annual youth festivals are held for
performing arts at regional and university
level. The events include elocution, ekankika
(one-act-play), music and dance. This
qualifies them for participation in
Indradhanushya - intervarsity event started
by Hon Chancellor and also national level
events including the AIU-event.
Avishkar
To promote research activity in the
student community, Avishkar an
intervarsity event started by Hon Chancellor
is organised annually. A biannual
research journal is published by YCMOU
for students to carry the research papers.
Samvad house journal
Samvad Patrika is a monthly house
journal for communication with thousands
of students of YCMOU spread in the entire
state. This carries educational articles and
useful information. This is expected to
promote self-learning and awareness about
Open & Distance Learning.
Samvad Patrika will be available at
Study Centre as well as on the official
website of the University.
Virtual learning
The Ahemadabad based ISRO has
helped YCMOU to start a satellite based
virtual learning centres network to assist
learning. This networks 40 VLCs in the state
where students can gather to interact with
the counselors.
NSS
The National Services Scheme (NSS)
has been launched at select YCMOU study
centres for 800 students.

Sir/Madam,
There are a number of open Universities in the country offering various degrees/diploma through the
mode of non-formal education. The Open Universities have been established in the country by an
Act of Parliament or State Legislature in accordance with the provisions contained in Section
2(f) of University Grants Commission Act, 1956. These universities are, therefore, empowered
to award degrees in terms of Section 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956.
A circular was earlier issued vide UGC letter N.F.1-8/92(CPP) dated February, 1992 mentioning that
the Certificate, Diplomas and Degrees awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University are to be
treated equivalent to the corresponding awards of the Universities in the country.
Attention is further invited to UGC circular No.F1-25/93(CPP-II) dated 28

July, 1993 (copy
enclosed) for recognition of degrees and diplomas as well as transfer of credit for courses successfully
completed by students between the two types of universities so that the mobility of students from
Open University stream to traditional Universities is ensured without any difficulty.
The UGC has specified the nomenclature of degrees under Section 22(3) of the UGC Act, 1956 to
ensure mandatory requirements viz. minimum essential academic inputs required for awarding such
degrees. A copy of Gazette Notification regarding specification of degrees issued vide No.1-52/97(CPP-
II) dated 31
